TECHNICAL DATA:
HOW TO RECHARGE A BATTERY.
Initially, the charger must not be connected to the mains. Connect the clips to the battery.
-Red clip on the positive (+) terminal.
-Black clip on the negative (-) terminal.
The charger will then operate in test mode, and the battery charge level will be shown:
The battery does not need recharging.
The battery can be recharged.
The battery must be recharged..
BOOST mode must be used.
If the LED is fl ashing, the battery must be immediately recharged.
The battery charge display will vary during charging until the maximum level is reached. When the maximum level is reached, the
indicator will fl ash for a few minutes. This indicates that the charger is performing a fi nal test on the battery. If the result of
this test is inconclusive the indicator will light and the battery is unserviceable. If the result of the test is positive the indicator
will remain on.
No display:
The polarities may be reversed, the battery may be incorrectly connected, or permanently unserviceable.

SELECTING THE CHARGING MODE
To be used for all standard cases.
To be used for small motorbike type batteries,
the current is then limited to 1A. This function is only available on charger BC124.
To be used for AGM batteries and when the temperature is below -5°C
To be used to attempt to repair a heavily discharged battery. To start the BOOST mode, hold down the selector button for 5
seconds. The cold and normal indicators will light simultaneously.
The BOOST mode remains enabled for between 30 minutes and two hours depending on the condition of the battery.
If, after two hours, the error indicator comes on, the battery is then unsalvageable.
This function is only available on chargers BC128 and BC2430.
This function can be used to maintain a permanent power supply to the vehicle. In the event of overload, the fault indicator
will fl ash. A high overload condition will cause the charger to shut off.
This function is available on chargers BC128 and BC2430.
Caution: the arcing and overvoltage protection functions are disabled in this mode.
12V 24V SÉLECTION
The FACOM BC2430 charger can operate at 12 V or 24 V. The selection is made automatic.
Multizone adaptive charging.
Multizone adaptive charging rapid charging without risk for the either battery or the vehicle electronics.
It can recharge batteries to their maximum capacity and correctly charge very fl at batteries.
Each charging zone is optimised to ensure fast, effi cient charging. The charger automatically selects the charging zone to suit the battery.
- Soft charge. This is used for heavily discharged batteries.
- Regeneration. This mode prepares slightly sulphated batteries to receive and store a charge. This is essential for batteries that have not
been used for long periods.
- Bulk charge. Constant current charging, used up to 85% of the battery’s charging capacity.
-
Absorption charging.
Constant voltage charging, used between 85% and 98% of the battery’s rated charging capacity.
-
Après charge.
Charge augmentée à tension constance, cette charge est utilisée au delà de 98% de la capacité nominale de la batterie jusqu’à 100%.
- Test. The test function cheeks whether the battery is able to receive a charge..
- Maintenance. This mode allows the charger to remain permanently connected to a battery. The battery capacity is continually monito
red and regular charging performed to maintain the battery at 100%

- BOOST reactivation. This mode can be used to reactivate a battery that is left unused for a long time.
A maximum of four 30-minute cycles are performed. After each cycle, the tester checks the battery, and switches to charging mode
at the earliest possibility. If after 4 cycles, the battery is unable to be charged, the error indicator will light and the battery
is unserviceable. This function is only available on chargers BC128 and BC2430.
MALFUNCTIONS
The warning LED fl ashes:
- The terminals are not connected to the battery.
- The mains cable is not connected or powered.
- Power supply: overvoltage the battery voltage falls too quickly,
meaning that the charger is not suffi ciently powerful for the battery.
- The battery is permanently unserviceable.
The warning LED remains continuously lit:
Before charging.
- Overvoltage due to 12 V charger on 24 V battery
- Wrongly connected terminals (Positive on negative and vice versa)
During charging.
- The battery cannot be charged within the safety limit. A second charging cycle can be performed, however, or use BOOST mode can be
used (BC128 and BC2430).
If nothing occurs after connecting the charger to the battery: the polarities are reversed or the battery is permanently unserviceable.
