What is DRM?
The Windows Media Digital Rights Management (WMDRM) program is provided
by Microsoft to help protect the copyright of songs. This MP3 player has been
designed to meet all the requirements of DRM10.
Minimum Requirements
PC Environment: Windows XP with Windows Media Player 10 installed. Windows
Media Player 10 is available from the Microsoft update site for Windows
XP users.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
DRM10 is only available from Windows Media player v10.3646 or above
(commonly referred to as WMP10) and the Windows XP operating system.
WMDRM10 cannot run on Windows 98/Windows 98SE/Windows
ME/Windows 2000 operating systems.
Why downloaded songs must go through WMP10
WMP10 uses a special transfer protocol called MTP (Media Transfer
Protocol) to download the digitally rights managed songs. Although other
USB devices and Operating Systems which are not MTP compliant can
still download these same DRM songs, they will not be able to be played
because they cannot un-encrypt the files for playback. It is for this reason
that the Windows XP Operating system be used to download these
tracks, and that these tracks must be downloaded through Windows
11
Media Player.
