L Safety
Important safety instructions
specific to the tool
J Keep the tool out of the reach of
children. Store the tool in a dry,
enclosed space, out of the reach
of children.
To avoid danger to life from
electric shock:
J Check the condition of the tool, the
mains cable and the plug regularly.
Do not use tools if any parts are
damaged. Never open the tool. Repair or replacement
must be carried out by the Service Office or an
electrician only. Damaged tools, mains cables or
mains plugs pose a danger to life from electric shock.
J Repairs must only be carried out by an expert or
the responsible Service Office.
J Do not use the tool if it is damp or in damp
conditions.
J When working outdoors, connect the tool via a
residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) with a
maximum 30 mA breaking current.
J Only use an extension cable that is approved for
outdoor use.
J Do not use the tool when it is raining or in wet
conditions.
J Always lead the mains cable
T
to the rear away
from the tool.
To avoid danger to life and risk of injury:
J Make sure that the tool is only operated by
persons over 18 years of age in accordance
with the operating instructions.
J Clamp the workpiece tightly in position (with
chucking fixtures or in a vice) or secure it where
it is not held in place by its own weight.
J Take precautions where working with
the tool may generate harmful,
inflammable or explosive dust. Wear a mask to
protect against dust. If you are working on wood
for any length of time, and particularly if you are
working on materials which can generate harmful
dust, connect the appliance to a suitable external
dust extractor system.
J Protect yourself against noise. Wear
ear protectors.
J Keep your working area clean. Mixtures of different
materials are particularly dangerous. Dust from
light metal can burn or explode.
J Do not work with any material containing asbestos.
Asbestos can cause cancer.
J Keep both hands out of the sawing area. Never
reach underneath the workpiece. Contact with
the saw blade can cause injury.
J The power tool must be switched on when you
apply it to the workpiece. Otherwise there is
danger of kick back if the tool gets caught in
the workpiece.
J Make sure that the sole plate
O
is properly in
contact when sawing. If the saw blade
w
is
skew, it can break or cause kick back.
J When you have finished any cutting operation,
switch the power tool off and do not remove the
saw blade
w
from the cut until it has come to
a standstill. This helps to prevent kick back and
allows you to put the power tool down safely.
J Only use saw blades that are undamaged and in
perfect condition. Bent or blunt saw blades can
break or cause kick back.
J Do not try to slow the saw blade
w
down after
switching off by applying pressure from the side.
The saw blade
w
may be damaged, break or
cause kick back.
J Use suitable detectors to locate concealed supply
lines, or contact your local utility provider. Contact
with electric power lines can causere and electric
shock. Damage to a gas line can cause explosion.
Damage to a water pipe causes damage to
property and can cause electric shocks.
J Only touch the power tool on the insulated
handle if you are working where the tool can hit
concealed electric power lines or the tool’s own
mains cable during operation. Contact with a live
cable makes the metal parts of the power tool
7 GB/IE
Safety / Initial operation
live and causes electric shocks.
How to work safely:
J Never use the tool for any other than its intended
purpose and only with original parts / accessories.
J Always keep a tight hold on the tool when working.
Make sure that you have a secure footing.
J Always remove the mains plug from the socket
during any breaks from work, before working on
the tool (e.g. changing the saw blade) and when
the tool is not in use.
J Handle the tool with caution and care. It must
be kept clean, dry and free from oil or
lubricating grease.
J Pay attention at all times. Always concentrate on
what you are doing and work sensibly. Do not
under any circumstances use the tool if you are
unable to concentrate or are feeling unwell.
L Initial operation
L Information on saw blades
The Parkside standard equipment includes saw
blades for wood and metal working. You may also
use any other type of saw blade, provided it is
equipped with the appropriate holder (T-shank). A
wide range of optimised saw blades for all jigsaw
applications is available on the market.
L Inserting / changing the saw blade
mNote:
Only use saw blades with a T-shank.

L Fitting the splinter guard
j Insert the splinter guard
r
in the sole plate
O
from below and push it forward into the grooves.
This protects the workpiece against damage.
L Fitting the parallel guide
The parallel guide

and set the distance.
j Tighten the two wing screws.
L Connecting a chip extractor
A chip extractor is indispensable during operation to
protect your own health and your working environment.

L Operation
L Setting the cutting angle
j Release the locking screw
{
with the Allen key
i
.
j Set the cutting angle on the sole plate
O
using the
engraved markings 0° / 15° / 30° / 45° (left / right)

after making the adjustment.
L Setting the stroke rate
j Set the required number of strokes on the
thumbwheel (speed selector)
R

j Wherever possible, always determine the best
settings in a test run before starting work.
L Setting the pendulum stroke
You can adjust the pendulum stroke of the saw blade
w
on the pendulum switch
}
. Working without pendulum
action (“0 position) produces fine and clean cut edges.
Switch the pendulum action off when working on
thin workpieces.
When the pendulum action is switched on (position
1 3), it is possible to work with increasing speed.
j Wherever possible, always determine the best
settings in a test run before starting work.
L Switching on / off
c Danger:
J Make sure before connecting the tool to the
mains that the power supply is 230 V ~ 50 Hz
and is equipped with a 16 A fuse.
Switching on
j Push the on-off switch
W
into “I” position until
it noticeably clicks into place.
Switching off
j Push the on-off switch
W
into “0” position.
It returns into “0” position.
L Maintenance and cleaning
L Maintenance
j Change the saw blade
w
as soon as the teeth
become blunt and it is no longer possible to
make a clean cut.
L Cleaning
j Always clean the tool directly after working with it.
j Remove any dirt (e.g. caused by chippings) with
a dry, non-fluffing cloth.
L Disposal
The packaging is made entirely of recyclable
materials, which you may dispose of at local
recycling facilities.
Do not dispose of electrical appliances
in household waste.
In accordance with European Directive 2002 / 96 / EC
on used electrical and electronic appliances and its
implementation in national law, used power tools
must be collected separately and recycled in an
ecologically compatible manner. Please return the
