Operating the 700-D
“In-Close”
The “In-Close Cylinder” is a Bimba 241 DP, which is mounted on the outboard
side of each of the four carriages. When this cylinder is extended, it overrides the carriage
cylinders (Bimba 123 DP), which actually closes the carriages. This puts the carriage in
the “In-Close” position. This means the carriage is not fully closed leaving the jambs free
to move around. This “In-Close” position is adjustable
There is a ½”-flat head bolt the “In-Close Cylinder” indexes against. Screw the
bolt outward for more clearance between carriages and the jamb. Screw the bolt inward
to decrease the clearance between the carriage and jamb.
When the “In-Close Cylinder” finally retracts, it allows the carriage to close
completely, securely clamping the doorframe for assembly.
1. Press the Reset Button R or L depending on the hand of door to be framed. If the
machine is just turned on, you must press button followed by pressing the
“Sequence Forward” foot pedal.
2. Feed in the door that you are going to frame, with the hinge jamb already
fastened, all the way to the Door Stop. (Door Stop is a cylinder on the “Sill End
Hinge Jamb Carriage” that is in the “In-Close” position.)
3. Place Strike Jamb and Head on the door.
4. While holding Head in place, press the “Sequence Forward” foot pedal, and the
remaining three carriages will close into clamp position.
NOTE: The two carriages on the “Hinge Jamb” side will be in the “In-Close”
position. This allows the door and frame to roll along the wheels freely.
5. Roll the door and frame towards the “Head End” of the machine, until the Head
hits the “Head End Reference Plates.”
6. Press the “Sequence Forward” foot pedal, the “Sill End Jamb Clamps” will
extend, pushing both, the Hinge and Strike jambs against the Head, which in turn
pushes against the “Head End Reference Plates.” Five of the six “Pop-Up
Cylinders” will extend, pushing the jambs, head and door up against the “Top
Reference Plates.” Both “Sill Reference Pads” will extend at this time. The “Sill
End-Strike Side, Pop-Up Cylinder” is the only cylinder that does not extend at
this time. With this cylinder retracted, and the “Sill End-Strike Side Carriage” in
the “In-Close” position, makes the “Sill End” of the strike jamb easy to move
outward. Sill can be placed into the bottom of the doorframe.
7. Place sill into position between both jambs, resting on “Sill Reference Pads.”
NOTE: The strike jamb should move outward quite easily for sill to fit between
both jambs.
