certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage32.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeHowtoresettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage44.

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

TosetthepasswordviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,followthesesteps:

TheAxisproductprovidesseveralvideostreamformats.Yourrequirementsandthepropertiesofyournetworkwilldeterminethe

typeyouuse.

TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream

proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.

AboutH.264format

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion

JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace

arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Decidingwhichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof

yournetwork.TheavailableoptionsinAXISMediaControlare:

UnicastRTP

Thisunicastmethod(RTPoverUDP)isused

forliveunicastvideo,especiallywhenitis

importanttohaveanup-to-datevideostream,

evenifsomeframesaredropped.

RTPoverRTSP

clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,passanetworkrouterunlessthe

routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample.

Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof10

simultaneousconnections.

AXISMediaControlnegotiateswiththeAxisproducttodeterminethetransportprotocoltouse.Theorderofpriority,listedinthe

thebitrateaccordingtothecomplexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.

Variablebitrateissuitableifthereisasurplusinbandwidth,wheretheincreasedbitratemaynotbeanissue.

Ifyouhavelimitedbandwidth,werecommendMaximumbitrate(MBR).MBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratetocontrolthe

bandwidthconsumption.Thetargetvaluelimitsthebitrate,butitmaintainsaexibilitytobeabletoprioritizeacontinuousvideo

stream.Consequently,theframeratemightneedtogodownandtheimagequalitymightdecrease.Topartlycompensateforthis,

intheH.264streambyremovingunnecessarydata,whichmakesitpossibletostreamhigherresolutions,reducestoragecost

orkeeprecordingsforalongertime.

Toreducetheaveragebitrate,Zipstreamreducesthebitrateinareasoftheimagethatarelessinterestingfromavideosurveillance

perspective,forexamplethebackground.Imagedetailsthatareimportantforforensicvideoanalysis,forexamplefacesand

licenseplates,areencodedwithahigherbitrate.

Recommendeduseofbitratereduction

Zipstreamoffersanumberofbitratereductionpresets,fromLowtoExtreme.Lowbitratereductionisenabledbydefaultandis

safetouseinallapplicationswhilestillreducingthebitrate.

WerecommendusingtheExtremebitratereductiontomaximizestoragetimeforcloud-connectedcamerasorcamerasusingedge

storage.Thissettingissuitabletocombinewithmotiondetectiontriggeringandvariablebitrate(VBR)wherethebitrateisallowed

toadapttochangesincomplexityinthescene.

ThebitratecontrollerbuiltintotheproductcanbecombinedwithZipstreamtoensureamaximumbitrate(MBR)limit.We

thestrongerthegain.SelecttheLinearorEqualizationautomaticgaincontrolmethod.Thelatterusesahistogramequalization

method,whichadjuststhegaindynamicallybydistributingthemostfrequentintensityvalues.

Gain-Gainistheamountofamplicationappliedtoanimagesignal.Moregainmeansmorecontrastandmoredetailsbutalso

morenoise.Themaxgainvalueissetforallscenes,butaffectsprimarilylowcontrastscenescontrollingtheamountofallowednoise

intheimage,whichinturnalsolimitsthecontrast.
