Do not use ultra-thick or ultra-soft residential toilet tissue
with VacuFlush® and SeaLand® toilet systems
While softer, thicker toilet tissues may be acceptable for standard
residential toilet use, tests have found that some of these tissue paper products
may not dissolve well, making it difcult for low water consumption toilets to move
the tissue through a standard sewage system.
Because SeaLand toilet systems use very small amounts of water, some ultra-thick
or ultra-soft residential tissue papers have shown a tendency to accumulate in a
VacuFlush vacuum tank or waste holding tank. As tissue accumulates, incoming
ush water is unable to move the undissolved paper through the tank. Build-up of
this tissue in a vacuum tank or holding tank will eventually make the toilet system
inoperable. Consequently, such residential toilet tissue is not recommended for
use in any Dometic toilet system (with VacuFlush or SeaLand toilets).
Avoid toilet system clogs – use RAPID-DISSOLVING toilet tissue
To avoid potential clogging problems with some household tissues, Dometic
recommends the use of quick-dissolving tissue, such as SeaLand® Rapid-
dissolving 1-ply or 2-ply Toilet Tissue. To determine any tissue’s ability to dissolve,
immerse one square of tissue in a jar of water and shake 5 times. The tissue
sample should disintegrate so that it is no longer in one piece. See images below.
