Drain Kit
for Evaporative Cooling System
EC1630 • EC1635
These instructions cover both below grade (EC1630) and above grade (EC1635) drain kits. Below grade drain kits
(EC1630) should be used in applications that require the Aerotech tank kit to be buried beneath the surface of the
ground. Above grade drain kits (EC1635) may be utilized in applications where the Aerotech tank kit is setting on or
above the ground surface.
Each EC1630 Kit includes:

Below Grade Tank Drain, EC1630
The below grade tank drain kit requires a drain tile, or similar means, to remove the water from beneath the
tank drain kit. This tank drain kit provides components (nipple, adapter, and 3 pc. drain fitting) necessary to
drain the tank from the bottom side. Failure to supply adequate means of water removal beneath the tank will
result in system malfunction, i.e. tank will not drain, tank support may wash out, etc...
1) Mounting the tank drain kit requires drilling a 1
3
/8" hole in the bottom of the tank. Be sure to position the hole
away from the center of the tank (toward the outside edge) to allow room for the submersible pump, and also
to avoid interference with float valve mechanism.
2) Install the drain fitting. The threaded stem should come in from the bottom of the tank, exposing threads on
the inside of the tank. Place the rubber washer over the threaded stem from inside of the tank and tighten in
place with the nut.
3) Glue the 1" x 40"L. pipe to the

/4" MPT x 1" slip adapter. When the connection has setup/dried it can be
screwed into the internal threads of the drain fitting. See Figure 1.
NOTE: Trim the 1" pipe length as necessary, it must be above the waterline and below the tank lid.

Above Grade Tank Drain, EC1635
The above grade tank drain kit provides components (valve, washers, and nut) necessary to drain the tank from the
sidewall, customer supplied water resistant caulking is required to properly seal the valve. It is the users’
responsibility to direct the water away from the tank support and side walls of the building. The exit side of the
valve incorporates a standard garden hose thread.
1) Mounting the tank drain kit requires drilling a 1

/16" hole in the side of the tank, close to the bottom surface.
2) Place a washer on the valve and install the valve from the outside of the tank. To prevent leakage it’s
necessary to put a thick bead of water resistant caulking around the washer before inserting into drilled hole.
3) Place a thick bead of water resistant caulking on the remaining washer and slide it over the valve from the inside
of the tank, use nut to secure the valve in position. See Figure 2.
