Workplace Smart Checklist
Safeguarding your online privacy shouldn’t mean disrupting the way you work. That’s why it’s smart to understand what
it means to protect yourself from cyber threats while in your office.
Save sensitive files or folders with password protection, and restrict access only to those who need it
Cover your webcam and turn off your microphone on your computer when not in use
ALWAYS lock your computer when you leave your desk
Immediately process software updates when prompted
Use strong and unique passwords and update them often every 3 months is a good timeframe.
NEVER use the same password for multiple accounts
Shut your computer down between uses full encryption only works at rest so if you only use the ‘sleep’
option, encryption is not enabled
NEVER allow another employee to use your devices, if they have a problem with their device, advise that they
contact IT
Don’t click on links or open attachments from an unknown source
If you know the sender but it seems suspicious, check with them first
If you are prompted to update a password or act in some other way for a site via email, go directly to the
site in your browser to avoid falling for a phishing scam
Logout of your email account between uses
