Stop time measurement
Whether or not a technical protective device offers enough pro-
tection against a dangerous movement depends entirely on the
minimum distance selected. It is necessary to ensure that the dan-
gerous movement comes to a stop before reaching the hazardous
point throughout the entire life cycle of the machine.
The stop time measurement on machines is required before the ini-
tial commissioning, after significant changes or expected changes
due to usage, such as brake wear.
The stop time measurement from SICK determines the time
between the triggering of a stop signal and the stopping of the dan-
gerous machine movement. The measurement results serve as the
basis for determining the minimum distances in accordance with
ISO 13855 Annex D. Corresponding measures can be implemented
in a timely fashion if required.
Regularly calibrated measuring instruments ensure a consistently
high level of testing quality.
