Dear Customer
Please read this user manual carefully
before using your hair straightener,
paying particular attention to the
safety notes on this and the following
page! Keep the user manual safe for
future reference and also to pass on to
any subsequent owner.

1 Safety notes
This appliance corresponds to accepted
technological standards with regards
to safety and to the German Appliance
Safety Law. As manufacturers, we nev-
ertheless regard it as our duty to famil-
iarise customers with the following
safety considerations.
General safety
This appliance may be connected only
to a power socket carrying a voltage
and frequency matching the informa-
tion on the model rating plate.
Do not pull the cable over sharp edges,
clamp it into place or allow it to hang
down. Keep the cable away from hot
and damp areas.
Never try to remove the plug from the
socket by pulling on the lead.
The connecting cable of this appliance
cannot be replaced. If the cord or the
plug is damaged or defect, the appli-
ance should be discarded.
Before use check that the appliance
functions properly. The appliance
should not be used if:
the connecting cable is damaged
the appliance shows noticeable
damage
the appliance has been dropped
Never wind the mains cable around the
appliance.
The connecting cable must not come
into contact with hot appliance parts
and should never run between the
straightening plates.
Only insert the mains plug when the
appliance is switched off.
The installation of a residual current
circuit breaker (RCD) with a rated trig-
ger current of less than 30 mA in the
domestic power supply provides addi-
tional protection. Seek advice from a
qualified electrician.
Repairs to this appliance may only be
carried out by qualified service engi-
neers. Considerable danger may result
from improper repairs. If repairs
become necessary, please contact the
Customer Care Department or your
authorised dealer.
This appliance is not intended for use
by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction con-
cerning use of the appliance by a per-
son responsible for their safety.
Child safety
Children are not aware of the hazards
of electrical appliances. Therefore close
supervision is necessary when the
appliance is used by children.
Children should be supervised to
ensure that they do not play with the
appliance.
Packaging material, e.g. plastic bags,
should not be accessible to children.
Safety instructions when operat-
ing the appliance
The appliance must not come into con-
tact with flammable materials. It must
also not be used near flammable mate-
rials because the straightening plates
reach temperatures of approx. 200°C.

Warning! Risk of burns from the
straightening plates and hot appli-
ance parts. Never grasp the appliance
by or near the straightening plates
when the appliance is on. The straight-
ening plates and hot steam can cause
burns. Avoid contact with the skin and
eyes. Never transport the appliance
when hot.
Warning! Risk of electric shock. Never
use the appliance with wet hands, in
the bath or shower or over a filled
washbasin. If the appliance falls into
water, remove the mains plug immedi-
ately. Under no circumstances reach
into the water when the appliance is
still connected to the power supply.
Warning! Risk of electric shock. When
the appliance is used in a bathroom,
unplug it after use since the proximity
of water presents a hazard even when
the appliance is switched off.
The appliance must never be switched
on when clamped together. Ensure that
the appliance is open.
Never put the appliance on soft cush-
ions or blankets during operation.
Never cover the straightening plates
with any object.
After use, or if pausing for a significant
length of time, disconnect the appli-
ance from the mains and let the appli-
ance cool down.
Do not place the appliance or the con-
necting cable on hot surfaces e.g.
cooker or similar or in the vicinity of
open flames.
Warning! Risk of burns with hair
spray. Never use flammable substances,
e.g. hair spray, styling mousse etc., on
your hair before using this appliance as
this may cause burning when the sub-
stance comes into contact with the
straightening plates.
The appliance may only be used on dry,
natural hair. Do not use on artificial
hair.
The appliance is not suitable for
straightening animal hair.
Remove the plug from the mains:
if the unit does not function
properly
before cleaning
after every use
Do not pull on the connecting cable
and do not carry the unit by means of
the cable.
People with nervous disorders should
not operate the appliance when alone
in order to avoid any possible danger.
Safety instructions for cleaning
and maintenance
Always disconnect the appliance from
the mains and allow the appliance to
cool down before cleaning and main-
tenance, or if faults occur during oper-
ation.
Warning! Risk of electric shock. Pro-
tect the appliance from moisture.
Never put it into the dishwasher. Never
immerse it in water.
Use in accordance with purpose
The appliance is only intended for
straightening and styling human hair.
The manufacturer can accept no liabil-
ity for any loss or damage arising from
improper use of the appliance.
The appliance is not intended for pro-
fessional purposes.
Disposal

Packaging material
The packaging materials are environ-
mentally friendly and can be recycled.
The plastic components are identified
by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc.
Please dispose of the packaging mate-
rials in the appropriate container at
the community waste disposal
facilities.

The symbol W on the product or on
its packaging indicates that this prod-
uct may not be treated as household

waste. Instead it shall be handed over
to the applicable collection point for
the recycling of electrical and elec-
tronic equipment. By ensuring this
product is disposed of correctly, you
will help prevent potential negative
consequences for the environment and
human health, which could otherwise
be caused by inappropriate waste han-
dling of this product. For more detailed
information about recycling of this
product, please contact your local city
office, your household waste disposal
service or the shop where you pur-
chased the product.
Operating instructions
Preparing the hair
0 Wash your hair and dry it well.
0 Comb your hair thoroughly. Do not use
hairspray or other flammable chemical
hair care products.
0 Place a hand towel around your neck
to prevent the possibility of skin burns.
Switching on the appliance
(Fig. 2)

The appliance must never be switched
on when clamped together.
0 Open the appliance by switching the
locking (Fig. 1/F) to the position .
0 Insert the mains plug and switch on
the appliance using the ON/OFF switch
(Fig. 1/C).
The green ON/OFF control light should
light up (Fig. 1/D).

The appliance takes approx. 4 minutes
to heat up to operating temperature.
Straightening long hair
(Fig. 3, 4)
0 Hold the appliance at the handle
(Fig. 1/B), always at a safe distance
from skin and eyes. Use a mirror.
0 Part your hair into approx. 4 cm
strands.
0 Hold the appliance in the hand as
shown in Fig. 3.
0 Begin at the roots and lay the prepared
strands one at a time between the
straightening plates (Fig. 1/E) (Fig. 3).
0 Close the appliance and draw the hair
straightener slowly from the roots
through to the tips of your hair (Fig. 4).
0 Repeat until your hair is as straight as
you desire.
0 After finishing styling, let your hair
cool down and then comb it through.
Straightening short hair
0 Follow the instructions as for long hair,
but instead of drawing the appliance
through your hair, clamp the strands in
the appliance for approx. 10 seconds.
Switching off the appliance
0 Switch off the appliance using the ON/
OFF switch (Fig. 1/C).
0 After the unit has completely cooled
down, you can close it and clamp it
together by switching the locking (Fig.
1/F) to the position .
Cleaning and care

Danger of electric shock! Switch off
the unit before it is to be cleaned and
pull out the plug.
Danger of burns! It is essential to let
the unit completely cool down.
Never immerse the appliance in water.
Protect your appliance. Do not use
sharp or abrasive cleaning agents.
0 You can clean your appliance with a
slightly damp cloth and dry it with a
soft dry cloth.
0 If the straightening plates get dirty, use
a few drops of washing-up liquid to
help clean them. Make sure that you
remove all washing-up liquid residues
from the straightening plates.
