1. Safety
To prevent personal injury
• Mercury Vapor Warnings: Keep the following warnings in mind when us ing the projector. The lamp used in the projector
contains m ercury. In case of a lamp rupture, explosion there w ill be a mercury vapor emission. In order to m inimize the potential
risk of inhaling mercury vapors:
- Ensure the projector is installed only in ventilated rooms.
- Replace the lamp module before the end of its oper ational life.
- Promptly ventilate the room after a lamp rupture, explosion has occurred, evacuate the room (particularly in case of a pre g-
nant woman).
- Seek medical attention if unusual health conditions oc cur after a lam p rupture, explosion, such as headache, fatigue, short-
ness of breath, chest-tightening coughing or nausea.
• Caution: High pres sure lam p may explode if impro perly handled. R efer servicing to qualified service personn
el. Th e customer
should never attempt to disassemble the lamp casing or to dispose of the lamp c asing other than by returning it to Barco.
• Do not place this projector on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod bracket, or table
recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the projector. A ny mounting of the appliance should follow the manufacturer ’s
instructions and s hould use a mounting accessory recomm ended by the manufacturer.
• An appliance and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick s tops, excessive force an d unev en surfaces may cause
the appliance and cart com bination to overturn.
• Do not place the projector on uneven s urface. Place the projector on a leveled a nd stable surface on ly. Please do not p lace
the projector on unstable s urfaces. The product may fall, causing serious dam age to it and pos sible injury to the user.
• Warning: high intensity light beam. Do not look into the lens when it is operating. It may hurt your ey es. Ne
ver let children look
into the lens when it is on.
• Do not touch the exhaust vents and bottom plate, whic h become hot. Do not touch them or put other equipm ent in front of the
exhaust v ents. The exhaust v ents and bottom plate, when heated, m ay cause injury or damage to other equipment. Also, do
not set the pr ojector o n t he desk which is easily affected by h eat.
• Do not look into the exhaust vents when projector is operating. H eat, dust, etc. may blow out of them and hurt your eyes.
• Do not insert your fingers in the space between the lens and the cabinet. The lens m ay shift c ausing injury or damage to the
projector.
• Exposure to U V radiation: Some medications a re k nown to make individuals e xtra sens itive to U V radiation. T he A mer ican
Conference of Governm ental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) re commends occu
pational UV exposure for an- 8hour day to be
less than 0.1 microwatts p er s quare centimeters of effective U V radiation. A n evaluation of the workplace is advised to assure
employees are not expos ed to c umulative radiation levels exceeding these governm ent guidelines.
• Warning: Protection from u ltraviolet radiation: Do not look directly in the light beam. The lamp contained in this product is
an intense source of light and heat. One com ponent of the light emitted from this lam p is ultraviolet light. P otential eye and skin
hazards are present when the lamp is energized due to ultraviolet radiation. Avoid unnecessary e xposure. P rotect yourself and
your employ ees by ma king them aware of the hazards and how to protect themselves. Protecting the skin can be accomplished
by wearing tightly wov en garm ents and glov es. Protecting the eyes from UV can be accomplished by wearing safety glasses
that are designed to provide UV pr otection. In addition to the UV, the visible light from the lamp is intense and should also be
considered w hen choosing protective eye wear.
To prevent fire hazard
• Do not place flammable or com bustible m aterials near the projector!
• Do not face the projector lens to the sun. It can lead t
o fire.
• Slots and openings in the cabinet are pr ovided for ventilation, ensuring reliable operation of the projector and to protect it from
overheating. D o not block these openings or a llow them to be blocked by placing the projector on a bed, sofa, , carpet, rug, or
bookcase. Ensure that there is adequate ventilation and that the manufacturer ’s instructions have been adher ed to.
• Use correct voltage. If you use incorrect v oltage, it can lead to fi re.
• Do not connect m ultiple electrical appliances to a single wall outlet. It can lead to fire.
• Do not e xtend the power cord. It can lead to fi re.
• Do not use flammable solvents (benzene, thinner, etc.) and flammable aerosols near the projector. Flammable substances
may ignite ca using fire or breakdown because the temp erature inside the projector rises very high while the lamp is illuminating.
• Be sure to unplug the powe r cord from the wall outlet if the projector w ill not be used for a long per iod of time. Otherwise, it
may ca use fire. Important s afeguards (continued)
• Do not use the pr ojector in the following locations and manners, which may cause fire or electric shock .
- In a dusty or humid plac e.
- In a sideways position, or with the lens facing down.
- Near a heater.
- In an oily, s mok y, or dam p place such as a kitchen.
- In direct sunlight.
- Where the temperature rises high, such as in a closed cabinet.
- W here the temperature is lower than +41º F (or +5ºC) or higher than +104ºF (or +40º C).
• Do not cover the lens with the lens c ap while the lamp is on.
