The History

of the Rock City birdhouse is

linked inexorably with that of the

See Rock City Barn. As America began to embrace the automobile

and took to the roads, so too did Rock City with the message to visit

it’s enchanted gardens. Beginning in the 1930’s, Rock City began a

most unusual advertising campaign that culminated in over 900 barns

across America being painted with the slogan SEE ROCK CITY.

The Rock City Barn was born and soon was a common sight along

the highways and byways of America. The Rock City Birdhouse

became a natural extension of the barns and continued to spread the

message SEE ROCK CITY, only in miniature. The birdhouse kit you hold in your

hands in an authentic piece of this most unusual and truly American institution. Each Rock

City Birdhouse Kit is built with pride right here atop beautiful Lookout Mountain. Our wish is that this

birdhouse give you many years of service and urges you perhaps to come and SEE ROCK CITY.

Directions for assembly

Kit includes:

1 base

2 roof pieces

4 cardboard pieces

6 perches

2 sides

2 end pieces

1 ridge piece

16 short screws

2 screw-eyes

1. Screw the sides to the base and screw one end piece to the base. Sides are

interchangeable as are the ends. Be sure the textured side faces out.

2. Slip the roof pieces down over the

sides one at a time. There are support

pieces already fastened to the inside of

the roof pieces which t inside the side

pieces. With screws, fasten the end

piece to the roof supports.

3. Place the ridge piece at the end of

the roof pieces. The roof pieces will

t into the grooves of the ridge piece.

Slide the ridge piece onto the roof

pieces until ush.

4. You will nd 4 waxed cardboard pieces in this kit. They are cut to size so that you can

assemble interior partitions, making 6 apartments in your birdhouse. At this time, one end

of your birdhouse should still be open. Slide a oor piece into the house, resting it on the

2 roof support pieces. Put the divider and bottom wall together and slide into the house.

Then follow with the other oor piece.

5. Place the end in position and fasten it in place with remaining screws.

6. Place a perch in the small hole beneath each large entrance hole. Your house is now

ready for its occupants.

7. If you wish to hang the house from a tree limb, 2 screw-eyes are provided. After

assembly, install the screw-eyes in the top of the ridge piece, one screw-eye near each end.

Your Rock City Birdhouse can be placed on a post or suspended. Nylon cord makes an

excellent weatherproof cord for hanging the house.
