Sway-A-Way 401-5600-14 is a high-performance shock absorber designed for 2007-2016 Jeep Wrangler JKs. It features an Internal Floating Piston (IFP) design that separates the shock oil from the nitrogen gas charge, eliminating oil aeration and ensuring consistent damping performance even under extreme conditions. The piggyback reservoir provides additional oil capacity for better heat dissipation and fade resistance, making it ideal for demanding off-road use.

Removal and Installation Procedure for JK Front
(Shocks are already charged with Nitrogen)
1. Park the vehicle on a level concrete surface where it is safe to work on your vehicle.
2. Lock and center the steering wheel.
3. Place blocks in front and behind the rear tires so as to keep the vehicle from moving forwards or backwards.
4. Jack the vehicle up under the front differential and place safely on jack stands under the front frame horns. Slightly
raise the front end, only enough to take the weight off the shocks, and place another pair of jack stands under the
front end on either side of the differential.
5. Use 19mm socket to remove lug nuts and wheels
6. Use 18mm to remove lower shock bolt.
7. Use ¾ socket to remove upper shock bolt and remove the old shock.
8. Remove the washer and top urethane spacer from the new shock’s top cap stud. Insert stud into top mount hole.
Replace the urethane spacer, then the washer, and thread the nut onto the stud using the ¾ socket.

9. Shocks equipped with piggyback reservoirs should be installed with the reservoir orientated towards the rear of the
vehicle.
10. With the jack under the differential, adjust the front end height till the original bolt can pass through the lower mount
and the rod end. Tighten using 18mm wrench and socket. Also tighten the top mount nut with the ¾ socket.
**All lift kits have different geometry and some can cause a 2.5” shock to come in contact with the frame on
the passenger side at full extension. It is recommended to use an adjustable track bar to compensate, or to
use lower shock relocation brackets to move the lower mount closer to the wheel.
11. Reinstall wheels and tighten lug nuts to factory spec.
12. Once the vehicle is lowered safely to the ground. Turn the front wheels fully left and fully right and visually check that
there is clearance between the brake line and tire.
