INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING
WARNING! Make sure the Power Switch of the Battery Charger is in its “OFF”
position and that the tool is unplugged from its electrical outlet before performing any
inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures.
1. If the Cable Clamps short-circuit during operation, or they are placed wrong on the
battery, the blade Fuse (19) will blow. Replace with the same type fuse.
2. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Battery Charger. Check for loose
screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts, damaged
electrical wiring, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. If
abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. Do
not use damaged equipment.
3. Periodically recheck all nuts, bolts, and screws for tightness.
4. Store in a clean and dry location.
8. Charge rate (Amps) listed in the Table on the previous page, is the rate or Amps that the
batteries is being charged at, controlled by the Current Setting (1-6) and the Volt Switch (6V,
12V, 24V). Turn the right Voltage knob to the correct battery voltage (6, 12, or 24V).
9. Plug the Cable Plug (14) into the electrical outlet.
10. To use the “Jump Start” (100 Amps) feature, set the Current Knob to the highest setting (6).
While an assistant is activating the Jump Start Switch (9), turn the ignition key to “On/Start”
and try and start the car. If the car does not start after 10-15 seconds of “cranking”, STOP
cranking the engine IMMEDIATELY and have the assistant release the Jump Start
Switch (9) immediately also. Excessive cranking may overheat and damage the starter.
While waiting for the starter to cool down, allow the charger to continue to charge the battery.
Do not attempt to crank the motor more the 15 seconds in a 5-minute period.
NOTE: If the battery being “Jump Started” has very low voltage, it may be necessary to “Fast
Charge” the battery for approximately 5 minutes prior to attempting to “Jump Start”. If the
battery stops charging while “Fast Charging” or charging a battery that is completely
discharged, it may be necessary to move the Current Knob to a lower level, wait 5 minutes
and then briefly press the Thermal Overload Button (26).
Caution: Do not overcharge batteries. The Battery Charger must be monitored, it does NOT
have an automatic shutoff system.
11. When finished charging the battery, unplug the line cord from the electrical outlet.
12. Disconnect the Cable Clamps from the battery.
