Service
If you are a new T-Mobile
®
customer and your service has not yet been activated,
call Customer Care at 1-800-937-8997 and a T-Mobile Activations representative will
assist you. You will need the following information when activating service:
• Your Service Agreement and the agent code on your Agreement.
• Your name, home address, home phone number, and billing address.
NOTE: For business and government accounts, please provide the name of the
organization, the address, and the tax ID.
• Your Social Security number, current driver’s license number, and date of birth for
credit check purposes.
• Your choice of T-Mobile rate plan and services. (see www.t-mobile.com for the
latest plan information.)
• SIM serial number and IMEI number. (located on the box barcode label.)
NOTE: By activating service, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and
agree to be bound by each of T-Mobile’s Terms and Conditions, and your Service
Agreement.

Knowing the Keys
Key Function
Power Key
• Press and hold to turn on your phone.
• Press and hold to restart your phone, turn on or off Airplane
mode, enable silent mode, vibration mode or sound, or to
power off your phone.
• Press to switch your phone to Sleep mode.
• Press to wake up your phone.
Home Key
• Touch to return to the Home Screen from any application or
screen.
• Touch and hold to use Google search.
• Touch twice to see recently used applications.
Menu Key Touch to get the options for the current screen.
Back Key Touch to go to the previous screen.
Volume Keys Press or hold to turn the volume up or down.
Installing the SIM Card, microSDHC Card, and Battery
Switch off your phone before installing or replacing the battery or the SIM card. The
microSDHC card (sold separately) can be installed and removed while the phone is
turned on. Unmount the microSDHC card before removing it.

1. Remove the back cover.
2. Lift the rubber stopper, then insert SIM card into SIM slot.

3. The microSDHC card can be installed and removed while the phone is turned on.
Unmount the microSDHC card before removing it.
NOTE: microSDHC logo is a trademark of SD-3C, LLC.
4. Insert the battery by aligning the metal contacts on the battery with the metal
contacts in the battery compartment. Gently push down on the battery until it
clicks into place.
5. Press the cover gently back into place until you hear a click.

Charging the Battery
When you get your new phone, you’ll need to charge the battery.
If the battery is low, there will be a pop-up message on the screen. As you charge
your phone, the screen will tell you the exact battery level each time you wake up
your phone.
WARNING! Use only T-mobile approved chargers and cables. The use of unapproved
accessories could damage your phone or cause the battery to explode.
1. Connect the adapter to the charging jack. Ensure that the adapter is inserted with
the correct orientation. Do not force the connector into the charging jack.
2. Connect the charger to a standard AC wall outlet. If the phone is on, you’ll see a
charging icon, such as or , appear on the status bar.
3. Disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged.

Powering On/Off
Make sure the SIM card is in your device and the battery is charged.
• Press and hold the Power Key to turn on your phone.
• To turn it off, press and hold the Power Key to open the options menu. Touch
Power off and then touch OK.
Locking/Unlocking the Screen and Keys
Your phone allows you to quickly lock the screen and keys (put the phone to sleep
mode) when not in use, and to turn the screen back on and unlock it when you need
it.
To lock the screen and keys:
To quickly turn the screen off and lock the keys, press the Power Key.
NOTE: To save battery power, the phone automatically turns off the screen after a
certain period of time when you leave it idle. You will still be able to receive messages
and calls while the phone screen is off.
To unlock the screen and keys:
1. Press the Power Key to turn the screen on.
2. Touch and hold
at the center of the screen.
NOTE: If you have set an unlock pattern, PIN or password for your phone (see
chapter Personalizing – Protecting Your Phone With Screen Locks), you’ll need to
draw the pattern or enter the PIN/password to unlock your screen.
