PHOS
INTRODUCTION
Phos is a powerful and compact diving torch, with a
20 W Xenon bulb that provides a full 500 lumen of
light output.
The careful choice of materials makes this a rugged,
hard-wearing lamp that can withstand depths up to
100 meters. The computer-designed reflector
provides a tight beam, ideal for night dives or low
visibility conditions.
The electronic control of the voltage supply to the
bulb maintains a consistently white light for the entire
rated burn-time, as well as prolonging bulb life. The
power selector allows the diver to choose between
two different brightness levels, according to need.
The nickel metal hydride battery, with no memory
effect, can be recharged even when it is not fully
discharged. A simple safety catch prevents
accidental switch-on of the torch. An anatomical
handle and perfect balancing make the Phos
extremely easy to handle underwater.

USER INSTRUCTIONS
SWITCH-ON AND SWITCH-OFF
Phos is equipped with a mechanical button that
operates an internal microswitch and electronic
control logic. When the dive lamp is off, pressing the
button activates an electronic circuit which turns on
the lamp at maximum power; pressing the button a
second time switches the lamp to the lower power
level. Pressing the button another time puts the
constant-brightness regulator in the stand-by
condition, switching off the dive lamp.
If during operation the internal temperature
becomes too high, a temperature control circuit is
triggered that switches off the lamp.
Another electronic circuit protects the battery pack
against excessive discharging. By monitoring the
voltage level, the lamp is switched off when the
battery power falls below the minimum threshold.
To guard against accidental switch-on, Phos is
equipped with a simple and effective mechanical
safety catch which prevents the button from
operating the internal microswitch (Fig. 1).
!
WARNING
The burn-time specified in the technical
characteristics is influenced by a number of
factors:
- operating temperature;
- temperature at which the lamp has been
stored when not in use;
- charging and discharging cycles of the
battery.
!
WARNING
Before using the diving light, carefully
read the instructions below.

FIG. 1
RECHARGING
The battery does not need to be removed for
recharging: simply unscrew the front part from the
outer lamp body. This prevents any gases produced
by the batteries during charging from being trapped
inside the lamp.
Removing the front part of the lamp uncovers the
charging socket and the reflector-holder, which has
a two-fold function:
together with the special lamp-holder socket, it
disperses the heat of the bulb;
during the recharging cycle, it protects the bulb
from knocks and accidental contact.
To start the charging cycle, insert the battery
charger pin into the lamp socket and plug the
charger into the electrical wall outlet (Fig. 2).
FIG. 2
The Phos has two indicator lights which signal:
presence of mains voltage when the battery
charger is connected (green LED illuminated);
charging cycle complete. The yellow LED
illuminates during charging, and switches off
when charging is complete.
Complete charging takes approximately 5 hours.
The battery pack should not be left under charge once the
indicator illuminates to signal that charging is complete.
When the charging cycle is complete, unplug the
battery charger from the wall outlet, then
disconnect the charger pin from the lamp socket and
reassemble the outer lamp body.
The use of NiMH batteries considerably reduces
problems with the "memory effect", as compared
with Nickel Cadmium batteries. Nevertheless, after
approximately 15 partial charging cycles, it is
recommended to completely discharge the battery
pack before charging. The fully discharged condition
is signaled by the triggering of the circuit that
protects against excessive depletion of the battery
charge, which switches off the lamp.
!
WARNING
When recharging a fully discharged
battery, it may take a few minutes before
fast charging mode begins (yellow LED
illuminates).
!
WARNING
During battery charging it is not possible
to switch on the lamp.
!
WARNING
Use the battery charger provided. Use of a
different charger may damage the battery
pack and the electronic circuits.
!
WARNING
Perform a full battery recharging cycle before
using the diving lamp for the first time.
!
WARNING
After use, be sure to engage the safety catch
to guard against accidental switch-on.
!
WARNING
Do not switch on the lamp outside the
water, especially if using a 35Watt bulb.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Rinse the diving lamp in fresh water before putting
it away.
Check that the O-Ring seats and the threads are free
of impurities (sand, salt etc.).
Apply a film of silicone grease on the seals.
REPLACING THE BULB
Open the front part of the lamp body, then remove
the reflector holder. This exposes the lamp holder
which is fixed to the battery by a set of springs.
Replace the bulb and the reflector holder. If
necessary, adjust the focus by moving the lamp-
holder closer to or further from the battery by
adjusting the spring fixing system (Fig. 3).
FIG. 3
REPLACING THE BATTERY
To replace the battery it is necessary to unscrew the
body from the base and pull out the tube. This
exposes the battery and the reflector holder. The
battery is connected to the electronic control circuit,
incorporated into the base, through three
connectors. Simply pull it out from the bottom to
remove (Fig. 4).
FIG. 4
Remove the reflector holder and the bulb, which
must be affixed to the new battery.
To reassemble, replace the temperature control
circuit inside the new battery pack, then fit the
centering pin and plug in the connectors.
The pin also serves to prevent incorrect insertion.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
WARRANTY
The rechargeable batteries are guaranteed against
defects in materials and workmanship for a period of
6 months from the date of purchase
6 months from the date of purchase.
!
WARNING
Remove the battery pack with great care.
The battery pack contains the temperature
control circuit, connected by means of a
cable to the main circuit fixed to the base.
Therefore, if the battery pack is removed
forcefully, the connection between the
two electronic circuits may be damaged.
!
WARNING
Do not touch the halogen bulb with the
fingers, but use a clean cloth.
!
WARNING
Apply a few drops of lubricating oil
externally, to the seat of the mechanical
button.
