Application Note

1 Introduction

NRC Network Integration aims at deploying NRC in an existing corporate network infrastructure.

On one hand, the NRC has a dedicated point-to-point network connection to the ClickShare Base

Unit. On the other hand, the second network interface is used to connect to the local network.

The NRC Client and all video sources (encoders, IP based devices, etc. …) are located on this

network. It may also have a wireless extension to support mobile devices.

The sections below contain the necessary guidance to set this up, including some of the inner

details that explain the constraints on the network infrastructure.

2 Dedicated connection to the ClickShare Base Unit

The NRC requires a dedicated connection to the ClickShare CSC Base Unit, using the rightmost

network interface. This network connection has been preconfigured in the IP range 192.168.1.x. It

is mandatory to use this subnet for this connection.

For proper operation, the other network connection of the NRC (video network) should be of a

different address range to avoid conflicts.

3 NRC Video network

The second network interface is the connection to the NRC Video Network. This network can have

any address range except for 192.168.1.x, which is reserved for the ClickShare interface.

Optionally, a wireless extension could be installed to connect the NRC Client and add support for

Airplay clients.

Barco AV-to-IP encoders such as the NGS-D200 and NGS-D220 need to be connected over the

NRC Video network. In addition, other devices (such as IP cameras) can be connected on this

network as well.

The ZeroConf protocol is required for the automatic discovery and configuration of the NRC and

the Barco AV-to-IP encoders; as such they all need to be connected to the same network.

Third-party equipment needs to be configured manually

4 Configuring the system

The built-in configuration wizard of the NRC Client will guide you through the installation process.

It will detect all Barco network devices and configure the NRC to use them.

The detection is based on ZeroConf. For a successful procedure, the device which runs the NRC

Client needs to be connected to the same LAN as the streaming video devices and the NRC.
