OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
GHV40: 9.6V DC 85W, 2-in-1 Vacuum
Thank you for choosing this Goldair 2-in-1 Stick Vacuum. This Goldair appliance has
been designed and manufactured to high standards of engineering, and with proper use
and care, as described in this manual, will provide you with years of useful service.
Please read these instructions carefully.
GENERAL CARE AND SAFETY GUIDE
ALWAYS
Always ensure hands are dry before
handling the plug or the Vacuum .
Use only as described in this manual.
Always be sure to unplug from the
socket when not in use and before
cleaning.
Use only manufacturers recommended
attachments.
Carry out regular checks of the supply
cord to ensure no damage is evident.
NEVER
Leave vacuum cleaner when plugged
in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and
before servicing.
Never use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
Never use this appliance for any
purpose other than its intended use. This
appliance is for household use only.
This appliance is not intended for use
by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they are supervised or
have been given instruction concerning
the use of the vacuum by a person
responsible for their safety.
Close supervision is necessary when
the appliance is near children.
Use you vacuum to pick up anything
that is burning or smoking, such as
cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
Pull or carry by cord, use cord as a
handle, close door on cord, or pull cord
around sharp edges or corners. Do not run
vacuum cleaner over cord. Keep cord
away from heated surfaces.
Unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug,
grasp the plug, not the cord.
Never use harsh, abrasive or caustic
cleaners to clean this appliance.
Never operate the appliance with a
damaged cord or plug, after it
malfunctions, or if it has been damaged in
any manner.
Use without dust bag and/or filter in
place.

Check that your local mains voltage matches the voltage of the mains adaptor
provided with this appliance.
This product includes rechargeable nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries.
Batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. Do not incinerate batteries or
expose to high temperatures, as they may explode.
Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme conditions. If the liquid gets on
the skin, wash immediately with soap and water or neutralise with a mild acid such
as lemon juice or vinegar. If the liquid gets into the eyes, flush them immediately
with clean water for a minimum of ten minutes and seek medical attention.
Batteries should be removed if the appliance is not going to be used for a long
period of time.
DO NOT attempt to change the batteries used in this product yourself. The
batteries should only be replaced by a reputable service technician.

CHARGING THE STICK VAC
1. Ensure that the On/Off switch is in the O” position before charging.
2. Before using the vacuum, charge the unit for 8-10 hours.
3. Plug the charger jack into the charging base.
4. Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet, ensuring the charger station is close to
the outlet.
5. Place the unit onto the charging base. A blue charging light indicates that the
vacuum is properly positioned and that the unit is being charged.
6. Store the vacuum in the charging base when not in use so that it is always charged
and ready to use.
NOTE:
Peak performance may only be realised after the unit has been charged and
discharged two or three times. To maintain peak performance of your vacuum, it is
recommended that the unit be fully discharged then completely recharged at least
once a month. Each recharge will take approximately 12-16 hours’ charging time.
The adaptor may become warm during charging this is normal.
USING THE STICK VAC
NOTE:
The Stick Vac can only be used when the Hand Vac is attached.
The Stick Vac and Hand Vac has one power setting only.
1. Remove the appliance from the charging base.
2. Slide the “On/Off” button to the Iposition.
3. When finished vacuuming, slide the “On/Off” button to the O” position.
ASSEMBLY
NOTE: The dust cup filter must always be used when operating the vacuum.
1. Before assembling this appliance, ensure that all parts are in the box.
2. Attach the handle by inserting into the main vacuum unit and ensure a clicking
sound secures the vacuum into place.
3. Attach the turbo brush head by inserting into the air intake nozzle at the bottom of
the Stick Vac, ensuring that the contact pins are engaged in the connector slots in
the unit. The head is successfully attached when clicked into place.
4. Attach the Hand Vac unit to the Stick Vac by inserting the Hand Vac air intake
nozzle into the opening located in the main body of the Stick Vac and pushing the
handle gently towards the Stick Vac until it clicks into place.
5. To open the dust cup compartment, simultaneously press the dust cup release
buttons on the Hand Vac unit and twist to remove. Ensure the dust cup filter is
inside, then re-attach the dust cup container to the Hand Vac unit.
USING THE HAND VAC
Remove the Hand Vac from the Stick Vac by pressing the release button and gently
pulling the unit away from the Stick Vac by the handle.
EMPTYING THE STICK VAC
For best performance, empty the Stick Vac and clean the dust cup filter after each use.
1. Press down simultaneously on both dust cap release buttons and pull off the dust
cap container.
2. Pull out the dust cup filter.
3. Empty the contents from the dust cup container.
4. Rinse the filter in cold water. Do not machine wash. Wait until completely dry. Air
dry only.
5. Replace the filter carefully into the dust cup compartment. NEVER operate the
appliance without the dust cup filter in place.
6. Reattach the dust cup container into the appliance.
USING THE MOTORISED BRUSH HEAD
NOTE: The motorised brush head is for vacuuming short pile carpets or rugs and
is for use on the Stick Vac unit only.
CAUTION: DO NOT touch the motorised head while it is in motion.
1. Ensure the appliance “On/Off” button is in the O” position.
2. Firmly insert the motorised brush head into the air intake nozzle of the appliance,
ensuring that the contact pins are engaged in the connector slots in the unit.
3. To remove the motorised head, press the release button at the rear of the nozzle
and pull the attachment downwards.
CLEANING THE MOTORISED BRUSH HEAD
NOTE: The motorised brush head should be checked regularly to ensure that
nozzle cushions, wheels and brush rollers are clean and free from damage, to
avoid scratching sensitive surfaces.
1. If the motorised head becomes blocked or jammed, turn the appliance off
immediately.
2. Carefully remove any items, such as threads, that may have become tangled in the
device.
3. If the motorised head needs to be removed for cleaning, open the hatch cover by
turning the locking screw anti-clockwise a with a screwdriver. Gently remove the
cover.
4. Lift out the roller brush and remove dirt or tangled objects.
5. Fit the roller brush back into device, ensuring that it fits within the guides and spins
freely.
6. Replace the hatch cover and lock into place by turning the locking screw anti-
clockwise until tight
If one of the wheels on the motorised head is jammed:
1. Remove the wheel by carefully inserting a flat head screwdriver into the wheel
cavity and applying gentle upwards pressure against the wheel axle.
2. Remove any dirt or tangled objects.
3. Reattach the wheel and axle by placing them back into the cavity and applying
gentle pressure to click back into place.
BATTERY PACK REPLACEMENT AND DISPOSAL
This unit is powered by nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries, which must be
recycled or disposed of in accordance with local law.
DO NOT attempt to replace the batteries used in this product with any other types
of battery.
If the Stick Vac appliance is to be disposed of, the batteries should be removed
first.
DO NOT attempt to replace the batteries used in this product yourself. The
batteries should only be replaced by a reputable service technician.
CAUTION
NEVER use ordinary batteries for replacement, as these may leak and damage
your appliance.
USE ONLY with the battery pack supplied with the unit.
DO NOT attempt to remove the battery pack from the unit to charge it.
NEVER use the unit without the battery compartment cover in place.
NEVER attempt to throw the battery pack or unit into a fire or incinerate it.
DO NOT attempt to remove or damage the battery casing.
Battery must be recycled or disposed of properly at the end of its service life.

Your Goldair product has been inspected and tested and is guaranteed subject to the
following for a period of two years from the date of purchase against defects in
workmanship and materials. During this period, such defects will be rectified by
repair or replacement of the product purchased. Your product contains no user
serviceable components and this warranty becomes invalid if in our opinion the
product has been misused, abused, incorrectly installed, tampered with, connected
to an electrical supply not corresponding with the name plate specification, or
subjected to power surges. The warranty does not include any labour or other
associated expense that may be involved in removal or installation of the product.
Normal wear and tear is expressly excluded.
If your Goldair product fails to operate satisfactorily, please return it to the retailer
from whom it was purchased. To obtain a repair or replacement product under this
warranty, you will need to produce satisfactory evidence of date of purchase. The
completed warranty and purchase receipt must be presented with the product. The
warranty should be filled out at the time of purchase. It is in your interest to make
sure this is done.
If the product is to be replaced (cannot be repaired) then that replacement will be of
the same or similar product or accessory excluding packaging, instruction card etc.
Where a replacement product is supplied, this shall be guaranteed for the balance of
the original warranty period.
Any model that is no longer available will be replaced by a model of a value and with
such features as we consider appropriate in the circumstances. Goldair Ltd is not
responsible for freight forwarding charges, losses or damage in transit.
If service is required after the warranty period has expired, the product should be
returned to a qualified electrical technician. Service outside of the warranty period
will be at your cost.

In accordance with the above act consumers are advised that: The manufacturer
does not undertake that repair facilities and parts are necessarily available for this
product.
If any of the provisions of the foregoing are contrary to any relevant legislation, then
that provision shall be deemed to be excluded from the warranty and the rest of the
provisions will continue to apply.
