Tack för att du köpt DLS ULTIMATE 3-vägs system. Denna bruks-
anvisning hjälper dig vid installation och inkoppling. En riktig in-
stallation är viktig om du vill få ut bästa möjliga ljud ur dina högta-
lare. Denna sats är konstruerad för att återge musiken på ett
naturtroget sätt och är bland det bästa som finns på marknaden.
Men det är ändå oerhört viktigt att följa monteringsråden. En slar-
vig montering gör att även ett bra högtalarsystem kan låta dåligt.
KONTROLL AV HÖGTALARNAS FASNING
Du kan kontrollera högtalarnas fasning (polaritet) med hjälp av
ett vanligt 1,5 volts ficklampsbatteri.
Anslut en kabel från batteriets plus-pol till högtalarens d:o och
en kabel från batteriets minus-pol till högtalarens minus.
Om du kopplat högtalarna rätt skall konen nu röra sig åt
samma håll (normalt utåt) på både höger och vänster kanal
(fungerar ej på midrange och tweeter).
Denna kontroll gör du på kablarna som ansluts till högtalarut-
gångarna på bilstereon eller slutsteget.
Har du ett extra passivt högpassfilter inkopplat till bas-
elementet så kan du inte se något utslag på konen, då måste
du först koppla bort filtret.
MONTERING:
Baselement 5,25" / 6,5":
Montera högtalaren i dörrsidan. Om det finns möjlighet så förstärk
med en baffel av MDF-board eller liknande. En montering högt
upp på dörrsidan ger oftast den bästa ljudåtergivningen. Ett alter-
nativ är montering i så kallad kickpanel vid bilens torpedväggar
med högtalarna riktade snett uppåt / framåt. För bästa resultat bör
elementet monteras i en sluten låda på maximalt 5-6 liter. Alterna-
tivt i en s.k. membranlåda på 2-3 liter. Montering i dörrsida utan
låda minskar effekttåligheten, elementet kan "slå igenom" vid hög
volym, effekttåligheten minskar och även basåtergivningen blir
sämre. I ett system med separat subwoofer och aktiv frekvens-
delning bör systemet frekvensdelas med ett högpassfilter vid
120-150 Hz.
I system med subwoofer med passiv delning använd en bipolär
kondensator på 150 - 200 µF i serie med baselementet.
Det är viktigt att baselementet monteras stadigt och att samtliga
skruvar dras lika mycket så att korgen inte blir skev.
2,5" mellanregisterelement U2,5:
Monteras högt upp i dörrsida eller i instrumentbrädans uttag.
Ingen låda erfordras normalt till dessa. För att få ett fylligare
mellanregister kan U2,5 chamber monteras bak på domen (extra
tillbehör). Vid montering uppe på instrumentbrädan blir oftast ni-
vån på mellanregistret hög, sätt då nivån i filtret på låg nivå (J1).
Tycker du fortfarande att nivån är för hög så montera ett motstånd
på ca 3-5 ohm ( 5 Watts effekt) i serie med kabeln till elementet.
1" tweeter RC1:
Diskanterna monteras så nära bas/mellanregisterelementen som
möjligt, alternativt på instrumentbrädan. Finns färdiga uttag så an-
vänd dessa även om det kan kräva lite jobb för anpassning.
Med bipackade tillbehör kan diskanten monteras utanpåliggande
eller infällt i dörrsida. Om mellanregisterelementen sitter i
instrumentbrädans uttag bör diskanterna monteras på A-stolpa-
rna riktade mot varandra för att få bästa ljudbild.
Nivån till tweetrarna kan justeras i två steg inuti filtret på J2. Se
anvisningen här intill.
Filterboxar och galler:
De medföljande filtren bör monteras fast ordentligt så de inte lig-
ger och skramlar. Inuti filtret finns fyra hål för fastsättning. Locket
tas av genom att klämma ihop locket på sidorna och lyfta uppåt.
Undvik att placera filtren nära bilens egna kabelstammar, detta
kan orsaka störningar. Se till så att högtalarkablarna inte kommer i
kläm någonstans, de kan då kortsluta till jord och orsaka dyra re-
parationer av stereo eller slutsteg.
Bashögtalarens galler fästs i sin plastram med hjälp av medföl-
jande kitt som fördelas jämnt i plastramens spår. Tryck därefter
ner gallret och se till att det sitter så det inte skramlar.
Diskanthögtalarna får aldrig kopplas in utan att filterboxen an-
vänds, de kan då skadas och ljudet blir dessutom dåligt.

OBS, VIKTIGT!
Observera att basen i schemat är fasvänd. Koppla enligt fas-
märkningen på filterboxen. Om du kör systemet ihop med en sub-
bas så prova att fasvända 5,252 / 6,5 " elementen eller subbasen
för att erhålla bästa basåtergivning.
Om du kör systemet utan någon bas ansluten till filtret måste
du klippa av ena ändan av 33

SPEAKER PHASING
To be sure to have the correct speaker polarity (phase) you
can check this by using a 1,5 Volt battery.
Connect a cable from the battery plus-pole to the speaker
plus, and a cable from the battery minus to the speaker minus.
If the speakers are correctly connected the speaker cone
should move in the same direction on both right and left
channel (normally outwards). This is not working on mid and
tweeter elements.
This control must be made on the cables that goes to the
speaker terminals of your car stereo or amplifier. If you have
an extra highpass filter in line with the bass element you can´t
see any cone movement, you must first disconnect the filter.

Thank you for buying DLS ULTIMATE 3-way system. This
instruction will help you to do a correct installation. This kit is de-
signed to reproduce the music in a natural way and it is the best
there is on the market. In order to get the best sound possible
from your speakers we advice you to read and follow this
instruction. A poor installation can ruin the sound from even the
most expensive speaker system.
MOUNTING:
Bass element 5,25" / 6,5"
Mount the speakers in the door side. If possible reinforce with a
baffle of MDF-board or similar. A mounting high up on the door
side is to be prefered. An alternative mounting is in kick panels
down on the floor on each side with the speakers facing up- and
inwards towards the listener. The best result will be achieved
using sealed boxes for the elements, 5-6 liters maximum. It is also
possible to use a membrane box of 2-3 liters. A mounting in the
door side without the use of boxes will lower the power handling
capacity, the cone movement will be too large causing a bad bass
reproduction. In a system with a separate subwoofer, and active
crossover, the system should be used with a 120-150 Hz high-
pass x-over. When using a passive x-over to the subwoofer,
connect a 150 - 200 µF capacitor in series with the 5,25" / 6,5"
bass element.
It is important to fasten the speakers properly in order to avoid
bad sound and rattling.
2,5" midrange element U2,5:
Should be mounted high up in the door side or in the dashboard.
Normally these speakers don´t require any box. To get an
improved midrange, mount the U2,5 chamber box behind the
dome (extra accessory). When the midrange is mounted high up
in the dashboard the mid level becomes high. If so use the low mid
level in the filter box (jumper J1). If the level is still too high,
connect a 3-5 ohm resistor in series with the speaker + feed.
1" tweeter RC1:
A tweeter mounting together with the bass/mid element is to be
prefered. The tweeter can also be mounted on the dash-board or
recessed in the door using the delivered tweeter accessories. If
the midrange elements are mounted in the dashboard the best
sound stage will be achieved by mounting the tweeters in the front
side posts directed towards each other. The tweeter level can be
adjusted inside the filter box with jumper J2.
Filter boxes and grilles:
The filters included with the speakers must also be fastened
properly to avoid rattling. Don´t place them close to the cars cable
mats, this can cause interfering sounds. Make sure the cables
don´t get jammed causing a short circuit to ground. This can
damage the amplifier circuits. Both tweeter and midrange levels
can be adjusted in two steps inside the filter box by moving the
two jumpers J1 and J2. Make your own tests for best result. To
remove the cover just press on both sides and lift it upwards.
NOTE! The filters must be used. If the tweeters are connected
without filters they may be damaged and the sound reproduction
will be bad.
The speaker grilles are mounted in the plastic speaker frame by
the use of the rubber coumpound coming with the system. Spread
the compound even in the frame.

CONNECTION:
The drawing shows the connection of a 3-way system to one
channel. The other channel is connected in the same way. The
tweeter and mid levels are adjustable in two steps as described
below:
Tweeter level:
High = jumper connected between pin 2-4.
Low = jumper connected between pin 1-2.
Midrange level:
High = jumper connected between pin 1-2.
Low = jumper connected between pin 2-4.
