The Intellinet 561204 is an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet PoE+ switch that provides power and data to connected devices over a single cable. This guide presents the basic steps to set up and operate this device. For detailed

instructions and specications, refer to the user manual enclosed with this product

or at intellinetnetwork.com.

Ports

All ports on the switch support Auto-MDI/MDI-X functionality, so you can use

straight or crossover UTP/STP cables to connect the RJ45 ports to PCs, routers,

hubs, other switches, etc. Cat5/5e/6 UTP/STP cables provide optimal performance;

if a status LED doesn’t indicate a link, check the corresponding device for proper

setup and operation.

LEDs

The LED indicators make monitoring and troubleshooting easier. If a status LED

doesn’t indicate a link or activity, check the corresponding device for proper setup

and operation.

• Ports 1 – 8: 10/100/1000 Mbps ports, IEEE 802.3af/at compliant, providing a

maximum of 30 watts to connected PoE devices. The total PoE budget for this

switch is 60 watts, the per-port average power distribution is 7.5 watts.

• Port 1: The designated uplink port can be used the same way as any of the

other ports, however, when port isolation (VLAN mode 1 or 2) is active, this port

remains accessible from all other ports.

Prior to use, place/position the switch:

•Onalevelsurfacethatcansupporttheweightoftheswitch(andanyotheritems

that need to be considered);

•Withaminimumof25mm(approx.1”)ofclearanceonthetopandsides

for adequate ventilation;

•Awayfromelectric-noisesources:radios,transmitters,broadbandampliers,etc.;

•Whereitcannotbeaectedbyexcessivemoisture.

Use the included power adapter to connect the receptacle on the back of the

switch to a power outlet, and conrm that the Power LED lights.

VLAN Mode

The Intellinet 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Switch (561204) features port

isolation,alsoreferredtoas“PrivateVLAN”.Itisolatesallports

from each other and only allows access to the uplink port. This

is useful, for example, if a private VLAN is a hotel where each

room or apartment has a network port for Internet access. All

ports can all access the Internet, but they cannot access each other.

Mode Operation

Normal

The switch operates as a standard Ethernet switch. All ports can

communicate with each other.

VLAN1 Ports 2 – 8 are isolated from each other, but do have access to port 1.

VLAN2

Ports 2 – 8 are isolated from each other, but do have access to port

1. In addition, the connection speed of ports 2 – 8 is limited to 10

Mbps.
