Getting to Know Your Phone

Charge the phone
Connect the
USB cable to your
phone.
Insert the other
end of the USB
cable into the power adapter.
Plug in the power adapter to an
electrical outlet to start charging.
Important: Please use the power
adapter and USB cable that came in the
box for optimum battery performance.
Turn on your phone
Press and hold the power button on
the top panel.

The first time you turn on your phone,
you’ll be guided to choose the default
language, enable location services, and
more.
To lock and unlock the phone, press the
power button briefly.
Getting Started
After initial setup, log into Facebook to
get the best experience on your phone.
Log into Facebook
 Tap Log into Facebook.
Sign into your Facebook account.
Or to create a new account, tap
Sign Up for Facebook.
Update your contact info
Make sure you add your new number to
your Facebook account.
Open the Facebook app.
 Tap , then tap your name.
Tap your name, then tap About
(under your cover photo).
 Tap About, then scroll down to the
Contact section to update your first
phone number.
Connect to Facebook

Quick Start
Stay in touch and get the latest updates

feed.

Google Play Store is the place to go to
find a variety of free and paid apps and
more for your phone.
Open the Play Store app.
Browse by featured apps or search for
the app you want, then tap an app.
 Tap Install (for free apps) or the price
button (for paid apps).
If you agree to the conditions, tap
Accept & download or Accept & buy.
Note: A Google Wallet™ payment
method is required to purchase a paid
app. You need to associate a valid credit
card or debit card to your Google Wallet
account to purchase a paid app.
Allow app updates
Make sure you’re always using the
best version of Facebook by allowing
automatic updates.
Open the Play Store app. Log in if you
haven’t yet.
Search for the Facebook app.
 Tap Allow automatic updating for
Facebook to make sure your app
stays current.
To open the app launcher from your
cover feed, press and hold your profile
picture, then drag it to .
Share directly to Facebook:
• Tap to post a status.
• Tap to post a photo.
• Tap to check into a location.
Customize your app launcher
You can add your favorite apps to the
app launcher for easy access.
From the app launcher, swipe right to
see a list of all your apps.
Press and hold an app to drag it to
your app launcher on the right.

Add a new contact
Sync contacts from online accounts
like Google

Choose an online account to sync.
Enter the contact information, then
tap Done.
Make a phone call
Open the Phone app, then do any of
the following:
• Enter a phone number, then tap .
• Tap , browse through your
contact list, and then tap a contact.
To hang up, tap .
Check your voicemail
Open the Phone app.
Press and hold the number 1 key.
Enter your passcode, if you use one.
Follow the voice prompts.

At the bottom of the photo gallery

Point the camera at what you want to

On the cover feed,
press and hold your
profile picture, then
drag it to .

a friend to message
or type a mobile
number to send a
text.
Type your message, then tap Send.
Message through chat heads
When a friend sends you a Facebook
message, you’ll see chat heads appear
even while you’re using other apps.
• Tap chat heads to
open the message.
• To close all chat
heads, drag the
profile pictures to .
• Drag chat heads to
move them around
your screen.

With the built-in NFC (near field
communication), you can share content
such as a web page or contact info to
someone’s mobile device in an instant.
Turn on NFC and Android Beam
Open the Settings app.
 Under Wireless & networks, tap
More.
Make sure that the NFC and Android
Beam options are turned on.
Share content with NFC
Make sure that both devices have
NFC and Android Beam turned on.
While viewing the content that you
want to share, hold your device and
the other device back to back.
You’ll hear a sound and both devices
will vibrate slightly when connected.
Tap the screen. The shared content
appears on the recipient’s screen.

Connect to a Wi-Fi network
On the All apps screen, tap Settings.
Turn on Wi-Fi using its On/Off switch.
 Tap Wi-Fi, then choose a Wi-Fi
network to connect to (secured
networks require a passkey).
Tethering and Mobile Hotspot*
• To use tethering, attach the device
you want to tether to your phone with
a USB cable. On the All apps screen,
tap Settings > More > Tethering &
portable hotspot. Select the USB
tethering option.
• To enable a portable hotspot, tap
Settings on the All apps screen, then
tap More > Tethering & portable
hotspot > Set up Wi-Fi hotspot. Enter
your hotspot settings, then tap Save.
Select Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to turn
on.
