DISPLAY items
In the normal state, the display can show 2 different screens.
Time and notification icons visualization (default)
In this screen you see the current time and some notification icons.
Icons meaning:
10/100Mbit net LAN connected up
At least one zone on
It’s always possible to show this visualization holding the “cancel” key (or with repeated pressure of it).
With this visualization you can:
- press “OK” button to access the main menu
- select a zone to modify its control parameters pressing the slider
- select the “Normal state – zone” pressing “UP arrow” or “DOWN arrow”.
Normal state - zone
In this screen you see at the same time on/off status, volume and input source of 6 zones. It is also possible to change this
status acting directly on the favourite zone.
You access this screen pressing “UP arrow” or “DOWN arrow” in the “Normal state – time” condition.
On/off status column:
All zones off, or
At least one zone on
Zone:

zones 3 and 5 with priority
When the selection of the cursor is on the name of a zone (“hall” in the example), keyboard operations are:
- CANCEL key: back to “Time and notification icons visualization”
- OK key: allow you to enter in the administration zone menu (see “zone admin” in the main menu)
- arrow keys: changing of selected zone
- slider right: parameters access
7
Using the slider, you can move the selection cursor from the name of the zone to the favourite parameter:
In this case, the keyboard works differently:
- arrow keys: parameter modifying (on/off zone, volume changing, input source changing)
- OK key: forwarding to next zone; the cursor remains on the selected column
- ESC key: quick return of the selection cursor to the zone name
- slider: move the cursor between parameters or the zone name
QUICK SYSTEM SETUP
In order to startup the system you have to follow 4 steps:
Configure main unit settings
Configure audio/video sources
Configure zones
System startup
Main unit settings
1. Enter the navigation menu (press OK when display is in normal state - time)
2. Select UNIT SETUP…
3. Select the favourite language; following items are related to English language
4. In line DATE set the current date (DayOfTheWeek Day/Month/Year)
5. In line TIME set the current time (hour:minutes). Select also AUTO DAYLIGHT S.T. if your country adopt daylight
saving time and you want that the unit automatically does the correction on last Saturday of March and October.
6. Under SOURCES NUMBER select the number of centralized sources connected to the matrix.
Notice: this setting is for all zones, each zone will listen up to the maximum input number set in this line (in ZONES
SETUP… there will be the possibility to selectively exclude some sources for the zone within those globally available)
7. Enable (with a check mark) or disable “LOCAL INS ENABLED” depending on whether local sources are or not
connected to the matrix. Notice: this setting is for all zones, if there is at least one local source connected to the matrix
enable this option (in ZONES SETUP… there will be the possibility to selectively exclude the presence of local zone
source)
Source settings
1. Enter the navigation menu (press OK when display is in normal state - time)
2. Select SOURCES SETUP…
3. Use the slider for cycling between the 8 centralized sources and press OK on the one you want to configure.
Notice: for the first installation use the reference number of the source (not its name), you can change the
name of the source when entering the configuration
4. Select submenu CHANGE NAME… if you want to change the name of the source:
4.1. Press OK on the name you want. It’s possible to cycle between a predetermined list of names
5. Under TYPE select the type of audio input source: MONO or STEREO. Notice: if the source is mono you can plug the
audio signal indifferently on left or right input.
6. Under “SENS.” select the audio output level (measured in Vrms) of the source. For the inputs 1 to 6 the range spans
from 0.5 Vrms and 2 Vrms. For inputs 7 and 8 the range spans from 1.07 to 4.25 Vrms. Proper configuration of this
parameter is very important to ensure undistorted sound and uniformity on listening volume when switching between
different sources. If signal output level is unknown we recommend starting with high values and then go down slowly.
Notice: if these values are changed with the system running, they have no immediate effect on the zones. Just switch
off and then switch on the zone to apply changes.
Zone settings
1. Enter the navigation menu (press OK when display is in normal state - time)
2. Select ZONES SETUP…
3. Use the slider for cycling through available zones (the total number of zones depends on the number of MTxE816
expansions installed) and press OK on the one you want to configure
4. Under OUT TYPE select if the output is MONO or STEREO. If you configure the output as MONO the matrix automatically
mixes stereo inputs to generate a mono output
8
5. Under LOUDSP.TYPE select the type of speakers in the zone. If the zone has one or two 4 ohm or 8 ohm loudspeakers
select PASSIVE. If the zone has amplified speakers select ACTIVE. Notice: it’s possible to leave ACTIVE with passive
loudspeakers, the only difference is that the maximum output power will be lower.
6. Enabling RESTORE STATUS the zone automatically return to the status it was at unit power off. The option can be
useful whether you want to ensure a continuity of music after lack of electricity
7. Setting MAXIMUM VOLUME it’s possible to limit the maximum listening volume in zone.
8. If you want to exclude the listening of some sources in a zone within those globally connected (see paragraph 'main
unit settings') you can turn off the check mark next to the names of sources. The same thing applies to the local input of
the zone, named “L LOCAL”
System startup
The startup of the system includes the step of “AFFILIATION” where each zone controller is assigned to the own zone
listening.
1. Enter the navigation menu (press OK when display is in normal state - time)
2. Select UNIT SETUP…
3. Select INSTALLATION
4. Select AFFILIATION…
5. Accept with YES the warning message that appears
6. Perform the procedure to link controllers to zones (refer to controllers’instruction manual). Everytime you can change
the current zone by scrolling the slider over CURRENT ZONE line
6.1 for CZ830 controllers push ESC/OFF on every zone’s controllers; to set the next zone push “joystick up” key
6.2 for CZ83 controllers push OFF on every zone’s controllers; to set the next zone push “volume +” key
6.3 for MC1 microphone controllers push UP on every zone’s controllers; to set the next zone push UP again
6.4 for RC83 radio remote controls: push the power off button (in the up-right side of the remote control); to set the next
zone push near “0” on the numerical keyboard
For others controllers affiliation or further details refer to owners instruction manuals.
7. When all the controllers have been linked, select END PROCEDURE (or press the OK button twice), the unit will
automatically switch off and on
If you want to remotely control audio/video sources through STIF devices or intelligent Tutondo sources (e.g. S2R2UT), you
have to perform a synchronization between zone controllers and that devices. This operation is required every time
display-zone controllorers devices (CZ830) or STIF (also changes made on IR codes inside STIF) are added to the
system:
1. Enter the navigation menu (press OK when display is in normal state - time)
2. Select UNIT SETUP…
3. Select INSTALLATION
4. Select SYNC. FNC.INTERFACES
5. Wait until display returns to normal status
The system is now ready to work.

ALARM CLOCK SETUP
Alarm clocks let you to play the desidered source in 1 or more zones according to a desidered timetable.
Alarm clocks are lasting events, so they have a start and a stop time. When the stop time is reached the related zones
return to previous states.
Alarm clocks don’t have priority and acts only at the programmed start and stop time. This means that:
1) if the zone is in priority state (see “I Events” paragraph) at start time, that alarm clock won’t act
2) at any time, user can change zone parameters
Source selection concerns audio source, video follows the rule currently configured on zone (video off, video follows audio,
video on source n).
Optionally, it’s possible to:
1) set listening volume
2) send a command to source (if a STIF is associated to the source)
3) act on relays (see “Relays management”)
The maximum number of alarm clocks is 60, by default no alarm clock is programmed.
Selecting ALARM CLOCK SETUP… it’s possible to look through the active alarm clocks. You can see current selected alarm
clock / total alarm clocks number. Pressing OK you can modify/delete the current one; to add a new one you have to go
beyond the last alarm clock (a “+” will appear) and confirm with OK to start the parameters setup.
