Installation Overview
The installation chapter provides instructions on installing SANnav Management Portal and SANnav Global View. The following
installations are supported:
• SANnav Management Portal
– Single-node Installation
– Multi-node Installation
• SANnav Global View
– Single-node Installation
SANnav Management Portal and SANnav Global View are two dierent software products. You cannot install both software products on
the same physical host or virtual machine.
NOTE
SANnav application is script based installation. You must run the scripts that are provided in the scripts directory and install the
application.
NOTE
All the scripts for the SANnav application need to be executed in bash shell.
NOTE
If there is a rewall between Client and Server or between Server and SAN, you must open a set of ports for SANnav to
function properly. The list of ports that need to be opened in a rewall are provided in sections Firewall Requirements for
SANnav Management Portal on page 22 and Firewall Requirements for SANnav Global View on page 28.
SANnav Management Portal Deployment
Before you install the application, system requirement checks must be completed to ensure that the VM or host meet all. If any of the
checks fail, do not proceed with the installation.
• Meet all system and server requirements as mentioned in System and Server Requirements for SANnav Management Portal on
page 14.
• Minimum disk space needed is 600 GB; the disk space must be distributed as follows:
– Installation folder: 450 GB
– /var/lib/ folder: 120 GB
– "/" folder: 20 GB
– /etc folder: 250 MB

The disk space can be from a direct-attached disk or through a network-mounted disk.
• Minimum CPU speed: 2000 MHz.
• Minimum number of CPU sockets: 2.
• "umask" for root user set to 0022.
• Host name to IP resolution; ensure that the "hostname -i" command resolves to a valid IPv4 address.
• Port 80 must be available/free.
• Uninstall docker if already installed.
• "nslookup" must be successful for the host name of the physical host and VM.
System and Server Requirements for SANnav Management Portal
It is mandatory to meet all the system and server requirements before you start SANnav Management Portal installation.

You can install SANnav Management Portal 1.1 on a cluster of three physical servers or on a cluster of three virtual machines.

You can assign one node as a master node if it meets the server requirements listed above. The remaining two nodes are
assigned as worker nodes.

Installation Prerequisites for SANnav Management Portal
SANnav Management Portal has additional prerequisites before you start the installation.
• Meet all system and server requirements as mentioned in System and Server Requirements for SANnav Management Portal on
page 14.
• SANnav Management Portal Release 1.1.0 tarball — Download the tarball (a group of installation les collected together as one)
to the folder where you wish to install the application.
• SANnav Management Portal is expected to be installed and run on a dedicated host; if any other application is installed,
uninstall it before starting the SANnav Management Portal installation.
• SANnav Management Portal server IP address.
• Ethernet network interface card (NIC). If multiple NICs are present, you must know on which NIC the SAN management trac
should run.
• Port 22 must be available/free — SANnav Management Portal will run its own internal SSH and it will be used for the internal
rmware repository, without which you cannot use the internal SCP or SFTP server.
• "root user password" — Only "root user" or a user with root privilege can set umask and ulimit system settings.
• Ensure that the entire physical server (boot, log, and data) runs on a single partition.
• Ensure that Red Hat Linux 7.4 OS can be loaded through a bootable disk or through a PIXe server.
• Ensure that the lsof and nslookup packages are installed on the RHEL 7.4 machine.
• Use the latest generation processors for better SANnav performance.
Single-node Deployment
Installing the Application
Ensure that "umask" and "ulimit" are set correctly.
Set the umask as follows:
• Run umask 0022 as a root user
Set the ulimit as follows.
• Edit the /etc/security/limits.conf les with appropriate privileges and add the following limit to the end of the le.
• Add elasticsearch - nofile 65536 at the end of the le.
Complete the following steps to install SANnav Management Portal 1.1 on the server.
NOTE
If the scripts fail during the installation or start-up, it is recommended to uninstall the application and re-install the same.
Do not try to x the issue and re-run the install-single-server.sh.
Download and copy the SANnav Management Portal software package to the desired location on the server. The package contains
SANnav Management Portal 1.1 tarball.
1. Download the SANnav Management Portal 1.1 tarball ( for example, Portal_1.1_rc_bld25-distribution.tar.gz) to the folder
where you wish to install the application.
NOTE
Do not create SANnav Management Portal installation folder with space in name; else installation will fail.

2. Untar the le using "tar -xvf Portal_1.1_rc_bld25-distribution.tar.g" to extract the le to the current location.

3. Go to the <install_home>/bin folder and run the following script to install SANnav Management Portal 1.1.
./install-single-node-server.sh
In this stage, installation script runs pre-install requirements test. If any test fails the installation exits with error messages. You must x the
reported issues, uninstall the application, and repeat from step 1. Once the diagnostics pass, installation of SANnav Management Portal
software will continue. On successful installation of the software, SANnav Management Portal server will start up. The start up may take
up to 20 minutes.
The following customization are supported in the installation phase:
• SCP/SFTP Password — You can change the default SCP/SFTP password. You will be given an option to proceed installation
with default password or choose a new password for the internal SCP/SFTP server.
• Database Password — You can change the default SANnav Management Portal database password. You will be given an option
to proceed installation with default password or choose a new password for the SANnav Management Portal database.
• Setting Server to Switch Communication protocol preference. The following is the list of available protocol options:
– 0 For HTTP (Insecure communication)
– 1 For HTTPS (Secure communication. Requires that you have an IT-provided SSL cert (or self-signed cert) and that your
switches are congured for HTTPS.)
– 2 For HTTPS then HTTP (First HTTPS is tried and if that fails, HTTP is used.)
• Port Customization — You can customize ports when installing SANnav Management Portal 1.1.0. to use a Default port value,
that port value must be unused and available. The followings is the list of default values:
– Client to Server HTTPS Port: Default HTTPS port is 443
– SNMP Trap: Default SNMP trap port is 162
– Syslog Port: Default syslog port is 514
– Secure Syslog Port: Default Secure syslog port is 6514
– Database Port: 5432
• SANnav Internal SSH Port (22) — Indicates that port 22 (SSH) is occupied and the internal rmware repository cannot be used
and you have to use an external FTP or SCP or SFTP server for rmware download functionality.
The following is a sample result of ./install-single-node-server.sh command execution.

Restarting the Server
To stop the currently running SANnav Management Portal server and restart the SANnav Management Portal application, perform the
following:
Go to the <install_HOME>/bin folder and run the following script:
./restart-server.sh
Stopping the Server
To stop the currently running SANnav Management Portal server and re-start the server, perform the following:

Checking the Server Health
Once the installation is complete you can check the health of the SANnav Management Portal server anytime. If any of the services is
down, it will be listed.
To check the health of the server, perform the following:
Go to <install_HOME>/bin/diag folder and run the following script:
./check-server-status.sh
NOTE
If any service is found down while checking server health status, it will be automatically started by system-monitor within 20
minutes.
Following is a sample output of a healthy server.

Disk Usage Alert
SANnav Disk Usage Alert monitors the disk space used for every ten minutes. There are three threshold levels;70%, 80%, and 90%. An
event is sent when the threshold levels exceed or drop below the dened level. The following is the list of event severity:

• Error - 80%
• Critical - 90%
Uninstalling the Application
To uninstall the SANnav Management Portal application and bring back the system to the original state, perform the following:
Go to the <install_HOME>/bin folder and run the following script:

2. Go to master node and untar the le (for example, tar -xvf dcm-utility-scripts-distribution.tar).
3. Go to dcm-utility-scripts and run the script setup-multinode-master.sh.
This script will perform the following functions:
• Check the minimum requirements for master node
• Setup NFS Server
• Install all pre-requisites for master node including docker
4. In worker node 1, untar the script dcm-utility-scripts-distribution.tar.
5. Go to dcm-utility-scripts and run the script setup-multinode-worker.sh.
This script will perform the following functions:
• Check the minimum requirements for worker node
• Setup NFS Client
• Install all pre-requisites for worker node including docker
6. Repeat step 4 and step 5 on worker node 2.
This completes all pre-requisites on master node and worker nodes.
Installing the Application
Perform the following steps to install SANnav Management Portal.
1. In master node, download Portal_1.1_rc_bld25-distribution.tar.gz to NFS location and untar the le.
NOTE
Do not create SANnav Management Portal NFS folder with space in name; else installation will fail.

2. Go to the <install_HOME>/bin folder and run the following script to install SANnav Management Portal 1.1.
./install-multi-node-server.sh
This script performs the following functions:
• Runs system check to ensure that NFS location has minimum space needed (450 GB). If any of the check fails, the
installation will be exited.
• Installs SANnav Management Portal Server.
• StartsSANnav Management Portal after successful installation.
The following customization is supported in the installation phase:
