GENERAL
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
VOLTAGE WARNING: Before connecting the machine to a power source (receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure the voltage supplied is the same as
that specified on the nameplate. A power source with voltage greater than specified can result in SERIOUS INJURY to the user - as well as
damage the machine. If in doubt DO NOT PLUG IN THE TOOL. Using a power source with voltage less than the nameplate is harmful to the
m
otor.
1. KNOW YOUR MACHINE
R
ead and understand the owners manual and labels affixed to
the machine. Learn its application and limitations as well as its
specific potential hazards.
2. GROUND THE MACHINE.
T
his machine is equipped with an approved 3-conductor cord
and a 3-prong grounding type plug to fit the proper grounding
type receptacle. The green conductor in the cord is the
grounding wire. NEVER connect the green wire to a live
terminal.
3. KEEP GUARDS IN PLACE.
Keep in good working order, properly adjusted and aligned.
4. REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND WRENCHES.
Form habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches
are removed from the machine before turning it on.
5. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN.
Cluttered areas and benches invite accidents. Make sure the
floor is clean and not slippery due to wax and dust build-up.
6. AVOID DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENT.
Don’t use machinery in damp or wet locations or expose them to
rain. Keep work area well lit and provide adequate surrounding
work space.
7. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY.
All visitors should be kept a safe distance from work area.
8. MAKE WORKSHOP CHILD-PROOF.
Use padlocks, master switches or remove starter keys.
9. USE PROPER SPEED.
A machine will do a better and safer job when operated at the
proper speed.
10. USE RIGHT TOOL.
Don’t force the machine or the attachment to do a job for which
it was not designed.

1. WEAR PROPER
APPAREL.
Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, neckties or jewelry (rings,
watch) because they could get caught in moving parts. Non-slip
f
ootwear is recommended. Wear protective hair covering to
contain long hair. Roll up long sleeves above the elbows.
12. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.
Always wear safety glasses (ANSI Z87.1). Everyday eyeglasses
o
nly have impact resistant lenses, they are

afety glasses.
Also use a face or dust mask if cutting operation is dusty.
13. DON’T OVERREACH.
Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
14. MAINTAIN MACHINE WITH CARE.
Keep machine clean for best and safest performance. Follow
instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
15. DISCONNECT MACHINE.
Before servicing, when changing accessories or attachments.
16. AVOID ACCIDENTAL STARTING.
Make sure the switch is in the ‘’OFF’’ position before plugging in.
17. USE RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES.
Consult the manual for recommended accessories. Follow the
instructions that accompany the accessories. The use of
impro-per accessories may cause hazards.
18. NEVER STAND ON TOOL.
Serious injury could occur if the machine tips over. Do not store
materials such that it is necessary to stand on the machine to
reach them.
19. CHECK DAMAGED PARTS.
Before further use of the machine, a guard or other parts that are
damaged should be carefully checked to ensure that they will
operate properly and perform their intended function. Check for
alignment of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any
other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other
parts that are damaged should be properly repaired or replaced.
20. NEVER LEAVE MACHINE RUNNING UNATTENDED.

’. Don’t leave any machine running until it
comes to a complete stop.
1. DO NOT OPERATE THIS MACHINE UNTIL it is assembled and
installed according to the instructions.
2. CHECK BELTS for wear and tension. If the belt is damaged or can’t
be tensioned properly, replace it.
3. CHECK FOR PROPER BELT INSTALLATION, and make sure that
the belt is tracking properly.
4. KEEP ARMS, HANDS, AND FINGERS away from abrasive
surfaces.
5. NEVER START THE SANDER with the workpiece against the
sanding belt or sanding sleeve.
6. MAINTAIN MINIMUM CLEARANCE between the table and the
sanding surface.
7. USE A BACKSTOP when using the sanding belt in the horizontal
position.
8. FEED THE WORKPIECE AGAINST THE ROTATION OF THE
SANDING BELT OR SANDING SLEEVE. Hold the workpiece
securely on the table.
9. DUST COLLECTION SYSTEM. Never operate this sander without
an adequate dust collection system connected and operating.
10. DISCONNECT POWER. Disconnect the sander power cord from
the power source before changing the sanding belt or sanding
sleeve.

POWER SUPPLY
WARNING:
YOUR EDGE SANDER MUST BE CONNECTED TO A
220V, 15-AMP. MINIMUM BRANCH CIRCUIT. FAILURE TO
CONNECT IN THIS WAY CAN RESULT IN INJURY FROM SHOCK
OR FIRE.
GROUNDING
This Edge Sander must be grounded. If it should malfunction or
breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for
electric current, to reduce the risk of electric shock. This Edge
Sander is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding
conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an
appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING: TO MAINTAIN PROPER GROUNDING OF YOUR
EDGE SANDER, DO NOT REMOVE OR ALTER THE GROUNDING
PRONG IN ANY MANNER.
Not all outlets are properly grounded. If you are not sure if your
outlet is properly grounded, have it checked by a qualified
electrician.
WARNING: IF NOT PROPERLY GROUNDED, THIS EDGE
SANDER CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL SHOCK, PARTICULARLY
WHEN USED IN DAMP LOCATIONS. TO AVOID SHOCK OR

WAY, HAVE IT REPLACED IMMEDIATELY.
220V OPERATION
As received from the factory, your Edge Sander is ready to operate
on a 220V circuit that has an outlet and a plug which looks like the
one illustrated in Fig.1.

ARE NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL CODES AND
ORDINANCES. NEVER USE IN CANADA.
EXTENSION CORDS
The use of any extension cord will cause some loss of power.
Depending on the length of extension cord needed, use the table
(Fig.2) to determine the minimum wire gauge (A.W.G-American
Wire Gauge). Use only 3-wire extension cords which have 3-prong
grounding type plugs and 3-hole receptacles which accept the tool’s
plug.
For circuits that are further away from the electrical circuit box, the
wire thickness must be increased proportionately in order to deliver
ample voltage to the Edge Sander motor. The smaller the gauge of
the extension cord, the thicker it will be in diameter.

NPACKING AND CLEANING YOUR SANDER
W
arning! This sander weighs 595 lbs, use material handling equipment when
moving shipping crate and removing sander from the crate. Carefully unpack the
sander and all loose items inside the cabinet base.
R
emove the protective coating from all unpainted surfaces. This coating may be
removed with a soft cloth moistened with kerosene (do not use acetone, gasoline
o
r lacquer thinner for this purpose). After cleaning, cover the unpainted surfaces
with a good quality household floor paste wax.
INSTALLING THE TABLE HEIGHT HANDWHEEL HANDLE
Locate the table height handwheel handle (A) Fig.3. Using a Phillips screwdriver
secure it to the handwheel (B).
INSTALLING THE RIGHT BELT GUARD DUST PORT
Locate the dust port (A) Fig.4 and position it against the right belt guard (B). Align
the mounting holes and fix it in place with 4 pan head screws and washers using
a Phillips screwdriver.
INSTALLING THE GEAR BOX COVER
Locate the gear box cover (A) Fig.5, this cover will protect the gear box from
damage. Fix the cover to the lower part of the motor bracket (B) using 4 cap
screws and washers (C). Only 2 of the 4 cap screws are shown in Fig.5, the other
cap screws get installed behind the cover
.
INSTALLING THE END TABLE/SPINDLE TABLE
Locate the end table assembly (A) Fig.6, slide the end table shaft (B) into the end
table support bracket (C). Screw a lock lever (D) into the end table support
bracket, then level the top of the end table with the top of the main table and
secure it into place by turning the lock lever clockwise.

INSTALLING THE SANDING SPINDLE ATTACHMENT AND SANDING DRUMS
This Edge Sander comes with 3 spindle sanding drums, 3 sanding sleeves
(
1-1/2”, 2” and 3”) and a spindle attachment for contour and curved sanding
operations.
First, open the left side belt guard (A) Fig.7 and latch it to the belt access panel
(
B). Remove the 3 cap screws (C) and the round plate (D).
Position the spindle attachment (A) Fig.8 on top of the sanding belt drum and
secure it in place with 3 cap screws (B), the same ones as (C) Fig.7. Slide the
sanding drum and sleeve (C) Fig.8 onto the spindle attachment (A) and secure it
into place using the thick washer and Boulon hexagonal (D) supplied.
4 end table inserts are supplied to accomodate the sanding belt drum and the 3
other sanding drum diameters. Remove the table insert (F) Fig.8 by removing the
3 countersunk Phillips head screws (E), raise the end table up to the sanding
drum and install the table insert which matches the diameter of the sanding drum
you just installed.
INSTALLING THE SANDING BELT
Open the belt access panel (A) Fig.9 by removing the 2 top mounted lock knobs.
Lift the belt tension lever (B) as shown in Fig.9.
The sanding belt will run counterclockwise, match the arrows on the right side
belt guard with the arrows inside the sanding belt, place and center the sanding
belt around both sanding belt drums. Tension the sanding belt by lowering the
tension lever. Close the belt access panel and secure it with the 2 lock knobs. It
is now time to make sure the sanding belt is tracking properly, see next section
for instructions.
SANDING BELT TRACKING
When the sanding belt has been installed or replaced, it will be necessary to
adjust the sanding belt tracking if it is not running in the correct position.
Remove the gear box cover
. Loosen hex.nut (A) Fig.10, then turn hex.nut (B)
clockwise, the sanding belt will move downwards. Turning hex. nut (B) counter-
clockwise will move the sanding belt upwards. Once the tracking adjustment is
done, retighten the hex. nut (A) against the shaft.
Turn the sander on and observe the sanding belt tracking, if it is not running
centered on both sanding drums, repeat until it is tracking properly.

ILTING THE OSCILLATING SANDING BELT
The oscillating sanding belt can be tilted between 0
0
and 90
0
. To adjust the
sanding angle, loosen the angle adjustment lock handle (A) Fig.11 and tilt the
sanding belt assembly until the pointer (B) is aligned with the desired angle
shown on the angle scale (C). Once you have obtain the desired angle,
retighten the angle adjustment lock handle.

DJUSTING THE MAIN TABLE VERTICALLY OR HORIZONTALLY
The oscillating sanding belt table can be adjusted vertically or horizontally to
accomodate different workpiece shapes and sizes, adjusting the height of the
table can also help reduce spot wear of the sanding belt.
To adjust the table vertically (up or down), loosen both vertical adjustment lock
handles (A) Fig.12. Then turn the table height handwheel (B) to raise or lower the
table. Turn the handwheel clockwise to raise the table or counterclockwise to
lower the table. Once the desired height is achieved, retighten both vertical
adjustment lock handles.
To adjust the table horizontally (backward or forward), loosen the table lock
levers (C) by turning them completely towards the right (counterclockwise). Push
or pull the table until it is positioned no more than 1/16” away from the sanding
belt. Once the table is in the proper position, secure the table position by moving
the table lock levers completely towards the left (clockwise).
INSTALLING THE FENCE
A removable fence (A) Fig.13 is supplied to help support workpieces. It can be
used when doing horizontal sanding operations with the table positioned at an
angle of 90
0
. With the table in the upright vertical position, the fence can be used
to trap your workpiece to make it a specific thickness and also for chamfering the
end of a workpiece (fence positioned on an angle).
Position the fence on the table and align the slots in the fence with the mounting
threaded holes in the table. Secure the fence to the table using 2 washers and
lock knobs (B).
POSITIONING
AND USING THE MITER GAUGE
The supplied miter gauge comes with a T-slot bar (A) Fig.14 which is designed
to slide into the
T
-slot of the table.
The angle of the miter gauge can be adjusted
by loosening the miter gauge lock handle (B).
This miter gauge comes with an aluminum fence (C) which can be adjusted side
to side or can be completely removed depending on the operation. T
o adjust the
position of the aluminum fence, loosen both lock knobs (D), to remove it, remove
both lock knobs and fence.
It may be necessary to adjust the miter gauge perpendicular to the sanding belt,
to do this, place a square against the sanding belt and the face of the miter
gauge, loosen the miter gauge lock handle and make sure the face of the miter
gauge is flush with the square. Once the adjustment is done, remove the miter
gauge from the table, loosen the angle pointer screw, accessible from
underneath the T-slot bar (A) and adjust the pointer to the 0
0
position, retighten
the angle pointer screw once the adjustment has been done.

SANDING EXTRA LONG WORKPIECES
When sanding extra long workpieces, it is possible to use the entire length of the
sanding belt. This can be achieved by opening the right guard (A) Fig.15 and by
r
emoving the work stop (B). Doing this will expose the entire sanding belt from
one end to the other.
DUST COLLECTION
WARNING! Never operate this sander without an adequate dust collection
system connected and operating.
This Edge Sander comes with 2- 4” dust ports, they are located at both ends of
the sanding belt on the retractable belt guards.
Use 4” diameter hoses and appropriate clamps to connect a dust collection
system to the dust ports.
MAGNETIC SWITCH AND EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON
Starting and Stopping the Edge Sander
The magnetic switch (A) Fig.16 is located on the left side of the sander. To turn
the sander “On” press the green button (B). To stop the sander, push the red stop
button (C).
Emergency Stop Button
There is an emergency stop button (A) Fig.17 located on the top of the sanding
belt access panel. To stop the sander, push down on the emergency stop button.
Twist the emergency button clockwise until it pops up, only then will you be able
to restart the sander, by pressing the green button (B) Fig.16 on the magnetic
switch.

To obtain accurate and precise operations with your Oscillating Edge Sander, it
may be necessary to adjust the sanding belt angle so that it is perfectly
perpendicular to the table and adjusting the angle pointer to indicate precisely
90
0
.
Loosen the sanding belt angle lock handle (A) Fig.18, then place a square (B) on
the table and against the sanding belt as shown in Fig.18. Adjust the sanding belt
until it is flush with the square and retighten the angle lock handle.
Loosen the angle pointer screw and align the angle pointer (C) with the 90
0
mark
on the angle scale and retighten angle pointer screw.

UBRICATION
FILLING THE GEAR BOX WITH OIL
T
he gear box oil should be replaced after approximately 500 hours of operation.
To replace the gear box oil, first remove the gear box cover by removing the 4
cap screws that hold it in place.
Place the sanding belt in the horizontal position, remove the oil drain/breather
cap (A) Fig.19 and drain the oil from the gear box. Reposition the oil
drain/breather cap before pourring oil into the gear box.
Remove the oil fill set screw (B) and fill the gear box with gear box oil (SAE 80W)
until the oil level reaches the red dot (center) of the oil level (C). Once the oil level
has reached appropriate level, reinstall the oil fill set screw. Proceed to the next
section for tightening set screws on spindle connector and eccentric.
LUBRICATING GREASE FITTINGS INSIDE THE SANDING BELT BODY
There are 4 grease fittings (A) Fig.20 (only 2 of them are shown), 2 at each end
of the sanding belt body. These grease fittings should be lubricated with light
machine oil after approximately 50 hours.
TIGHTENING SET SCREWS ON SPINDLE CONNECTOR AND ECCENTRIC
The set screws (A) Fig.21 which secure the spindle connectors (B) and the set
screw (C) which secures the eccentric (D) to the shaft need be tightened every
time the gear box oil is replaced (every 500 hours).
Reinstall the gear box cover.
REMOVING THE DRIVE ROLLER
This Edge Sander includes a drive roller puller assembly to remove the drive
roller should it ever become necessary to remove it.
Remove the hex. nut which secures the drive roller (A) Fig.22 to the drive shaft.
Screw the 2 smaller cap screws (B) into the puller plate (C) and then screw them
into the 2 threaded holes in the drive roller. Screw and tighten larger cap screw
(D) into the center hole of the puller plate and tighten it until the drive roller is
pulled.
To reinstall the drive roller, reposition the drive roller onto the drive shaft, secure
the drive roller in place by tightening the hex. nut removed previously.
Warning! Do not hammer the drive roller onto the drive shaft, you will damage the
drive shaft.
