shown.

Note: The ES500 POS terminals have two non-powered RJ-
50 10-pin (COM 1 & 2) serial connections. COM 3 and COM
4 are powered RJ-50 serial ports. COM 3 is 5V and COM 4
is 12V. The ES500 has no DB9 serial ports - only RJ-50
10P10C-pin serial ports. When using peripherals with DB9
serial connections with the ES500, an adapter cable must
be used. An example would be between the terminal and
the printer serial interface cable. The adapter cable (PN
C8200) comes in approximately 10” length. A C2355 (Dual
Cash Drawer Adapter Cable) cable is shipped with each
terminal and additional cables can be purchased from PAR.

Service and Support
For service and support during or after installation,
contact the PAR phone center at 1-800-382-6200.
Battery Warning
A lithium coin-type battery is installed on the ES500
motherboard. If this battery is replaced, it must be replaced
with an equivalent battery type. Dispose of the used battery
according to local disposal instructions.
Connect AC Power Cord to
Terminal
1. Lay the terminal on its back on a clean, flat
surface.
2. Locate the AC power cord.
3. Connect the AC power cord to the POS
terminal power supply. The power supply is on
the underside of the terminal.
4. Connect the other end of the AC power cord
to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
Connect Peripherals to POS Terminal
1. Lay the terminal on the counter on its back
with the bottom facing you.
2. Tilt the top cover up.
3. Connect your peripherals to the POS terminal.
Refer to the Cable Connections diagram.
4. Place register upright.
5. Power on the POS terminal. The power button
is located on the bottom left side of the top
cover.
6. Power on the peripherals.
