GUV Control System
Risk of Fire, Electrical Shock, Cuts or other Casualty Hazards- Installation and maintenance of this product must be
performed by a qualied electrician. This product must be installed in accordance with the applicable installation code
by a person familiar with the construction and operation of the product and hazards involved.
Risk of Fire and Electric Shock- Make certain power is OFF before starting installation or attempting any maintenance.
Disconnect power at fuse or circuit breaker.
Risk of Fire- Minimum 90°C supply conductors.

FCC Regulations state that any unauthorized changes or modications to this equipment not expressly approved by the
manufacturer could void the user’s authorization to operate this equipment.
GUV Control System should only be operated by authorized personnel. Before operation, the installer must complete
and submit a checklist to Cooper Lighting Solutions to ensure the control system is installed correctly.

ATTENTION Receiving Department: Note actual product description of any shortage or noticeable damage on delivery receipt. File claim for common
carrier (LTL) directly with carrier. Claims for concealed damage must be led within 15 days of delivery. All damaged material, complete with original
packing must be retained.
GENERAL: Upon receipt of controller thoroughly inspect for any freight damage, which should be brought to the attention of the delivery carrier.
Compare the catalog description listed on the packing slip with the label on the controller to assure you have received the correct parts.

checklist to Cooper Lighting Solutions to ensure the control system is installed correctly.
GUV Important Safeguards
a. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
b. Safe use of this UV equipment relies primarily on equipment and site safeguards. It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure that
equipment is installed in accordance to the manufacturer’s instructions.
c. It is the operator’s responsibility to ensure the equipment is used in accordance with the manufacturer’s user guide.
(i.e. The device is operated when the room is unoccupied.)
d. This equipment is designed for use with germicidal xtures and must be installed in compliance with competent technical directions
to prevent the user’s eyes and bare skin from exposure to harmful UVC radiation.
e. UV radiation can reect off surrounding surfaces and may pass through certain clear or translucent materials. Follow the
manufacturer’s recommended practice for spacing this equipment from nearby objects and surfaces. Contact the manufacturer for
further guidance.
f. Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where it will not readily be subjected to tampering by unauthorized
personnel.
g. This equipment uses user-replaceable lamps, replace them only with the lamps for which the equipment is marked and intended.
h. The use of accessory equipment not recommended by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
i. Do not use this equipment for other than its intended use.
WARNING
GUV Control Panel
The GUV Control Panel manages the
GUV Control System based on
inputs received from GUV Clearance
Pushbuttons and GUV Magnetic Access
Sensors. Each GUV Control Panel can
have 1 GUV User Station and up to
24 GUV Clearance Pushbuttons
connected to it.
GUV User Station
The GUV User Station in an information
center and user interface to the GUV
Control System. It houses a keyed
activation switch to ensure only
authorized personnel can operate the
system, three LED indicators, and an
ON/OFF selector switch.
GUV Magnetic Access Sensor
The GUV Magnetic Access Sensor,
composed of an actuator and read
head, ensures all doors, windows and
other access points are closed. For the
GUV Control System to be activated, all
of these sensors must be in the closed
position. Opening a door or window
will stop the GUV session.
GUV Clearance Pushbutton
GUV Clearance Pushbuttons are
used to verify that no one is within
the space prior to the GUV session.
Pushbutton will light up when the
button is pressed letting the user
know it is active.

General Information
The instructions in this user guide are provided to reduce the risk of accidental exposure of GUV fixtures. Failure to follow these
instructions could potentially cause bodily harm to individuals in the space. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure the space is vacant
and that all instructions in the document are followed without deviation.
Following these instructions will verify:
1. The area to be disinfected has been thoroughly inspected for occupants.
2. All points of entry including doors, windows and pass-throughs are closed.
3. The fixtures will shut off automatically if anyone enters the space during operation.
Before Operating the System
This system should be operated by authorized personnel only. It is the user’s responsibility to complete all steps outlined in this user
guide each time the system is turned on. The user should become familiar with the components of the system and the area to be
disinfected. If there are any questions about the operation of the system or concerns the system is not operating properly, do not turn

How It Works
There are two main safeguards with the GUV Control System:
1. GUV Clearance Pushbuttons
2. GUV Magnetic Access Sensors
GUV Clearance Pushbuttons
The GUV Clearance Pushbuttons are placed throughout the space to be disinfected so the user clears the area of any occupants.
All GUV Clearance Pushbuttons must be pressed for the system to turn on. The operator of the system should follow the Area
Clearance Path provided to the customer upon installation of the system. An example of the clearance path is provided below:
GUV Magnetic Access Sensors
The GUV Control System has been specifically designed to create a containment area where the GUV fixtures will be operated. Doors,
windows, pass-throughs and all other potential points of entry have GUV Magnetic Access Sensors on them. These openings must be
closed for the system to turn on. Additionally, as an added safeguard, GUV Clearance Pushbuttons are wired with one or more GUV
Magnetic Access Sensors to cement the state of the sensor in the closed position. Once the state of the sensor is cemented in the
closed position, if a sensor is opened at any point during the clearance process, the system will not allow the GUV Fixtures to turn on.
If a sensor is opened during the disinfecting process, the system will turn the GUV Fixtures off.

Powering Up the System
The first step in operating the GUV Control System is to power on the system. To power on, use the selector switch located on the GUV
User Station. The selector switch has two positions marked as OFF and ON. Turn the switch clockwise to the ON position. The “START”
LED will illuminate letting the user know that power has been supplied to the system. The internal timer begins when the switch is
moved to the ON position, so prompt clearance of the area will be required so the system has enough time to disinfect the area.
Clearing the Area
Clearing the area will consist of closing all doors, windows and other points of entry into the space to be disinfected. It is most
important to clear and verify occupants have left the containment area before leaving the room. This includes checking in cubicles,
under desks, behind curtains, in bathroom stalls or any other spaces where someone could be concealed from direct line of sight..
Locate the Clearance Path Sheet associated with the area to be disinfected. Follow this path, closing all points of entry and pressing
GUV Clearance Pushbuttons along the way. Usher anyone in the area out of the space to be disinfected. As the GUV Clearance
Pushbuttons are pressed, they should illuminated and stay illuminated. If the light in the button immediately turns off, check to ensure
all openings are in the closed position and press the button again. The light should stay illuminated. If not, refer to the troubleshooting
guide located at the end of this document.
After all points of entry have been closed and all GUV Clearance Pushbuttons are pressed, return to the GUV User Station. The “Ready”
LED light should be illuminated letting the user know that all openings are in the closed position and all GUV Clearance Pushbuttons
are active. If the LED is not illuminated, you MUST follow the entire start up sequence again. DO NOT look for the GUV Clearance
Pushbutton in the space that is not illuminated. Doing this could result in someone being exposed to GUV fixtures. Turn the selector
switch to the OFF position and then back ON. Follow the Clearance Path again and verify no one is in the space.
Turning the GUV Fixtures On
When the “READY” LED is illuminated, the system is ready to be activated. Insert the key into the GUV User Station and turn it
clockwise. The “GO” LED will illuminate notifying the user that the GUV fixtures are on. The key will return to the original position.
Remove the key.
Turning the GUV Fixtures Off
There are three ways to turn the system off.
1. The preset timer will expire, and the system will turn off.
2. Someone disengages a GUV Magnetic Access Sensor by entering the space.
3. The “START” selector switch is moved to the OFF position.
Powering Down the System
After each cleaning, the selector switch should be moved to the OFF position. This will remove power from the GUV Magnetic Access
Sensors and GUV Clearance Pushbuttons. This will prevent the GUV Clearance Pushbuttons from being illuminated if pressed by
someone in the space and prepare the system for the next disinfection cycle.
