GENERAL POWER TOOL SAFETY
WARNINGS
WARNING: Read all safety warnings and
instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future
reference.
The term power tool in the warnings refers to your
electric (corded) power tool or battery-operated
(cordless) power tool.
1) WORK AREA SAFETY
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or
dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools
create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.
2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any

adapter plugs with grounded power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce
risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces
such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord
for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power
tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp
edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled
cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use
an extension cord suitable for outdoor use
marked “W-A” or “W”. Use of a cord suitable for
outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your
extension cord is in good condition. When using an
extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to
carry the current your product will draw. An undersized
cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of
power and overheating. Table 1 shows the correct size
to use depending on cord length and nameplate ampere
rating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gage. The
smaller the gage number, the heavier the cord.

f) If operating a power tool in a damp location
is unavoidable, use a Ground Fault Circuit
Interupter (GFCI) protected supply. Use of a
GFCI reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and
use common sense when operating a power
tool. Do not use a power tool while you are
tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol
or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious personal
injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always
wear eye protection. Protective equipment such
as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or
hearing protection used for appropriate conditions
will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the
switch is in the off-position before connecting
to power source and/or battery pack, picking
up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with
your finger on the switch or energizing power tools
that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left
attached to a rotating part of the power tool may
result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better control
of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry
or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection
of dust extraction and collection facilities,
ensure these are connected and properly
used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related
hazards.
4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate
for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does
not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot
be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must
be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source
and/or the battery pack from the power tool
before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. Such

preventive safety measures reduce the risk of
starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of
children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the power tool or these instructions
to operate the power tool. Power tools are
dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment
or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts
and any other condition that may affect the
power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the
power tool repaired before use. Many accidents
are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits
etc., in accordance with these instructions
and in the manner intended for the particular
type of power tool, taking into account
the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations
different from those intended could result in a
hazardous situation.
h) Use clamps or another practical way to
secure and support the workpiece to a stable
platform.
i) Holding the work by hand or against your
body leaves it unstable and may lead to loss
of control.
5) SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a
qualified repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the
safety of the power tool is maintained.
WARNING: Some dust created by power
sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other
construction activities contains chemicals known to
the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects
or other reproductive harm. Some examples of these
chemicals are:
• Leadfromlead-basedpaints;
• Crystallinesilicafrombricksandcementandother
masonry products and
• Arsenicandchromiumfromchemically-treatedlumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how
often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure
to these chemicals: work in a well ventilated area, and
work with approved safety equipment, such as those dust
masks that are specially designed to filter out microscopic
particles.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY POINTS
FOR YOUR SANDER
1. Harmful/toxic dusts will arise from sanding e.g. lead
painted surfaces, woods and metals. Contact with
or inhalation of these dusts can endanger the health
of operator and bystanders. Always use eye glasses
and dust mask.
2. Hearing protection should be worn when using the
sander.
3. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields
when using the sander. Everyday eyeglasses
have only impact-resistant lenses; they are
not safety glasses. Following this rule will reduce
the risk of serious personal injury.
4. Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out
any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.
5. Fully unwind an extension cord to avoid potential
overheating.
6. When an extension cord is required you must ensure
it has the correct ampere rating for your power tool
and is in a safe electrical condition.
7. Ensure your electrical supply voltage is same as
indicated on the rating plate.
8. Your tool is double insulated for additional protection
against a possible electrical insulation failure within
the tool.
9. Always check walls, floors and ceilings to avoid
hidden power cables and pipes.
10. After long working periods, external metal parts and
accessories could be hot.
11. If possible, ensure the work-piece is firmly clamped
to prevent movement.
12. Your sander is a hand held tool, do not clamp your
sander.
13. Before sanding, check the area is free of nails,
screws, etc.
14. Never stop the sander by applying a force to the
base plate.
15. Only use paper in good condition. Do not use torn or
worn paper.
16. Do not sand material containing asbestos due to a
health risk.

17. Do not sand lead based paint due to the risk of lead
poisoning.
18. Do not eat or drink in the working area of the sander.
19. Do not allow people to enter the working area
without wearing a dust mask.
20. Where possible, seal off the working area to contain
the dust for later removal.
21. Your tool is designed for dry sanding only, not wet
sanding.
22. Your tool is designed for general purpose light
polishing of wood and metals.
23. Do not sand magnesium material due to the risk of
fire.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: Before using the tool, read the instruction
book carefully.
1. CHANGING HOOK & LOOP SANDPAPER (See Fig. A)
Sanding paper is easily attached on the pad of your
sander. Fit the inner paper over the plate so that it
covers the entire area, push and slightly twist to make
sure the coated sanding paper is even on the plate. In
the same way, fit the outer sanding paper. Make sure
the sanding paper is even with the edges and that the
sanding paper is taut on the pad.
Remove the abrasive paper by pinching an edge and
peeling off.
2. CYCLONIC DUST/AIR SEPARATOR (See Fig. B, C)
A) ATTACH THE CYCLONIC DUST/AIR SEPARATOR
(See Fig. B)
Your sander is equipped with a cyclonic dust/air
separator. To attach, slide the separator onto the outlet
piece and take care that the latching levers engage.
Make sure that the dust extraction tubes are upwards.
CAUTION:
To prevent the possibility of sanding dust or
foreign body being thrown into your face or eyes, never
attempt to use your sander without the box properly
installed.
B) EMPTY THE CYCLONIC DUST/AIR SEPARATOR
(See Fig. C)
For more efficient operation, empty the cyclonic dust/
air separator every 5-10mins. This will permit the air to
flow through the separator better.
To empty the separator, press the latching levers in and
pull off the separator. Then press the button at the rear
of the box to open it, and shake out dust.
3. USING THE DUST EXTRACTION ADAPTER (See
Fig. D)
Your sander is equipped with a dust adapter, which is
designed for use with a vacuum hose. To attach, slide
the adapter onto the outlet piece and take care that
the latching levers engage. Then connect the hose of a
vacuum cleaner. Turn on the vacuum cleaner, and then
turn on the sander. If you stop sanding, first turn off the
sander, then turn off your vacuum cleaner.
4. ON/OFF SWITCH (See Fig. E)
To start your sander, depress the protective cover
over the switch at the position marked“I”. To stop your
sander, depress the protective cover at the position
marked “0”.
5. USING THE SANDER (See Fig. F )
NOTE: If you see some sparks flashing in the ventilation
slots do not panic, this is normal and will not damage
the tool.
Be sure to hold the sander firmly while it is on and
applyitgentlytothework;itmaykickonrstcontact.
Hold the sander so that it is flat on the work and move
slowly, preferably in parallel lines, circles, or crosswise
movements. When you first turn it on, make sure that
your finger remains on the switch so you can STOP the
sander in case there is a problem.
Switch the sander on with the base away from the
workpiece. Let the motor reach full speed then operate
sanding. Remove the sander form the workpiece before
switching off.
6. SELECT THE RIGHT GRADE OF SAND PAPER
Different grades of sanding sheet can be purchased
from the store where the sander was purchased,
or www.rockwelltools.com. Available grades range from
coarse to fine.
•Useacoarsegrittosanddownroughnishes,medium
grit to smooth the work and fine grit to finish off.
•Itisrecommendedtomakeatrialrunonascrappiece
of material to determine the optimum grades of sanding
sheet for a particular job.
•Iftherearestillmarksonyourworkaftersanding,
either try going back to a coarser grade and sanding the
marks out before recommencing with the original choice
of grit, or try using a new piece of sanding sheet to
eliminate the unwanted marks before going on to a finer
grit and finishing the job.
NOTE: Do not use the same sanding sheet for wood and
metal. Metal particles will be embedded in the sanding
sheet and will scour a wooden surface.

7. FLUSH SANDING (See Fig. G)
Flush sanding can be performed with the front edge
of this sander. Upon completion of sanding operation,
turn sander off and wait until sanding disc comes to a
complete stop before removing from workpiece.
8. ORBITAL MOTION (See Fig. H)
As shown in Figure H, the orbit diameter of the sander is
1/8-in. in diameter so the sandpaper moves in tiny circles
at very high speed, allowing the sander to move easily.
This orbital action duplicates a “hand sanding” motion
for more aggressive sanding as you push the sander
forward. This powerful orbital action is ideal for heavy-
duty sanding applications, such as:
1. Removing old finishes
2. Smoothing rough wood
3. Sanding stock down to required dimensions
4. Finishing surfaces that are to be painted.
9. CHANGING THE OUTER/INNER PAD
NOTE: Before changing the pad, take off the sanding
paper.
Take off the Outer Pad by removing the four screws (See
Fig. I1). Align the new pad according to the screw holes
and attach the pad using the provided screws.
Follow the same steps as above to change the Inner
Pad. Please hold the inner pad firmly while removing or
attaching the screws. (See Fig. I2)
WORKING HINTS FOR YOUR SANDER
If your power tool becomes too hot, especially when used
at low speed, set the speed to maximum and run it with
no load for 2-3 minutes to cool the motor. Avoid prolonged
usage at very low speeds. Always use sand paper that is
suitable for the material you want to sand.
Always ensure the work-piece is firmly held or clamped to
prevent movement.
Any movement of the material may affect the quality of the
sanding finish.
Start your sander before sanding and turn it off only after
you stop sanding. For the best results, sand wood in the
direction of the grain.
Do not start sanding without having the sandpaper fitted.
Do not allow the sandpaper to wear away, it will damage the
base-plate. The guarantee does not cover base-plate wear
and tear.
Use coarse grit paper to sand rough surfaces, medium grit
for smooth surfaces and fine grit for the final surfaces. If
necessary, first make a test run on scrap material.
Use sandpaper designed for the vibrafree
®
sander
specifically.
The sandpaper controls the sanding efficiency, not the
amount of force you apply to the tool. Excessive force will
reduce the sanding efficiency and cause motor overload.
Replacing the sandpaper regularly will maintain optimum
sanding efficiency.
MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE
Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out
any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.
Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer
performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and
changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and if
damaged, have repaired by authorized service facility. Your
power tool requires no additional lubrication or maintenance.
There are no user serviceable parts in your power tool.
Never use water or chemical cleaners to clean your power
tool. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Always store your power
tool in a dry place. Keep the motor ventilation slots clean.
Keep all working controls free of dust.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons
in order to avoid a hazard.
TROUBLESHOOTING
1. If your sander will not operate, check the power at the
electrical plug.
2. If the sander does not abrade surface, check the
sanding paper. If the sanding paper has been worn,
replace the new paper and try again. The paper must be
kept in a dry place, if it is allowed to become damp, the
abrasive particles will lose their adhesion to the backing
paper and will not abrade.
3. If the sander does not move smoothly, the sanding paper
may be loose, damaged or wrinkled. Replace and try
again.
4. If a fault can not be rectified return the sander to an
authorized dealer for repair.

CABLES DE EXTENSIÓN. Utilice cables de extensión

3. SEGURIDAD PERSONAL
a) Manténgase alerta, fíjese en lo que está
haciendo y use el sentido común cuando
utilice una herramienta eléctrica. No use
la herramienta cuando esté cansado o se
encuentre bajo la influencia de drogas,
alcohol o medicamentos. Un momento de
distracción al utilizar herramientas eléctricas puede
dar lugar a lesiones personales graves.
b) Utilice equipo de seguridad. Use siempre
protección ocular. La utilización del equipo de
seguridad como mascara antipolvo, zapatos de
seguridad antideslizantaes, casco o protección
auditiva para condiciones adecuadas reducirá el
riego de lesiones personales.
c) Evite el arranque accidental. Asegúrese de
que el interruptor esté en la posición de
trabado o de apagado antes de instalar el
paquete de baterías. Transportar herramientas
con el dedo en el interruptor o instalar el paquete de
batería cuando el interruptor está encendido invitan
a los accidentes.
d) Retire las llaves o claves de ajuste antes de
encender la herramienta. Una llave o clave
de ajuste dejada en una parte giratoria de la
herramienta puede causar una lesión personal.
e) No intente alcanzar demasiado lejos.

adecuados en todo momento. El apoyo de
los pies y el equilibrio adecuados permiten un
mejor control de la herramienta en situaciones
inesperadas.
f) Vístase apropiadamente. No se ponga ropa
holgada ni joyas. Mantenga su cabello, ropa
y guantes alejados de las piezas móviles.
La ropa holgada, las joyas o el pelo largo pueden
quedar atrapados en las piezas móviles.
g) Si se proporcionan dispositivos para la
extracción y recolección de polvo, asegúrese
que estos estén conectados y utilizados
correctamente. El uso de estos dispositivos puede
reducir peligros relacionados con el polvo.
4. USO Y CUIDADO DE LA HERRAMIENTA
a) No fuerce la herramienta. Emplee la
herramienta correcta para la aplicación que
desea. La herramienta correcta hará el trabajo
mejor y con más seguridad a la capacidad nominal
para la que está diseñada.
b) No utilice la herramienta si el interruptor no
la enciende o apaga. Toda herramienta que no
se pueda controlar con el interruptor es peligrosa y
debe ser reparada.
c) Desconecte la batería de la herramienta o
ponga el interruptor en la posición de trabado
o de apagado antes de hacer cualquier
ajuste, cambio de accesorios o guardar
la herramienta. Estas medidas de seguridad
preventivas reducen el riesgo de encender la
herramienta accidentalmente.
d) Guarde las herramientas que no esté usando
fuera del alcance de los niños y otras
personas no capacitadas. Las herramientas
son peligrosas en las manos de los usuarios no
capacitados.
e) Mantenga las herramientas con cuidado.
Compruebe la desalineación o el atasco de
las piezas móviles, la ruptura de piezas y
cualquier otra situación que pueda afectar
el funcionamiento de las herramientas. Si la
herramienta está dañada, hágala arreglar
antes de usarla. Muchos accidentes son causados
por herramientas mantenidas deficientemente.
f) Conserve las herramientas de corte afiladas
y limpias. Las herramientas mantenidas
adecuadamente, con bordes de corte afilados,
tienen menos probabilidades de atascarse y son
más fáciles de controlar.
g) Utilice la herramienta eléctrica, accesorios,
brocas de la herramienta, etc. de acuerdo con
estas instrucciones y de la manera adecuada
para el tipo de herramienta eléctrica, teniendo
en cuenta las condiciones de trabajo y el
trabajo que se realizará. La utilización de la
herramienta eléctrica para operaciones diferentes
de aquellas para las que se encuentra diseñada
podría dar lugar a una situación peligrosa.
h) Fijar la pieza sobre la mesa estable con clip o
medios alternativos.
i) Fijar la pieza de mano o la apoyar contra el
cuerpo llevará a cabo la operación inestable,
podrá estar fuera de control.
5. REPARACIÓN
a) La herramienta debe ser reparada por una
persona calificada de servicio técnico y se
deben utilizar partes de reemplazo idénticas.
Esto asegurará el mantenimiento de la seguridad de
la herramienta eléctrica.
¡ADVERTENCIA! El polvo creado al lijar,
serruchar, pulir, taladrar o realizar otras
actividades de la construcción, contiene
substancias químicas que se sabe producen cáncer,
defectos de nacimiento u otros daños al sistema
reproductor. Algunos ejemplos de esos productos
químicos son:
• Elplomodelaspinturasabasedeplomo.
• Lasílicecristalinadelosladrillos,delcementoyde
otros productos de albañilería.
• Elarsénicoyelcromodelamaderatratada
químicamente.
El riesgo que se corre a causa del contacto con esos
productos varía según la frecuencia con que usted realice
este tipo de trabajos. Con el fin de reducir su exposición
a esas substancias químicas:trabaje en un área bien
ventilada;utiliceunequipodeseguridadadecuado,tal
como una máscara contra el polvo especialmente diseñada
para filtrar partículas microscópicas.

NORMAS DE SEGURIDAD
ADICIONALES - PARA LIJADORA
DE CORREA
1. Durante la operación de lijado podrían liberarse
polvos tóxicos / perjudiciales procedentes de
superficies pintadas, maderas y metales. El
contacto o inhalación de dichos polvos podría poner
en peligro la salud del operador y las personas que
lo rodean. Utilice protección ocular y una mascarilla
contra el polvo en todo momento.
2. Utilice siempre protección auricular si piensa utilizar
la herramienta durante un periodo prolongado de
tiempo.
3. Utilice siempre gafas de seguridad o
protección ocular durante el uso de la sierra
de vaivén. Las gafas cotidianas cuentan
únicamente con lentes resistentes a impactos;
NO son gafas de seguridad. Respetando esta
norma conseguirá reducir el riesgo de lesiones
personales graves.
4. Desconecte el enchufe del tomacorriente antes de
hacer cualquier ajuste, service o mantenimiento.
5. Desenrolle completamente los prolongadores para
evitar un eventual recalentamiento.
6. Cuando se requiera de un prolongador, debe
asegurarse de que tenga el amperaje correcto para
su herramienta eléctrica y que esté en perfectas
condiciones de seguridad eléctrica.
7. Cerciórese de que el voltaje de la fuente de
alimentación sea el mismo que el voltaje de la
herramienta.
8. Su herramienta presenta doble aislamiento para
protección adicional contra una posible falla del
aislamiento eléctrico en el interior de la herramienta.
9. Verifique siempre las paredes y los techos para
evitar caños y cables eléctricos ocultos.
10. Luego de largos períodos de trabajo, los
accesorios y las piezas metálicas externas pueden
recalentarse.
11. De ser posible, cuide de que la pieza de trabajo
quede firmemente afianzada para impedir el
movimiento.

la sujete con abrazaderas.
13. Antes del lijado, verifique que la superficie esté libre
de clavos, tornillos, etc.
14. Nunca detenga la lijadora de correa fuerza sobre la
placa base.
15. Utilice únicamente papel en buenas condiciones. No
utilice papel usado o rasgado.
16. No lije material que contenga asbestos, debido a
riesgos para su salud.
17. No lije pintura a base de plomo, debido a riesgo de
envenenamiento por plomo.
18. No coma ni beba en el área de trabajo de la lijadora.
19. No permita que ingrese gente en el área de trabajo
sin usar máscara para polvo.
20. En lo posible, aísle el área de trabajo a fin de
contener el polvo para posterior remoción.
21. Su herramienta está diseñada para lijar en seco
solamente, no materiales húmedos.
22. Su herramienta está diseñada para pulido ligero de
madera y metales para propósito general.
23. No lije material que contenga magnesio debido a

INSTRUCCIONES DE
FUNCIONAMIENTO
NOTA: Antes de usar la herramienta, lea
atentamente el manual de instrucciones.
1. CAMBIO DEL GANCHO Y BUCLE DEL PAPEL DE
LIJA (Ver Fig. A)
El papel de lija se instala fácilmente en el panel de su
lijadora. Instale el papel interno sobre la placa de forma
que cubra todo el área. Presione y gire ligeramente para
asegurarse de que el papel de lija se ha asentado sobre
la placa de forma uniforme. Realice esta operación para
instalar el papel de lija externo. Asegúrese de que el
papel de lija se encuentra instalado de forma uniforme
en relación con los ejes, y que el papel de lija esté tenso
sobre el panel.
Para retirar el papel de lija, levante una esquina del
mismo y hálelo retirándolo del disco de lijado.
2. CAJA CYCLONE (Ver Fig.B, C)
A) INSERTE LA CAJA CYCLONE (Ver Fig.B)
Su lijadora está equipada con la nueva caja Cyclone.
Para instalarla, inserte la caja Cyclone en la parte
trasera de la lijadora hasta que quede fija.
PRECAUCIÓN:
Para evitar la posibilidad de lanzar polvo o
materiales extraños provenientes del lijado a su cara o a
sus ojos, nunca intente usar su lijadora sin la bolsa para
el polvo s adecuadamente instalada.
B)
VACIAR LA CAJA CYCLONE (Ver Fig. C)
Para un uso más eficaz, vacíe la caja Cyclone cada
5 - 10 minutos. Ello permitirá que el aire fluya mejor a
través de la bolsa.
Para vaciar el saco de polvo, extráigalo del puerto de
extracción de polvo, presione el botón situado en la
parte trasera de la caja para abrirla y sacuda el polvo.

3. ADAPTADOR DE EXTRACCIÓN DE POLVOS (Ver
Fig. D)
Su lijadora está equipada con un adaptador de
extracción de polvos, el cual está diseñado para la labor
de recolección de polvos. Para instalarlo, deslice el
adaptador sobre la pieza de salida, haciendo encajar las
palancas del seguro. Luego conecte la manguera de una
aspiradora.Encienda primero la aspiradora y luego la
lijadora. Al detener el lijado, apague primero la lijadora y
luego la aspiradora.
4. LLAVE DE ENCENDIDO/APAGADO (Ver Fig. E)
Para encender su lijadora, presione la cubierta
protectora del interruptor a la posición marcada como
“I”. Para apagar su lijadora, presione la cubierta
protectora a la posición marcada como “0”.
5. UTILIZACIÓN DE LA LIJADORA (Ver Fig. F)
NOTA:
La observación de chispas que destellan bajo las
ranuras de ventilación, indica operación normal que no
dañará su herramienta.
Asegúrese de sostener firmemente la lijadora cuando
se encuentra encendida. Colóquela nuevamente sobre
la pieza de trabajo. Puede que la lijadora “salte” en
el primer contacto. Sostenga la lijadora de manera
que se encuentre plana durante su funcionamiento y
muévala suavemente, preferiblemente de manera suave
y circular.
Encienda la lijadora con la base lejos de la pieza de
trabajo. Permita que el motor alcance su velocidad
máxima y luego utilice la lijadora. Retire la lijadora de la
pieza de trabajo antes de apagarla.
6. SELECCIÓN DEL GROSOR DE LA HOJA DE LIJA
Puede adquirir hojas de lija de diferentes grosores en
su ferretería local o en www.rockwelltools.com. Los
grosores disponibles abarcan de grueso a fino.
• Utilice una hoja de lija gruesa para lijar acabados
ásperos, una hoja de lija de grosor medio para alisar el
trabajo y una hoja de lija para realizar el acabado del
trabajo.
• Se recomienda realizar una prueba sobre un recorte
de la pieza del material con el fin de determinar el grosor
óptimo de la hoja de lija para un trabajo en particular.
• Si quedaron marcas sobre el trabajo luego del proceso
de lijado, utilice una hoja de lija más gruesa y lije para
eliminar las marcas antes de volver a utilizar la hoja de
lija original. Como alternativa, puede utilizar una nueva
hoja de lija para eliminar las marcas no deseadas antes
de utilizar una hoja de lija más fina para realizar el
acabado del trabajo.
NOTA:
No utilice la misma hoja de lija para madera y
metal. Puede que las partículas se incrusten en la hoja
de lija y raspen la superficie de madera.
7. DISPOSITIVO PARA LIJADO AL RAS (Ver Fig. G)
La limpieza de los residuos de lijado puede realizarse
por la parte delantera de la lijadora. Después de finalizar
la operación de lijado, apague la lijadora y espere a que
el disco de lijado se detenga completamente antes de
retirar la pieza de trabajo.
8. LIJADO ORBITAL (Ver Fig. H)
Como muestra la Figura H, la órbita de la lijadora es de
1/8 pulgadas de diámetro, por lo que el papel de lija se
mueve describiendo pequeños círculos a gran velocidad,
permitiendo a la lijadora moverse con más facilidad.
Esta acción orbital duplica el movimiento de “lijado
a mano”, produciendo como resultado un lijado más
agresivo al presionar la lijadora hacia delante. Esta
potente acción orbital es ideal para aplicaciones de
lijado de alto rendimiento, como:
1. Eliminación de acabados antiguos
2. Suavizado de maderas ásperas
3. Lijado de piezas para adaptarlas a las dimensiones
necesarias
4. Acabado de superficies a pintar.
9. REEMPLAZO DE LA ALMOHADILLA EXTERIOR/
INTERIOR
NOTA:
Antes de reemplazar la almohadilla, extraiga en
primera lugar el papel de lijado.
Extraiga la almohadilla exterior quitando los cuatro
tornillos (Ver Fig I1). Alinee la almohadilla nueva con los
orificios de los tornillos y coloque la almohadilla con los
tornillos suministrados. Siga los mismos pasos descritos
anteriormente para el reemplazo de la almohadilla
interior. Sostenga la almohadilla interior firmemente al
extraer o colocar los tornillos. (Ver Fig I2)
CONSEJOS DE TRABAJO PARA
SU LIJADORA DE CORREA
Si su herramienta eléctrica se recalienta demasiado,
hágala funcionar sin carga durante 2-3 minutos para
enfriar el motor. Asegúrese siempre de que la pieza de
trabajo esté firmemente sujeta -con o sin abrazaderas-
para evitar el movimiento. Cualquier movimiento del
material puede afectar la calidad de acabado. Encienda
su lijadora antes de lijar y apáguela recién después de

haber terminado. Para mejores resultados, lije la madera
en dirección del grano del papel.
No comience a lijar si no tiene instalado el papel.
No permita que el papel se desgaste, ya que dañará la
placa base. La garantía no cubre el deterioro de la placa
base. Utilice papel de grano grueso para lijar superficies
groseras, de grano medio para superficies lisas y de
grano fino para acabados. De ser necesario, primero
haga una prueba sobre material de desecho. Utilice
únicamente papel de lija de buena calidad. La eficiencia
de lijado es controlada por el papel de lija, no por la
fuerza que Ud. aplique a la herramienta. La fuerza
excesiva reducirá la eficiencia de lijado y causará la
sobrecarga del motor. El reemplazo periódico del papel
de lija mantendrá una óptima eficiencia de lijado.
MANTENGA LAS HERRAMIENTAS
CON CUIDADO
Extraiga el enchufe de la toma eléctrica antes de
llevar a cabo cualquier reparación o ajuste.
Conserve las herramientas afiladas y limpias para
que funcionen mejor y con más seguridad. Siga las
instrucciones para lubricar y cambiar los accesorios.
Inspeccione periódicamente los cables de las
herramientas y si están dañados hágalos reparar por
un centro de servicio autorizado. Su herramienta no
requiere lubricación ni mantenimiento adicional. No
posee piezas en su interior que puedan ser reparadas
por el usuario. Nunca emplee agua o productos químicos
para limpiar su herramienta. Use simplemente un paño
seco. Guarde siempre su herramienta en un lugar seco.
Mantenga limpias las ranuras de ventilación del motor.
Si el cable de alimentación se encuentra dañado deberá
ser reemplazado por el fabricante, su agente de servicio
o algún otro profesional igualmente cualificado para
llevar a cabo dichas operaciones, con el fin de evitar
riesgos.
SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS
1. Si no funciona la lijadora, compruebe el suministro
de energía del enchufe.
2. Si la lijadora no lija la superficie, compruebe
la hoja de lija. Si la hoja de lija se encuentra
desgastada, reemplácela por una hoja nueva e
intente nuevamente. Las hojas de lija deben ser
almacenadas en un lugar seco. Si las hojas de lija
se humedecen, las partículas abrasivas perderán su
adherencia a la almohadilla y no se podrá realizar el
lijado.
3. Si la lijadora no se mueve fácilmente, puede que la
hoja de lija se encuentre suelta, dañada o doblada.
Reemplácela e intente nuevamente.
4. Si no se puede solucionar una falla, lleve la lijadora a
un distribuidor autorizado para su reparación.
