IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Seaward Products model 93400B range hood is designed to be used with a
12 volt DC source ONLY.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of shock or injury to persons, observe the following:
Installation and wiring must be done by qualified persons in accordance with all applicable
codes and standards.
When cutting or drilling into walls or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other
hidden utilities.
Use this unit in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If you have any questions
contact Seaward Products.
Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power off at service panel and lock out or tag to
prevent power from accidentally being switched on.
For general ventilating use only. Do not use to exhaust hazardous or explosive material or
vapors.
Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boil-over cause smoking and greasy
spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.
Always turn hood on when cooking at high heat or when cooking flaming foods.
Clean filter or replace filter and clean fan area frequently. Grease should never be allowed
to accumulate on fan or filter.
Always use proper pan size. Only use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface
element.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of shock or injury to persons, in the event of a range top grease
fire observe the following:
Smother flames with a close fitting lid, cookie sheet, or other metal tray. Then turn off the
gas burner or the electric element. Be careful to prevent burns. If the flames do not go out
use a fire extinguisher.
Use a fire extinguisher only if:
1: You have a class ABC extinguisher and you know how to operate it.
2: The fire is small and contained in the area where it started.
3: You can fight the fire with your back to an exit.
4: If available, call the fire department.
Never pick up a flaming pan.
Do not use water, including wet dishcloths or towels – a violent steam explosion will result.

INSTALLATION
Plan the installation – Locate the area the hood is to be installed in.
Switch power off at the power panel, tag or lock panel.
If range or cooktop is in place be sure to place a protective covering over it to prevent
damage and accumulation of dirt on surfaces.
It is recommended that the hood bottom edges be positioned 20” to 24” above the cooking
surfaces, see Fig-1.
Decide on the use of a rear wall mounting or top surface mounting. See Fig-2 for location
on mounting holes. NOTE: The electrical access is always on the top surface (12 volt DC).
Mark the mounting hole locations on the mounting surface (rear or top wall). Mark the
electrical access hole location. Drill a ø1.1/4” hole for the electrical access. Mount the hood
with four (4) #8x1” wood screws. Be sure the screws are being driven into a solid
supporting framework. If a framework is not available use the four (4) anchors and screws
supplied – use a ø3/16” drill to prepare the mounting surface for the anchor.
Remove the hood fan cover by removing the two (2) fan cover retainers to access the hood
mounting holes, see Fig-3
Pull the two (2) electrical connection wires from the hood through the wiring access hole
previously drilled. Hold the hood in place and secure with four (4) screws.
Connect the hood wiring to the power source (Red is + and Black is -), 12 volt DC only.
Replace the fan cover.
Turn the power panel switch on.
Check operation of the hood fan and lighting.
The hood is now ready for use.
USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
The light and fan switches are located on the center-front bottom surface of the hood, see Fig-3.
The light switch is the right and the fan is the left.
Lighting consists of two (2) 12 volt, 20 watt halogen lamps. To access the lamp for replacement,
remove the glass lens.
CAUTION: Turn power off to the hood before replacing lamps.
Do not use lamps with wattage greater than 20 watts.
Use CH-178 series replacement lamps, 20 watt maximum.
CLEANING:
STAINLESS STEEL: Although stainless steel is very strong and durable it does require some
maintenance to keep it looking like new. It is recommended that you periodically clean the
exposed surfaces with a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner or warn water and mild detergent
solution (always rinse and dry immediately). Hard water spots can be cleaned with household
white vinegar. Stainless Steel Magic® is an acceptable cleaner / polish to protect the finish and
appearance. When wiping the hood always wipe in the direction of the brush (graining) lines.
FILTER: The filter can be cleaned by removing the two filter screws, see Fig-3. Soak the filter in a
warm water and detergent solution – after soaking swish the filter in the solution, rinse and let air-
dry. After drying, replace and assemble the filter screws. It is recommended that the filter be
replaced periodically depending on the degree of soiling and its general condition.
When the filter is removed, wipe the area around the fan with a cloth dampened with a water and
detergent solution (do not use a cloth that is dripping wet).
CAUTION: Always turn power off to the hood when performing this operation. Never put
your hand into the area housing the fan when the fan is running.
