Setup
RISK OF INJURY!
Do not insert the plug into the power socket until the appliance is
fully assembled.
The blade is extremely sharp! Handle it with great care.
Once you have cleaned all the parts as described under "Cleaning",
Set up the appliance in such a way that ...
the power cord is guided through the notch on the backside.
the power plug is quickly accessible to unplug it from the
power socket in case of danger.
the appliance is firmly seated so the suction cups are
secure to prevent the appliance from tipping over in case of
vibrations.
the power cord does not stick out into your workspace so it
cannot accidentally be pulled on and cause the appliance
to tip over.
Operation and use
RISK OF INJURY!
The motor turns off as soon as the container is removed from
the motor unit . This may cause you to forget that the machine
is still turned on. The motor will then start unexpectedly when you
reattach the container .
For this reason:
Do not insert the power plug into the outlet until you have
filled, sealed and attached the container .
Before attaching the container, always make sure the appli-
ance is turned off or unplugged.
First, turn the appliance off, unplug it, then wait until the mo-
tor comes to a standstill before removing the container .
SSML 800 A2 US-EN 11
Filling and attaching the container
1) Turn the container counterclockwise until it reaches the
position, then remove it by lifting it straight off the motor unit .
2) Remove the cover by turning it counterclockwise in the direc-
tion of the symbol until you can lift the cover straight off the
container (see Fig. 1).
3) Fill the container .
4) Press the cover back onto the container . Lock the cover
by turning it clockwise until it reaches the position (see Fig. 2).
Make sure that the spout on the container is sealed.
Fig. 1 Fig. 2
5) Place the measuring cap in the opening on the cover and
turn it clockwise.
6) Once you have filled and sealed the container , position it
on the motor unit using the notches on the motor block .
Turn the container clockwise as far as possible to the po-
sition. The engine will not start until the container is locked
in place.
Selecting a speed
Once you have filled and sealed the container and it is posi-
tioned on the motor unit , you can turn the appliance on. When
the appliance is on, the light element at the top edge of the
housing lights up blue.
SSML 800 A2

Move the switch to ...
Level 1 - 3
for liquid or semi-firm food, for mixing, blending, and stirring
Level 3 - 5
for firmer foods or chopping
Ice Crush/Clean
for brief, powerful, pulsed operation, e. g. to crush ice cubes
or for cleaning. The switch does not lock in this position to
prevent motor overload. Therefore, only hold the switch in
this position for short periods of time.
Fill the container with no more than 6.3 oz (180 g) of ice
cubes. Otherwise, the result may not be ideal.
Adding ingredients during operation
RISK OF INJURY!
If you would like to add ingredients during operation, you may
only to do so by opening the intended measuring cap .
Do not open the cover ! Otherwise, food may fly out at
high speeds!
Never place any silverware or mixing tools into the
container when the appliance is in use. There is a
considerable risk of injury if these come into contact with
the blades , which rotate very quickly!
To add ingredients during operation...
1) Turn the measuring cap counterclockwise and remove it.
2) Add the ingredients.
3) Then, place the measuring cap back in the opening of the
cover and turn it clockwise.
SSML 800 A2 US-EN 13
Removing the container
Once you have finished processing the ingredients:
1) First, always move the switch to the OFF position and un-
plug the appliance.
2) Wait until the motor comes to a standstill before removing the
container from the motor unit . Turn the container coun-
terclockwise until it reaches the position, then lift it straight
off.
Helpful tips
To achieve the best result when blending firm ingredients, grad-
ually add small portions to the container instead of adding
a large portion all at once.
When processing firm ingredients, cut them into small pieces
(2 - 3 cm / 1 in).
When mixing liquid ingredients, begin with a small amount of
liquid. Then, gradually add more liquid through the opening in
the cover.
Place your hand on the locked blender, when it is on, to stabi-
lize it.
To stir firm foods or very thick liquids, it may be useful to use
"Ice Crush/Clean" mode in order to prevent the blade assem-
bly from jamming.
Do not use the appliance to reduce the grain size of table salt,
refined sugar or white sugar, e.g. to make powdered sugar.

Cleaning
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Before you clean the blender, unplug the appliance from the
power socket.
During cleaning, you must never immerse the motor unit in
water or hold it under running water.
Never open the housing of the device. Otherwise, there is a risk of
fatal injury by electrical shock.
RISK OF INJURY!
Never remove the blade assembly and never place your hand
in the container . The blade assembly is extremely sharp!
Do not use any solvents or abrasive cleaners for the plastic parts,
as they may otherwise be damaged.
Cleaning the container
Only clean the container using a long-handled brush so
you do not hurt yourself on the blade assembly .
For more stubborn build-up, you can also wash the container
in your dish washer. Always remove the container as
described further below.
Wash the cover and the measuring cap in your dish
washer or by hand.
If you clean your blender immediately after using it, you will
normally achieve sufficient, hygienic cleaning using the follow-
ing alternative approach:
Fill the container with 3.1 cups (750 ml) of water and add
a drop of mild detergent. Apply the cover and place the
container on the motor unit . Plug in the appliance and
put it in "Ice Crush/Clean" mode a few times so that the blade
assembly rotates in the water at full speed. Then, rinse the
container with lots of clear water to remove any remaining
detergent.
SSML 800 A2 US-EN 15
If the appliance is still dirty, you can remove the bottom plastic
part of the container with the blade assembly from the
glass part of the container :
Fig. 3
Glass part
Seal ring
Blade
Bottom plastic part
1) Remove the container from the motor unit . For better
stability, remove the cover from the container .
2) Place the container on its head and turn the bottom plastic part
of the container counterclockwise to remove it from the
glass part of the container (see Fig. 3).
SSML 800 A2
16 US-EN
RISK OF INJURY!
Handle the blades with caution. They are very sharp.
Risk of injury!
3) Thoroughly clean both parts with a mild soap and water or in
your dish washer.
4) Place the bottom plastic part of the container back onto
the glass part of the container . Make sure that the seal
ring is placed properly.
Cleaning the motor unit
1) Use a dry or at most a slightly damp cloth to clean the surfac-
es.
2) Each time you clean the appliance, make sure that the con-
tact switch in the seating for the container is not blocked
by residues. If you are unable to remove possible blockages
using the corner of a sheet of paper, please contact customer
service. Do not use a hard object, as this could damage the
contact switch!
3) Only use a dry cloth or dusting brush to clean the bottom of
the motor unit . Make sure that nothing enters the appliance
through the ventilation openings.
After cleaning
Allow all parts to dry before you put the blender back together
and use it.
Storage
1) If you do not plan to use the blender for a longer period of
time, clean it thoroughly (see chapter about "Cleaning").
2) Wrap the power cord around the cord retainer on the bot-
tom of the motor unit .
3) Store the blender in a cool, dry location.
SSML 800 A2 US-EN 17

mal household trash. If you can no longer use your electrical
