JS46 Self-Propelled Mower

Quick-switch 3-in-1 Convert from mulching to bagging to side-discharge:

Unpack the mower

A Cut all four corners of the box from top to bottom.

B Remove all items from around the mower.

Remove the clear plastic sheet from the top

of the engine.

C Remove the grass catcher from its plastic

shipping bag.

Assemble the handle

A Remove the knob, lock washer, and bolt

from each side of the handle base.

B Loosen, but do not remove, the knobs on

the handle.

C Lift the handle to the operating position,

and tighten the upper knobs.

D Reinsert the lower handle bolts through

the handle base and handle (most users

will prefer the middle position). Install the

lock washers and fully tighten the knobs.

Set up the starter rope handle

A Hold the operator presence control against the

drive handle, and pull the starter rope handle

out of the engine to the rope guide on the

handle. Hook the starter rope into the rope

guide (it might be a tight fit).

Add oil and fuel

A Move the mower outside to a flat, level surface.

B Remove the oil fill cap. Add the entire contents of the supplied

oil container to the engine. Replace the oil fill cap.

IMPORTANT Mower is shipped without oil in engine.

Failure to add oil will result in engine damage.

C Remove the fuel fill cap. Following the three-step instructions

on the FreshStart

card, snap the fuel preserver cartridge

into the bottom of the fuel fill cap.

D Add clean, fresh, UNLEADED fuel* with a minimum of 87

octane; fill the fuel tank only to the bottom of the filler neck.

IMPORTANT Fuel tank holds less than 1/2 gallon.

IMPORTANT DO NOT mix oil with fuel.

IMPORTANT DO NOT use E85 fuel.

E Replace the fuel fill cap, and wipe up any spills.

Start the mower

A Charge the battery prior to use: Connect the battery charger

to the battery connector (the connector coming out of the

battery box), and plug the charger into a 120-volt outlet for

24-48 hours.

B Remove the charger from the battery connector, and connect

the battery connector to the engine harness connector.

C Move the cutting height adjust lever to the desired cutting

height, and set the mower to mulch, discharge or bag.

(See Quick-switch 3-in-1 instructions below.)

D Pivot the drive handle all the way back.

E Move the neutral lock forward to LOCK.

F Hold the operator presence control against the drive handle.

G Turn and hold the ignition key until the mower starts, but never

longer than five seconds. (If the engine does not start within

five seconds, wait twenty seconds and try again.)

H If manually starting, pull the starter rope handle until the

engine starts.

I To engage the drive system, move the neutral lock back to

UNLOCK. Pivot the drive handle forward to engage the drive

or increase speed. Pivot the drive handle back to decrease

speed or stop.

J To stop the engine and blade, release the operator

presence control.

JS46 Overview

DANGER

Fuel stabilizer is a hazardous chemical.

IF SWALLOWED, call a physician immediately.

Fuel stabilizer contains:

2,6-di-tert-butylphenol (128-39-2) and

aliphatic petroleum distillate (64742-47-8).

Failure to read and follow instructions in the

operator's manual could result in death and/or

bodily injury.

Running engines give off carbon monoxide, an

odorless, colorless, poison gas. Breathing carbon

monoxide can cause nausea, fainting, or death.

Operate this product ONLY outdoors.

Keep exhaust gas from entering a confined area through

windows, doors, ventilation intakes or other openings.

DO NOT operate this product inside any building or

enclosure, even if windows and doors are open.

1 For mulching, leave the

side discharge cover and

the installed mulch plug

in place.

2 To convert to bagging:

A Lift the rear door, and remove

the mulch plug.

B Holding the rear door open, attach

the grass catcher to the rear of the

mower.

C Make sure the hooks on both

sides of the catcher frame hook

onto the rear door rod.

D Release the rear door (it will lay on

top of the grass catcher).

3 To convert to side-discharge:

A Make sure the mulch plug is

installed in the rear of the mower.

B Lift the side discharge cover.

C Install the side discharge deflector onto

the mower deck. Make sure the deck

tabs stick up through the locking slots.

D Release the side discharge cover (it

will lay on top of the side discharge

deflector).

Cómo desempacar el cortacéspedes

A Corte las cuatro esquinas de la caja empezando

por arriba.

B Retire todos los artículos que se encuentran

alrededor del cortacéspedes. Quite la lámina de

plástico de la parte superior del motor.

C Saque el recolector de césped fuera de

su bolsa plástica de envío.

Montaje del asidero

A Quite la perilla, la arandela de seguridad

y el perno de ambos lados de la base

del asidero.

B Afloje pero no quite las perillas del

asidero.

C Alce el asidero hacia su posición de

operación y apriete las perillas superiores.

D Vuelva a insertar los pernos inferiores

del asidero a través de la base del asidero

y el asidero en sí (casi todos los usuarios

prefieren la posición intermedia). Instale

la arandela de seguridad y apriete bien

las perillas.

Instale el mango de la cuerda

del arrancador

A Oprima y mantenga oprimido el control de presencia

del operador contra el asidero de conducción, y hale

hacia afuera el mango de la cuerda del arrancador del

motor hasta la guía de cuerda en el asidero. Enganche

el cuerda del arrancador dentro de la guía de cuerda

(esta guía podría tener un ajuste apretado).

Cómo añadir aceite y combustible

A Ponga el cortacéspedes al aire libre, sobre una superficie

lisa y nivelada.

B Quite la tapa de llenado de aceite. Agregue al motor todo el

contenido del recipiente de aceite suministrado. Coloque

nuevamente la tapa de llenado de aceite.

IMPORTANTE: El cortacéspedes es enviado sin aceite dentro

del motor. No agregar el aceite resultarà en daño del motor.

C Quite el tapón del combustible. Después de seguir los tres pasos

de las instrucciones que se encuentran en la tarjeta FreshStart

acople el cartucho conservador de combustible a la parte inferior

del tapón de combustible.

D Añada gasolina SIN PLOMO * limpia y fresca que tenga un

octanaje mínimo de 87; llene el tanque de combustible sólo hasta la

parte inferior del cuello de llenado.

IMPORTANTE El tanque de combustible tiene una capacidad

de menos de 2 litros.

IMPORTANTE NO mezcle el aceite con el combustible.

IMPORTANTE No utilice gasolina E85.

E Vuelva a poner el tapón del combustible y limpie en caso de

derrames.

Arranque el cortacésped

A Cargue la batería antes del uso: Conecte el cargador de batería con

el conector de la batería (el conector que sale de la caja de batería),

y enchufe el cargador en un tomacorriente de 120 voltios durante

24-48 horas.

B Remueva el cargador fuera del conector de la batería, y conecte el

conector de la batería con el conector de arnés del motor.

C Mueva la palanca de ajuste de la altura de corte hasta la altura de corte

deseada, y ajuste el cortacésped para triturar, descargar o recoger

en saco. (Vea abajo las instrucciones de cambio rápido 3 en 1).

D Gire totalmente hacia atrás el asidero de conducción.

E Mueva hacia adelante la seguro de la posición neutral a la posición

‘LOCK’ (BLOQUEAR).

F Oprima y mantenga oprimido el control de presencia del operador

contra el asidero de conducción.

G Gire y mantenga girada la llave de encendido hasta que el cortacésped

arranque, pero nunca más de cinco segundos. (Si el motor no arranca

dentro de un periodo de 5 segundos, espere 20 segundos e intente

nuevamente).

H Si se realiza el arranque manual, hale el mango de la cuerda del

arrancador hasta que el motor arranque.

I Para engranar el sistema de arrastre de las ruedas, mueva hacia atrás

la seguro de la posición neutral para DESBLOQUEAR (UNLOCK). Gire

hacia adelante el asidero de conducción para engranar el sistema de

arrastre de las ruedas o para aumentar la velocidad. Gire hacia atrás el

asidero de conducción para disminuir la velocidad o para detenerse.

J Para detener el motor y la cuchilla, suelte el control de presencia

del operador.

1 Para el modo de

trituración, deje en su

sitio la cubierta de

descarga lateral y el

elemento de triturado

instalado.

2 Para convertir al modo de

recolección en saco:

A Levante la puerta trasera,

y remueva el elemento de

triturado instalado.

B Sosteniendo abierta la puerta

trasera, sujete el recolector de

césped a la parte trasera del

cortacésped.

C Verifique que los ganchos en cada

lado del marco del recolector

enganchan sobre la barra de la

puerta trasera.

D Suelte la puerta trasera (ésta se

colocará sobre la parte superior

del recolector de césped).

3 Para convertir al modo de

descarga lateral:

A Verifique que el elemento de triturado

está instalado en la parte trasera del

cortacésped.

B Levante la cubierta de descarga lateral.

C Instale el desviador de descarga lateral

sobre la plataforma del cortacésped.

Verifique que las lengüetas de la

cubierta se fija a través de las ranuras

de enganche.

D Suelte la cubierta de descarga lateral

(ésta se colocará sobre la parte superior

del desviador de descarga lateral).
