General Safety
WARNING.
Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may
result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future
reference and ensure other users read this manual before use.
Work area safety
Keep work area clean and well lit. Avoid using pruning shears indoors and in dangerous
environments.
Do not operate machine in presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Sparks from
operation may ignite dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating the pruning shears.
Thoroughly inspect area where pruning shears is to be used. Remove all objects that could be
tripped over or thrown when cutting. Thrown objects may cause serious injury.
Do not use power tools in rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the
risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
Become familiar with all controls and their proper operation before using the pruning shears.
Know how to stop the pruning shears and how to disengage the power in an emergency.
Always wear appropriate clothing & do not wear loose clothing or jewellery that can get caught
in moving parts.
Wear appropriate protective equipment and clothing such as dust mask, non-skid safety
shoes, and hard hat. Always wear eye protection.
Remove all work tools from the pruning shears before turning it on.
Stay alert & do not operate the pruning shears when tired. Pay close attention when operating
pruning shears and ensure others are aware of your intentions before using pruning shears.
Do not operate the pruning shears while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
Always walk & never run with the pruning shears and do not use it in a rush.
Use extreme care when approaching blind corners, doorways or other objects that may
obscure your view & path of the pruning shears.
Keep all parts of body away from the chain when the pruning shears is operating. Before
starting the pruning shears, make sure the chain is not in contact with anything.
Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only. Blades in contact with metal parts or
live wire may give the operator an electric shock.
Do not operate pruning shears while up in a tree as this may result in personal injury.
Always keep proper footing and operate pruning shears only when standing on a fixed, secure
and level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces such as ladders may cause loss of balance or
control of the machine.
When cutting a limb under tension, be alert of spring back. When the tension in the wood
fibres is released by cutting it, the spring loaded limb may strike the operator and/or throw the
pruning shears out of control.

General Safety
Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Greasy or oily handles are slippery and may
cause loss of control.
Cut wood only. Do not use machine for unintended purposes. For example, do not use pruning
shears for cutting plastic, masonry or non-wood building materials as this is hazardous.
Machine use and care
If the machine starts to vibrate excessively or if the switch does not turn it on and off. Discontinue
use until the pruning shears has been inspected and fixed if required.
Do not apply excessive force on the pruning shears. Use it for intended application only.
Remove the battery pack from the pruning shears before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, inspecting, adjusting, servicing or cleaning the pruning shears. Such safety measures
reduce the risk of starting the machine unintentionally.
Store machine out of the reach of children. Do not allow children, persons unfamiliar with the
machine or an impaired person to use the machine.
Additional safety warnings
It is recommended that inexperienced users should be trained by an experienced operator.
Children and juveniles, with the exception of apprentices older than 16 years and under supervision
must not operate the pruning shears.
Operating instructions should be kept handy.
Unfit or tired persons must not operate the pruning shears.
The blade should come to a standstill before placing it down.
Hold power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the cutting
accessory may contact hidden wiring. Cutting accessory contacting a “live” wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
Use suitable detectors to search for hidden supply lines, or call the local utility company for
assistance. Contact with electric lines can lead to fire and electric shock. Damaging a gas line can
lead to explosion. Penetrating a water line causes property damage.
Keep hands away from the cutting area. Do not grip the underside of the work piece. Contact with
the shear blade can lead to injuries.
Keep hands away from contact with the shear blade may result in injury.
Apply the machine to the work piece only when switched on. Otherwise there is danger of
kickback when the cutting tool jams in the work piece.
When the cut is completed, switch off the machine and then pull the shear blade out of the cut
only after it has come to a standstill. In this manner you can avoid kickback and can place down
the machine securely.
Use only undamaged shear blades that are in perfect condition. Bent or dull shear blades can
break, negatively influence the cut, or lead to kickback.

General Safety
Do not brake the shear blade to a stop by applying side pressure after switching off. The shear
blade can be damaged, break or cause kickback.
Clamp material well. Do not support the work piece with your hand or foot. Do not touch objects
or the floor with the shears running. Danger of kickback.
Secure the work piece. A work piece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more
secure than by hand.
Always wait until the machine has come to a complete stop before placing it down. The tool
insert can jam and lead to loss of control over the power tool.
Before any work on the machine (e. g. maintenance, changing the tool, etc.) as well as during its
transport and storage, lock the On/Off switch in the off position. There is danger of injury when
the On/Off switch is unintentionally actuated.
Protect the power tool against heat, e. g., against continuous intense sunlight, fire, water, and
moisture. Danger of explosion.
Wear the dust mask when using the tool.
Additional Warnings
It has been reported that vibrations from hand-held tools may contribute to a condition called
Raynaud’s Syndrome in certain individuals. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness and
blanching of the fingers, usually apparent upon exposure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure
to cold and dampness, diet, smoking and work practices are all thought to contribute to the
development of these symptoms. It is presently unknown what, if any, vibrations or extent of
exposure may contribute to the condition. There are measures that can be taken by the operator to
possibly reduce the effects of vibration:
Keep your body warm in cold weather. When operating the unit wear gloves to keep the hands
and wrists warm.
After each period of operation, exercise to increase blood circulation.
Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day.
Keep a tight grip on the handles.
Only use the pruning shears as intended by design and instructions.
Ensure the pruning shears is well maintained and in good condition.
Maintain the pruning shears in accordance with these instructions and keep it well lubricated.
If you experience any of the symptoms of this condition, immediately discontinue use and see your
physician about these symptoms.
