Dear Customer,
By purchasing this Internet radio, you have decided in favour of a
quality product from Hama which corresponds to the latest state of
development with respect to technology and functional performance.
The IR100 is used for playing back music via PC, Internet or net-
works.
Please read the information contained in this user manual to familiar-
ise yourself quickly with the device and be able to make full use of its
functions.
We wish you a lot of pleasure with the device.
Information on this user manual
This user manual forms an integral part of the IR100 Internet radio
(hereinafter referred to as device) and contains important information
on the intended use, safety, connection and operation of the device.
The user manual must be kept near the device at all times. Its con-
tents must be read and applied by all persons who use or maintain
the device.
Keep this user manual in a safe place and pass it on with the device
to any future owners.

This device is only intended for the playback of audio les via PC,
Internet or networks and external MP3 players.
Any other use other than previously stated is considered as improper
use.

This device complies with the prescribed safety regulations. Improper
use can however, result in personal injury and/or damage to the
device.
Danger of electric shock
DANGER
Danger to life by electric shock!
Contact with live wires or components could lead to serious
injury or even death!
Observe the following safety precautions to avoid electric shocks:
Do not use this device if the mains adapter, power cable or plug
is damaged.
On no account should the housing of the device be opened.
Danger of electric shock if live connections are touched and/or
the electrical and mechanical conguration is changed.
Handling batteries
WARNING
Danger resulting from improper use!
Observe the following safety instructions to ensure safe handling of
the batteries:
Do not throw batteries into a re.
Do not short circuit the batteries.
Do not try to re-charge the batteries.
Check the battery regularly. Leaking battery acid can cause
permanent damage to the device. Particular care and attention
is required when dealing with damaged or leaking batteries.
Danger of acid burning! Wear protective gloves.
Keep batteries out of the hands of children. If swallowed, con-
sult a doctor immediately.
Remove the battery from the remote control when the device is
not to be used for a longer period of time.

Fundamental safety precautions
Observe the following safety instructions to ensure safe handling of
the device:
Inspect the device for visible signs of damage before use. Do not
use a damaged device.
Do not allow children to play with the device.
Persons who due to their physical, mental or motor response
abilities are unable to operate the device may only use it under
supervision or instruction by a responsible person.
Do not open the device. Unauthorised opening and repairs can
lead to considerable danger for the user and cause serious
damage to the device. Only allow qualied persons to carry out
repairs. Improper repairs will void the warranty.
Repairs to the device during the warranty period may only be
carried out by service centres authorised by the manufacturer oth-
erwise the warranty will become void in the event of subsequent
damage.
Defective parts may only be replaced with original spare parts.
Only these parts guarantee that the safety requirements are satis-
ed.
Protect the device against humidity and penetration by liquids. If
the device comes into contact with liquids, disconnect it from the
power supply immediately.
Clean the housing of the device with a slightly dampened cloth.
Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or sol-
vents.
Always pull the mains lead out of the plug socket at the plug, not
at the mains lead.
Do not place any objects on the device.
Electronic devices are sensitive so avoid knocks and blows.
Disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket in the event
of faults or during thunderstorms.

Safety precautions
DANGER
Persons may be injured or material damage may be caused
when putting the device into operation!
Observe the following safety precautions to avoid danger:
Packaging materials must not be used as toys. Risk of suffoca-
tion.
Follow all instructions on requirements for the place of operation
as well the electrical connection of the device to avoid personal
injury and material damage.
Unpacking
Unpack all parts of the device including the user manual.
Remove all packing material from the device before using.
Checking contents and packaging
The device is supplied with the following components as standard:
Internet radio
Stereo audio cable, equipped with a 3.5 mm jack plug at each
end
Remote control
1 type CR 2025 battery for the remote control
Mains adapter

NOTE
Check for damage or missing items on delivery. Report incom-
plete or damaged items to your supplier/retailer immediately.

Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the device against damage during transit.
The packaging materials have been selected according to environ-
mental and waste disposal aspects and can therefore be recycled.
Disposing of the packaging for recycling helps conserve raw materi-
als and reduces waste. When no longer required, dispose of the
packaging materials in accordance with the local regulations.
NOTE
If possible, keep the original packaging during the warranty pe-
riod in order to be able to pack the device properly in the event
of a warranty claim.
Requirements for the place of operation
For safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the place of opera-
tion must satisfy the following requirements:
The device must be set up on a solid, at and horizontal surface.
The device is designed for operation within an ambient tempera-
ture range from +5°C to +35°C.
Do not use the device in a hot, wet or very humid environment.
Do not expose the device to direct sunlight.
Do not install the device in the vicinity of magnetic elds.
Make sure that there is sufcient space for ventilation.
The mains socket must be easily accessible and enable fast
disconnection in the event of an emergency.
A network connection should be close to the device (LAN/PC,
WLAN/Router).

Electrical connection
For safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the following in-
structions on electrical connection must be observed:
The device is supplied with 9V AC voltage via the mains adapter
supplied. Always use the mains adapter supplied to connect the
device to the mains supply.
Before connecting the device, compare the connection data (volt-
age and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your mains
adapter. This data must correspond in order to avoid damage to
the device.
Make sure that the power cable does not come in contact with hot
surfaces or sharp edges.
Make sure that the power cable is not stretched tightly or twisted.
Do not allow the power cable to hang over edges (danger of trip-
ping).
If the device is not to be used for a longer period of time, discon-
nect the mains adapter from the mains supply.
Mains connection
Insert the mains adapter plug into the DC IN socket (14) on the
back of the device.
Insert the mains adapter into the mains socket.
Network connection
Wired network
Check rst of all whether the control lamps (LINK/ACT) of your
LAN connection or your router light up
NOTE
Information on the LAN connection can be obtained from the
user manual of the router manufacturer.

Use an Ethernet cable with RJ45 connector (20) and connect to
the LAN port (15) of the device with the LAN port of your router.
Wireless network
Check rst of all whether the control lamps (LINK/ACT) of your
WLAN connection or your router light up
NOTE
Information on the WLAN/WiFi network connection can be ob-
tained from the user manual of the router manufacturer.
NOTE
WiFi enables wireless data transmission between devices.
However, walls or other obstacles may inuence the range.
Try to nd the best location within the above mentioned dis-
tance to avoid interruption and interference while operating the
device.

Additional connections
Connecting a USB mass storage device
(e. g. MP3 player, external USB hard drive, USB stick)
Connect the USB mass storage device (e. g. MP3 player, USB
stick or USB hard drive) to the USB port (15) of the device.
This enables you to access the contents of a USB mass storage
device.
Connecting an external loudspeaker system
An external loudspeaker system can be connected to improve the
sound quality of the device.
Connect an external loudspeaker system via the LINE OUT
socket (13) using the audio cable supplied.
Startup
Insert the battery into the remote control
Remove the supplied battery from its packaging.
To insert the battery, proceed as follows:
Pull the battery compartment out of the remote control.
Remove the used battery and replace with a type CR2025 lithium
cell. Pay attention to polarity when inserting a new battery (plus
pole facing upwards).
Push the battery compartment back into the remote control.
NOTE
Change the battery if the range of the remote control decreases
or if the device no longer reacts to all commands.

Switching the device ON and OFF
Switching on
After connecting to the mains supply, switch on the device with the
ON/OFF switch (11) on the back of the device (ON).
Press the STANDBY button (7) afterwards to switch to the operating
mode.
Switching off
NOTE
Pressing the ON/OFF button (1) on the remote control switches
the device to Standby mode.
Move the ON/OFF switch(11) on the back of the device to the OFF
position.

Operation
Each function of the device is selected via a menu consisting of
several levels.
Initial startup
Switch on the device. The main menu appears after a few sec-
onds.
The functions in the main menu are displayed as symbols on the
screen.
To go to a function or open a sub-menu, use the Navigation
rotary knob (8a) to select the desired function and subsequently
press the rotary knob (8b) (SELECT function = "Select" function).
During initial startup, the system prompts you to start the SETUP
WIZARD.
Select YES to begin with the setup.
NOTE
Detailed information on the SETUP WIZARD can be found in
the SYSTEM SETTINGS section.
If you are using a wired network, you can exit the SETUP WIZ-
ARD by selecting NO.
The system will then prompt you to start the SETUP WIZARD the
next time the device is switched on.

Press the STANDBY button (7) to switch to standby mode. Now
the time, date and all activated alarm times are displayed.
The next time the device is switched on, it will automatically con-
nect itself to the pre-set network. If connection is to be established to
another network, select SYSTEM SETTINGS to congure the desired
connection.

Select the desired function by turning the rotary
navigation knob (8a) and conrm selection by pressing the navi-
gation button (8b).
