2. MACHINE FEATURES AND TECHNICAL DATA
2.1. IDENTIFICATION
The machine is identified by an adhesive plate attached to the protective casing of the steering column,
which contains indelible data regarding CEmarking.
The plate must never be removed and should always be kept legible. In case of damage,
a duplicate should be ordered. The machine cannot be sold without the plate.
2.2. DESCRIPTION AND COMPONENTS
The BIG 38/48 scrubber-dryer is designed to clean all flat surfaces by washing and then suctioning the waste
water. The scrubber-dryer has a drive system consisting of two gear motors installed on the rear wheels,
powered by a 36V x 450 A/h box battery. The brush system is driven by three 750W gear motors fitted
directly on the brushes and powered in turn by electric accumulators, as are the suction motors.
The machine uses three rotating brushes to clean the floor surfaces, assisted by the action of the water and
detergent. As the machine travels forward, the rear brush (squeegee), in contact with the floor, collects the
water, which is immediately conveyed by suction to the recovery tank.
The dashboard regulates all the machine functions and provides the operator with an LED system that
indicates the remaining battery capacity and any errors detected by the electronic board, which are displayed
as rapid flashes. All the main functions of the machine can be activated through the dashboard. In detail,
these include:
raising, lowering and switching on the brushes;
regulating the water delivery flow;
starting the suction motors;
lowering/raising the squeegee;
turning the lights on and off;
turning on the flashing beacon and the buzzer;
starting and stopping the machine.
The load-bearing structure of the machine consists of a cold-galvanised or stainless steel chassis, which
prevents oxidation problems that could affect its reliability.
The machine comprises the following main components:
a cold galvanized or stainless steel chassis;

3.1. INTENDED USE
The BIG 38/48 is a floor scrubber-dryer machine designed and built for use in
industrial environments for washing and drying, with waste water removal, of flat
horizontal surfaces or sloping surfaces with gradients not exceeding 12%.
3.2. IMPROPER USE
machine operation by unauthorised personnel;
washing uneven and/or bumpy surfaces;
washing of sloping surfaces;
washing of surfaces with a gradient exceeding 12%;
performing U-turns on a slope exceeding 5% and with a speed of over 1 km/h;
using the machine in environments containing dangerous substances, and
particularly in explosive atmospheres or unsuitable microclimatic conditions;
cleaning machine surfaces in the presence of flammable substances;
use of the machine as a means of transport for people or other vehicles;
modifying or tampering with the protection devices;
charging the batteries in locations with insufficient ventilation;
failure of operators to comply with current safety regulations/procedures;
fitting equipment/devices likely to interfere with machine operation;
introducing changes or alterations not authorised by FIORENTINI;
using acid solutions likely to damage the machine;
failure to comply with the specifications of the use and maintenance manual.
The information labels placed on the machine should be read carefully and should not be
covered for any reason. FIORENTINI shall assume no liability in any case of improper use
of the machine as described above.
3.3. RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT
To make the best use of your machine, equipment specially designed and tested by Fiorentini and original

3.6. RESIDUAL RISKS
Starting from the design phase, FIORENTINI has analysed all the possible hazards related to use of the
machine in order to eliminate or at least minimise any risk of injury to machine operators. Warning signs and
indications regarding the accident-prevention systems and procedures to be used have been provided for
machine operators in order to minimise residual risks.
RISK OF CRUSHING
Risk of crushing is present:
when replacing the front brushes;
when checking the brushes in the suction motor;
when adjusting the squeegee;
When replacing the brushes and adjusting the squeegee, the operator must ensure that the ignition
key is not inserted in the dashboard in order to prevent accidental starting of the machine.
This hazard is indicated by pictograms on the brush guards and recovery tank.
RISK OF OVERTURNING
Risk of overturning is present:
during normal use of the machine when the slope limits specified under improper use of the
machine are exceeded and when the machine is used to clean surfaces that are uneven or have
holes and depressions (see 3.2).
SAFETY
