PAINTING CONDITIONS
Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open
garage. Use when temperature is between 50-90°F (10-
32°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying.
Avoid spraying in very windy and dusty conditions. Cover
surrounding area to protect from spray mist.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all rust, oil and grease from surfaces to be coated.
Surface must be clean and dry. Painted surfaces must be
sanded with medium grit sandpaper prior to painting.
Remove all sanding dust with a clean cloth. Protect and
mask off all surrounding areas to prevent overspray on
auto finish. Apply to bare or primed metal surface.
WARNING: If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you
may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO
LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS
BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN.
PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID
EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to
control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA
vacuum and a wet mop. Before you start, find out how to

APPLICATION
Shake can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball
begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT
STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during
use. Hold can upright 18-24" from surface and spray in a
rapid steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping
each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the
surface and in motion while spraying. Remove any
overspray from the auto finish immediately. For best
results, apply 2-3 coats. Allow coating to dry 20-30
minutes between coats. Do not use near open flame.
DRY & RECOAT
Dry time and recoat times are based on 70°F and 50%
relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures.
The surface can be recoated anytime after 20 minutes.
Allow 48 hours for full cure before placing objects in the
truck bed.
CLEAN-UP
When finished spraying, wipe off tip before storing. Clean
up wet paint with xylene. Mineral spirits can also be used
to remove wet paint. Properly discard empty container. Do
