A. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the matsui PL5050.
Please read the entire instruction manual supplied with this product
prior to using. The documentation will assist you in installing the product
properly to obtain the best equipment performance. Please save this
manual for later use.
B. Cautions and Warnings
Follow Instructions -- All operating and maintenance instructions
should be followed and warnings adhered to.
Cleaning -- Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning.
Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
Accessories -- Do not use accessories not recommended in this
instruction book as they may be hazardous.
Water and Moisture -- Hazard of electric shock. Do not use this
product near water or in rainy/moist situations.
Objects and Liquid -- Never allow objects of any kind or liquids to be
pushed/spilled into this product through openings as they may come
into contact with dangerous voltage or other hazards.
Do not place objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the unit.
Condensation -- Moisture will form in the operating section of the
player if the player is brought from cool surroundings into a warm
room or if the temperature of the room rises suddenly. When this
happens, the player's performance will be impaired. To prevent this,
let the player stand in its new surroundings for about an hour before
switching it on, or make sure that the room temperature rises gradually.
Condensation may also form during the summer if the player is ex-
posed to the breeze from an air conditioner. In such cases, change

the location of the player.
Placing or Moving -- Do not place on an unstable cart, stand, tripod,
bracket or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a
child or adult, and serious damage to the product. A product and cart
combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force,
and uneven surfaces may cause the product and cart combination to
overturn.
Power Cord Protection -- Power cords should be routed so that
they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or
against them. Pay particular attention to plugs and the point from which
the cords exit the product.
Lightning -- For added protection of this product during a lightning
storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of
time, disconnect it from the wall outlet. This will prevent damage to
the product due to lightning and power-line surges.
Overloading -- Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as
this can result in risk of fire or electric shock.
Servicing -- Do not attempt to service this product yourself as
opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage
points or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service
personnel.
Damage Requiring Service -- Disconnect this product from the wall
outlet and all power sources including batteries, and refer servicing to
qualified service personnel under the following conditions:
a)When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged.
b)If any liquid has been spilled onto, or objects have fallen into the
product.

c)If the product has been exposed to rain or water.
d)If the product does not operate normally even if you follow the
operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by
the operating instructions. Improper adjustment of other controls may
result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified
technician to restore the product to its normal operating condition.
e) If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.
f ) When the product exhibits a distinct change in performance. This
indicates a need for service.
Replacement Parts -- When replacement parts are required be sure
the service technician has used replacement parts that are specified
or that have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorised
substitutions may result in fire, electric shock or other hazards.
Safety Check -- Upon completion of any service or repairs to this
product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to
determine that the product is in safe operating order.
Ventilation --To ensure proper ventilation and proper operation, never
cover the unit with a cloth or other material and make sure there is a
gap of at least 10mm around the outside of the unit.
Naked flames -- Keep the unit away from naked flame sources such
as fire and candles, etc and do not place naked flames on the unit.

Important Warning
A DVD player is a Class 1 laser product, however this player uses a
visible laser beam which could cause hazardous radiation exposure.
Be sure to operate the player correctly as instructed.
The following caution label is located on the rear panel of the player.
When this player is plugged into the wall outlet, do not place your
eyes close to the opening of the disc tray and other openings to look
into the inside of this player.
Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other
than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
Do not open covers and do not repair yourself. Refer servicing to
qualified personnel.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this
equipment to rain or moisture.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock and annoying interference,
use the recommended accessories only.
On no account should this unit be used by the driver of a moving
motor vehicle.
If the unit is being used by a passenger in your vehicle, be sure that
it does not cause distraction to the driver, is secured or held safely
and does not obstruct any safety device (eg airbag, seat belt, etc.)
that is fitted.

C. Powering
1. Powering the system in a car (Refer to Figure 1)
Plug the cigarette lighter adapter into the cigarette lighter socket,
then plug the jacks into the DC 9-12V sockets on the main unit and
monitor.
2. Powering the system indoors (Refer to Figure 2)
Plug one end of the AC to DC adapter into the DC 9-12V jack on the
portable DVD or the single Monitor, then plug the other end into the
240V AC power outlet.

E. Installations
The Main DVD Unit:
1)Place the main unit into the holder with the clear plastic covering,and
secure in place with the cord.(Refer to Step 1)
2)Attach the Seat Standoff to the back of the holder using the velcro
strips, to obtain the correct viewing angle.(Refer to Step 2)

3)Attach a clip A strap to one of the rings on the back of the DVD holder.
When this is in place, attach the s hook to the other ring on the DVD
holder. (Refer to Step 3)

4)Place the strap around the car headrest stand and tighten to secure.
(Refer to Figure 4)
5)Take the two S Hook straps and attach clip A to the bottom rings on
the back of the main DVD holder. Then fasten the S Hooks under the
car seat, and tighten to secure.(Refer to Step 5)

6)Connect one end of the cigarette lighter adaptor to the cigaratte lighter
socket and the other end to the DC socket on the main unit.
(Refer to Step 6)
Note:The other jack connection will be pluged into the DC socket on
the DVD monitor.

The DVD monitor:
1)Place the DVD monitor into the holder and fasten the velcro straps.
(Refer to Step 7)

3)Connect the jack from the cigarette lighter adaptor to the DC socket.
(Refer to Step 9)

4)Join the interconnection cable to the AV out socket on the main unit,
and the other end to the AV in socket on the DVD monitor.(Refer to
Step 10) Please insure any excess cable does not interfere with the
driver, and is stored out of the way of passengers.
Use the ON/OFF switch to turn on the power on the main DVD unit
and monitor. Your Twin View System is now ready to use.

3. Loading and Playing a Disc
a. After connecting power to the unit, turn on DVD player with power
switch,the indicator will light up.
b. Open the disc tray by pressing OPEN, and place a disc into the
tray with the label side facing up.
c. Close the tray by pressing the PRESS button.The unit will load
the disc and start playing.
d. Adjust BRIGHTNESS and VOLUME controls to your personal
requirement.
e. To stop playing a disc, press STOP.

G. Setup
Press theSETUP button to display the Main screen of the Setup
Menu. Press the SETUP button again to exit the Menu and the unit
will resume its last playback mode.

Note: The setup menu will not function with a disc in the tray or
the DVD door open.
1) Press the SETUP button, the Language Setup Page will be
displayed on screen.
a) Select Disc Menu using the UP/DOWN buttons, and then press
RIGHT to enter the submenu. Select the Menu Language on the
screen using the UP/DOWN buttons and press ENTER to confirm
the setting. Press LEFT to return.
