Adjusting the focus
Your binoculars have eyepiece adjustment (3) means. To focus look
at an object approximately 100 meters away. Close only your left
eye and keep turning the right eyepiece setting ring 1 until the object
looked at is in sharp focus. Then close only your right eye and turn
the left eyepiece setting 1 until the object you are looking at is again
in sharp focus. The binoculars are now precisely adjusted to your
eyesight.
Reversing the eye-piece cup
Note for spectacles wearers. The rubber eyepiece cups (2) are
reversed when using spectacles to look through the binoculars.
The maximum field of view of the binoculars can thus be exploited
to the full.
Compass (4)
Your binoculars are equipped with a compass. If you look through
them you will see a scale in degrees (0 - 360) at the lower edge of
your field of view. If 360 is exactly at the centre of the scale you are
looking directly to the north (if 180, to the south).
Cleaning your binoculars
1. Remove coarse dust with a brush.
2. Please use a soft fluff-free cloth for further cleaning.
3. Should there still be residue on the lens dampen the cloth
with standard cleaning fluid for optical glass (available from
photography shops). Do not press hard when cleaning.
Using the reticle (Fig. 2):
Determing the distance:
To be able to detremine the distance of an object you need to know
its size. Take a bearing on the object you wish to look at and read off
the number of lines on the reticle. Now divide the size by the number
of lines multiplied by five. Multiply the result by 1,000 to give you the
distance from the object in metres. Example: A Tower has 6 lines on
the reticle and a known height of 60 m.
The distance is:
(60 : (6 x 5)) x 1.000 = 2.000 m
Determing the size:
To be able to determine the size of an object you need to know its
distance. Take a bearing on the object you wish to look at and read
Never look directly at the sun with the
binoculars. This may cause burn injuries to
the retina.

Your dealer:off the number of lines on the reticle. Multiply the distance by the
number of lines and multiply that figure by five. Divide the result
by 1,000. Example: A tower has a distance of 2,000 m and 6 lines
appear on the scale. The height is:
((2,000 x 6) : 1.000) x 5 = 60 m
