substances,theporesofthedustbagbecomeclogged.Asaresult,thedustbag-fullindicatorwill

indicatethatthedustbagisfull.Replacethedisposabledustbagoremptythereusabledustbag,

evenifitisnotfullyet(seechapter‘Replacing/emptyingthedustbag’).

Neverusetheappliancewithoutthemotorprotectionlter.Thiscoulddamagethemotorand

shortenthelifeoftheappliance.

Preparing for use

Hose

1 Toconnectthehose,pushitrmlyintotheappliance(‘click’)(Fig.2).

2 Todisconnectthehose,pushthebuttonsandpullthehoseoutoftheappliance(Fig.3).

Tri-Scopic tube

1 Toconnectthetubetothehandgrip,pressthespring-loadedlockbuttononthehandgrip

andinsertthehandgripintothetube.Fitthespring-loadedlockbuttonintotheopeningin

thetube(‘click’)(Fig.4).

2 Todisconnectthetubefromthehandgrip,pressthespring-loadedlockbuttonandpullthe

handgripoutofthetube.

3 Adjustthetubetothelengthyoundmostcomfortableduringvacuuming.Pressoneofthe

twocollarsdownwardsandpullthetubepartabovethecollarupwardsorpushit

downwards(Fig.5).

Keepthetubeawayfromyourfacewhenyouextendit.Thetubeisverylong.

Tri-Active nozzle

TheTri-Activenozzleisamulti-purposenozzleforcarpetsandhardoors.

Thesidebrushescatchmoredustanddirtatthesidesofthenozzleandallowyoutoclean

betteralongfurnitureandotherobstacles(Fig.6).

Theopeningatthefrontofthenozzleallowsyoutovacuumlargerparticles(Fig.7).

1 ToconnectanddisconnecttheTri-Activenozzle,usethesamemethodasforthetube.

2 Tocleanhardoors,pushtherockerswitchontopofthenozzlewithyourfoot(Fig.8).

Thebrushstripforcleaninghardoorscomesoutofthehousing.Atthesametime,the

wheelisliftedtopreventscratchingandtoincreasemanoeuvrability.

3 Tocleancarpets,pushtherockerswitchagain(Fig.9).

Thebrushstripdisappearsintothenozzlehousingandthewheelisloweredautomatically.

Using the appliance

Pullthecordoutoftheapplianceandputthemainspluginthewallsocket.

2 Presstheon/offbuttonontopoftheappliancewithyourfoottoswitchonthe

appliance(Fig.15).

Adjusting suction power

Duringvacuuming,youcanadjustthesuctionpower.

Usemaximumsuctionpowertovacuumverydirtycarpetsandhardoors.

Useminimumsuctionpowertovacuumcurtains,tablecarpets,etc.



Withtheinfraredremotecontrol,youcansetthesuctionpowertooneof5differentsuction

powersettings.Whenyouswitchontheappliance,italwaysstartsrunningatthehighestsuction

powersetting.

Toreducethesuctionpowerbyonesetting,pressthe-button(Fig.16).

Toincreasethesuctionpowerbyonesetting,pressthe+button(Fig.17).



Duringvacuumcleaning,youcanadjustthesuctionpowerwiththesuctionpowerknobontop

oftheappliance(Fig.18)

Pausing during use

1 Ifyouwanttopauseforamoment,inserttheridgeonthenozzleintotheparkingslotto

parkthetubeinaconvenientposition(Fig.19).

2 Iftheapplianceisequippedwithaninfraredremotecontrol(specictypesonly),pressthe

standbybuttontoswitchoffthevacuumcleanertemporarily,forinstancewhenyouhaveto

movesomefurniture.(Fig.20)

3 Tocontinuevacuumcleaning,pressthestandbybuttonagain.Theappliancethenstarts

operatingatthepreviouslyselectedsuctionpowersettingagain.

Replacing/emptying the dustbag

Alwaysunplugtheappliancebeforeyoureplacethedisposabledustbagoremptythereusable

dustbag.

Replacing the disposable dustbag

Replacethedustbagassoonasthedustbag-fullindicatorhaschangedcolourpermanently,i.e.

evenwhenthenozzleisnotplacedontheoor(Fig.21).

1 Pullthecoverupwardstoopenit(Fig.22).

2 Liftthedustbagholderoutoftheappliance(Fig.23).

Makesureyouholdthedustbaguprightwhenyouliftitoutoftheappliance.

3 Pullatthecardboardtagtoremovethefulldustbagfromtheholder(Fig.24).

Thedustbagissealedautomatically.

4 Slidethecardboardfrontofthenewdustbagintothetwogroovesofthedustbagholderas

faraspossible.(Fig.25)

5 Putthedustbagholderbackintothevacuumcleaner.

Note: If you have not inserted a dustbag, you cannot close the cover.



In some countries, this vacuum cleaner also comes with a reusable dustbag that can be used and

emptiedrepeatedly.Youcanusethereusabledustbaginsteadofdisposabledustbags.

1 Removethereusabledustbagfromtheapplianceandtheholderasdescribedinsection

2 Slidetheclipoffthedustbagsideways.

3 Shakeoutthecontentsintoadustbin.



ridgeatthebottomtoensurethatittsproperlyatthetop(1).Thenpresshomethelter

5 Placethedustbagholderwiththedustbagbackintotheappliance.

ThisapplianceisequippedwitheithertheSuperCleanAirHEPA12lterortheUltraCleanAir

HEPA13lter.Theseltersarelocatedinthebackoftheappliance.Theyareabletoremove99.5%

and99.95%respectivelyofallparticlesdownto0.0003mminsizefromtheoutletair.Thisnotonly

includes normal house dust, but also harmful microscopic vermin such as dust mites and their

excrements,whicharewell-knowncausesofrespiratoryallergies.

Note: To guarantee optimal dust retention and performance of the vacuum cleaner, always replace the

HEPA lter with an original Philips lter of the correct type (see chapter ‘Ordering accessories’).



ReplacetheSuperCleanAirHEPA12ltereverysixmonths.Thislterisnotwashable.

Troubleshooting
