RECOMMENDATIONS
1 This appliance has been designed for private, non-
professional use in normal dwellings.
2 Before using the appliance, carefully read the
instructions contained in this manual, as they provide
important information for ensuring safe installation,
use and maintenance. Keep this booklet in a safe
place for further reference when required.
3 After the packing has been removed, make sure the
appliance has not been damaged during transport. If you
have any doubts, do not use the appliance. Call a
qualified technician for assistance. For safety purposes,
keep all packing materials (plastic bags, polystyrene
foam, tacks, etc.) away from children, as they are a
potential source of injury.
4 The appliance must be installed by a qualified technician
in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Improper installation due to a failure to follow these
instructions can cause injury or damage to persons,
animals or property. The manufacturer will not be held
liable for such damages.
5 The appliance’s electrical system is safe and secure
only when it is correctly connected to an appropriately
earthed system which complies with electrical safety
regulations. Make sure this basic safety requirement has
been complied with. If in doubt, have it checked by a
qualified technician. The manufacturer will not be held
liable for damages caused by the improper earthing of
the appliance.
6 Before connecting the appliance, make sure the
specifications on the rating plate correspond to those of
your power supply.
7 Make sure that the current of the electrical system and
the outlets are sufficient for the maximum rated output
indicated on the rating plate. If in doubt, contact a
qualified technician for assistance.
8 A multipolar switch, with a contact break of 3 mm or
more, must be fitted for installation.
9 This appliance must only be used for the purpose for
which it was designed.
10 All other uses (for heating for example) are considered
improper and, therefore, dangerous.
11 The manufacturer will not be held liable for damages
arising from improper, incorrect, or unreasonable use.
12 When using electrical appliances, the following basic
rules must be observed:
l never touch the appliance when your hands or feet are
wet.
l never use the appliance if you are barefoot.
l use extensions, if necessary, with extreme caution.
l never pull the supply cord, or the appliance itself, to
disconnect the plug from the electrical socket.
l never leave the appliance exposed to the weather (rain,
sun, etc.)
l never let children or persons unfamiliar with the
appliance use it without appropriate supervision.
13 Before doing any cleaning or maintenance work on the
appliance, disconnect it from the supply mains, either
by removing the plug from the socket, or by turning off
the power at the mains.
14 If the glass surface of the cooktop cracks or breaks,
disconnect the appliance immediately from the power
supply. For repairs contact only authorised service
centres for assistance and make sure only original spare
parts are used. Failure to do so could impair the safety
of the appliance.
15 If you decide not to use the appliance any longer, make
it unserviceable by unplugging the appliance from the
mains and cutting the supply cord. Make any potentially
dangerous parts safe, this precaution is particularly
important for protecting children who might play with, or
in, unused or abandoned appliances.
16 The top made of ceramic glass is resistant to sudden
temperature changes and shocks. However, if it is
struck with pointed utensils or objects such as
cutting knives, it may crack or break. If this occurs,
disconnect the appliance immediately from the power
supply and contact an authorised service centre.
17 Keep in mind that the cooking area remains hot for at
least a half an hour after the appliance has been turned
off. Make sure that you do not inadvertently place
containers or objects on the cooking area while it is still
hot.
18 Do not turn the heating elements on if there are plastic
objects or aluminium foil on the cooktop.
19 Do not get too close to the cooking areas when they are
hot.
20 When using small electrical appliances near the cooktop,
make sure that the supply chord does not come into
contact with those parts of the appliances which are
hot.
21 Make sure that the handles on pots and pans are turned
inward to prevent bumping them accidentally.
22 Never leave a cooking element on unless cookware is
placed on the element because the cookware will
become very hot in a short period of time and this may
damage the heating elements.
23 Instructions for using the appliance the first time.
The glue used to seal the glass may leave grease
residues. We recommend that these residues be removed
with a non-abrasive cleaning product before the appliance
is used. During the first few hours of use, you may detect
the odour of rubber. However, this will disappear quickly.
24 Do not gaze fixedly at the halogen heating elements
when they are in operation: they produce a strong
light which could be bothersome to the eyes.
25 Oven accessories which may come into contact with
food are make in materials complying to what is laid
down in EEC Directive 89/109 of 21.12.88 and national
regulations in force.

HOB OPERATION
The burners differ in size and power. Choose the most
appropriate one for the diameter of the cookware being used.
The burner can be regulated with the corresponding control
knob "H" by using one of the following settings:
Off = l
High flame =
Low flame =
The burners are fitted with automatic ignition and
thermocouple safety device, which automatically cuts off the
gas from the burner in a few seconds if the flame accidentally
goes out during operation.
To ignite a burner, proceed as follows:
l turn the relative knob "H" counter-clockwise until the
pointer is on the high-flame symbol;
l press the knob down fully to activate the automatic gas
ignition ;
l keep the knob pressed down for about 10 seconds with
the flame lit to allow the safety thermocouple to be heated;
l release the knob, checking that the flame is stable. If it
is not, repeat the operation.
For minimum power, turn the knob "H" towards the low flame
symbol " ". Intermediate positions are possible by putting
the knob anywhere between the high " " and the low " "
flame symbol.
To turn off the burner, turn the knob clockwise to the off
position "l" .
Important:
l Do not activate the automatic ignition device for more
than 15 consecutive seconds.
l Difficulty in ignition is sometimes due to air inside the
gas duct.
l If a burner flame accidentally goes out, the gas continues
to exit for a few moments before the safety device
activates. Turn the control knob to the off position and do
not attempt ignition again for at least 1 minute, thereby
letting the gas disperse, which could otherwise be a
danger.
l When the equipment is not in operation, check that the
knobs are in the off position "l". The main gas supply
cut-off cock should also be closed.
Using the burners
To obtain maximum efficiency from the burners, it is
advisable to use only pans with a diameter that is suitable
for the burner being used, so that the flame does not extend
beyond the pan base (see following table).
When a liquid starts boiling, it is advisable to turn the flame
down just enough to keep the liquid simmering.

The radiating elements "O" are circular heating elements.
They turn red shortly after being switched on.
The mixed halogen elements "N".The hob uses elements
consisting of a halogen lamp and a circular heating element.
Thanks to this combination the temperature is distributed
evenly over the entire cooking area while maintaining all
the advantages of the halogen lamps. The main feature of
the halogen lamps is the instant emission of a great quantity
of light and heat, basically:
l fast heating similar to that of a gas burner;
l turning off is just as fast;
They are extremely easy to use being exactly the same as
the other heating elements. Refer to table 1.
The control knobs
Each cooking area has a knob to control it "N/O". With this
knob you can adjust temperature continuously going from a
minimum of 1 to a maximum of 12.
Table 1 shows you the correspondence between the
positions given on the knob and what each plate is most
suited for.
With the control knob of plate "N" usually only the small
part of the plate heats up (850 W). To heat all the plate
(2400 W) turn the "I" knob beyond position 12 round
to the symbol: when you hear a click you know the whole
plate is on. Now you can adjust it to the temperature wanted
using the same knob, up to 12.
GRIDDLE OPERATION
To turn the griddle "A" on, turn knob "I" onto one of the
positions indicated, "I", "II", "III". Each of these positions
corresponds to a different temperature.
Every time you finish using the griddle, make sure you
empty out the dripping tray "L", removing the chopping board
from its housing beforehand.
Notes:
l Try to avoid liquids overflowing from pans onto the
griddle;
l Never leave the griddle on if not in use or with empty
pans on it and do not use the griddle to heat up the
room;
l The griddle does not require a long time to pre-heat;

Residual heat indicator light "P"
This light indicates that the temperature of one or more
cooking areas is above 60°C, even thought the elements
have been turned off. Some models come equipped with
four such indicator lights, one for each of the four cooking
areas.

The red control light indicates when The cast-iron griddle is
heating up.
Pilot lamp for Cast-iron griddle "R"
The cast-iron griddleis fitted with a pilot lamp which goes
out when the set temperature is reached.
Instructions on how to use the ceramic glass
cooktop
To obtain the best results with the ceramic glass cooktop,
several fundamental rules should be followed while cooking
or preparing food.
l Use cookware with a flat bottom to make certain that
the pot sets properly on the cooking area.
l Use cookware with a diameter large enough to
completely cover the cooking plate in order to utilise all
of the heat produced by the heating element.
l Make sure that the bottom of the cookware is always
clean and dry to provide good contact between the
cooking surface and the cookware. This will also increase
the life of the cooktops and cookware.
l Do not use cookware which has been used with gas
burners. The concentrated heat produced by gas burners
can deform the bottom of the cookware. As a result, it is
impossible to obtain the results desired when this type
of cookware is used on a ceramic glass cooktop.
l Never leave a heating on element unless cookware is
placed on the element because the cookware will
become very hot in a short period of time and this may
damage the heating elements.
l Keep in mind that the cooking area remains hot for at
least a half an hour after the appliance has been turned
off. Make sure that you do not inadvertently place
containers or objects on the cooking area while it is still
hot.
l Do not turn the heating elements on if there are plastic
objects or aluminium foil on the cooktop.
l Do not get too close to the cooking areas when they are
hot.
l The ceramic glass used to make the cooktop is very
durable. However, should it crack, do not use the
cooktop and disconnect it from the power supply.
l Instructions for using the appliance the first time:

on the glass during storage. We recommend that these
residues be removed with a non-abrasive cleaning
product before the appliance is used. During the first
few hours of use, you may detect the odour of rubber.
However, this will disappear quickly.
l The top made of ceramic glass is resistant to sudden
temperature changes and shocks. However, if it is struck
with pointed utensils or objects such as cutting knives,
it may crack or break. If this occurs, disconnect the
appliance immediately from the power supply and contact
an authorised service centre.

To ensure long life of the appliance, it is essential to carry
out a thorough general clean frequently, taking into account
that:
The appliance should be disconnected from the mains
supply before starting cleaning operations.
l Avoid cleaning appliance parts when they are still warm.
l The enamelled or chromed or glass parts must be
washed with warm water without using abrasive powders
or corrosive substances which could ruin them.
l The steel parts, especially in areas with the screen-
printed symbols, should not be cleaned with diluents or
abrasive detergents; preferably use just a soft cloth
moistened with warm water and liquid detergent for
washing dishes (wipe the cloth over the steel in the same
direction as the satin-finish). Denatured alcohol may be
used to remove stubborn dirt. After cleaning, rinse
thoroughly and carefully dry with a soft cloth.
l Treatment may be carried out after cleaning to restore
the shine to the surface: only use specific products for
stainless steel.
l Avoid leaving acid liquids (vinegar, lemon juice, aggres-
sive detergents, etc.) on enamelled or painted parts.
l The removable parts of the burners should be washed
frequently with warm water and soap, making sure to
remove caked-on substance. Check that the gas outlet
slits are not clogged. Dry the burners carefully before
using them again.
l Frequently clean the end part of the automatic glow plugs
of the hob.
Greasing the taps
As time passes, a tap may lock or become difficult to turn. In
this case it will be necessary to clean inside and replace the
grease. This procedure must be performed by a qualified
technician.
Cleaning the chopping board and griddle
Keep to the indications given above and clean the different
components regularly, as follows(fig. 1-2):
l remove the chopping board "D" from its housing;
l pull out the dripping tray "L";
l remove the griddle "A" from its housing;
l lift the heating element holding onto the right-hand part
"1" (this component is attached to the hob by a hinge
that allows for a movement of approximately 20°);
l pull out the protection underneath the heating element
"2";
l clean all the components with a cloth moistened in
lukewarm water mixed with washing-up liquid;
Always keep the surface of the cooktop clean. However,
before cleaning, make sure that the cooktop has been turned
off and is no longer hot.
Stainless steel top
The steel parts, especially in areas with the screen-printed
symbols, should not be cleaned with diluents or abrasive
detergents; preferably use just a soft cloth moistened with
warm water and liquid detergent for washing dishes.
Denatured alcohol may be used to remove stubborn dirt.
After cleaning, rinse thoroughly and carefully dry with a soft
cloth. Treatment may be carried out after cleaning to restore
the shine to the surface: only use specific products for
stainless steel.
Cleaning the surface of the cooktop
Before using the cooktop, it must be cleaned with a damp
cloth to remove dust and residues left from prior cooking.
The surface of the cooktop must be cleaned regularly with
a solution of warm water and non-abrasive soap. Products
specifically designed for cleaning the surfaces of ceramic
glass cooktops must be used on a periodic basis. First,
remove all residue and grease with a scraper used for
cleaning purposes (fig. 3-4), such as (not
supplied). Clean the cooktop when it is warm, using a
suitable cleaning product and paper towels, then rub with a
damp cloth, and dry. Aluminium foil, plastic or synthetic
objects, sugar or food products with a high sugar content,
which melt on the surface of the cooktop should be removed
immediately with a scraper while the cooktop is still hot.
Cleaning products made especially for ceramic glass leave
a protective film on the surface which repels residues and
grease build-up. This film also serves to protect the surface
from damage caused by food products with a high sugar
content. Never use sponges or abrasive products at any
time. In addition, chemically aggressive cleaning products,
such as oven sprays or stain removers, should not be used.

l when all the components have been cleaned, reassemble
them.
Try to avoid cleaning the electric heating element itself.

The following instructions are provided for qualified installers
so that they may accomplish installation, adjustment and
technical maintenance operations correctly and in
compliance with current regulations and standards.
Important: the appliance should be disconnected from
the mains electricity supply before any adjustment,
maintenance, etc. is carried out. Maximum caution should
be used whenever it is necessary to keep the appliance
connected to the electricity supply.
The cookers have the following technical specifications:

The dimensions of the appliance are given in figure on page
1. For trouble-free operation of appliances installed between
housing units, the minimum distances shown in fig.5 should
be observed. Adjacent surfaces and the wall at the rear
should also be able to withstand a temperature of 65 °C.
In the lower part of the cooker there are 4 height adjustable
screw-in feet with which it is possible to level the cooker if
necessary.
Positioning
This appliance may only be installed and operated in
permanently ventilated rooms in compliance with provisions
laid down by current regulations and standards. The following
requirements must be observed:
l The appliance must discharge combustion products into
a special hood, which must be connected to a chimney,
flue pipe or directly to the outside (fig.6).
l If it is impossible to fit a hood, the use of an electric fan
is permitted, either installed on a window or on an
external wall, which must be switched on at the same
time as the appliance.

Kitchen ventilation
The air flow into the room where the appliance is installed
must equal the quantity of air that is required for regular
combustion of the gas and for ventilating the same room.
Air must be taken in naturally through permanent apertures
made in the outside walls of the room or through single or
branching collective ventilation ducts in compliance with
the standards in force. The air must be taken directly from
the outside, from an area far from sources of pollution.
The ventilation aperture must have the following
characteristics (fig.7A):
l total free cross section of passage of at least 6 cm² for
every kW of rated heating capacity of the appliance,
with a minimum of 100 cm² (the heating capacity is
indicated on the rating plate);
l it must be made in such a way that the aperture, both on
the inside and outside of the wall, cannot be obstructed;
l it must be protected, e.g. with grills, wire mesh, etc. in
such a way that the above-mentioned free section is not
reduced;
l it must be situated as near to floor level as possible.
The air inflow may also be obtained from an adjoining room,
provided the latter is not a bedroom or a room where there
is a risk of fire, such as garages, mews, fuel stores, etc.
and is ventilated in compliance with the standards in force.
Air from the adjoining room to the one to be ventilated may

be made to freely pass through permanent apertures with a
cross section at least equal to that indicated above. These
apertures may also be obtained by increasing the gap
between the door and the floor (fig.7B). If an electric fan is
used for extracting the combustion products, the ventilation
aperture must be increased in relation to its maximum per-
formance. The electric fan should have a sufficient capacity
to guarantee an hourly exchange of air equal to 3-5 times
the volume of the kitchen. Prolonged, intensive use of the
appliance may require extra ventilation, e.g. an open window
or a more efficient ventilation system by increasing the
extraction power of the electric fan if installed. Liquid
petroleum gas descends towards the floor as it is heavier
than air. Apertures in the outside walls in rooms containing
LPG cylinders should therefore be at floor level, in order to
allow any gas from leaks to be expelled. Do not store LPG
cylinders (even when empty) in basements/rooms below
ground level; it is advisable to keep only the cylinder in use
in the room at any one time and connected far from heat
sources which could raise its temperature to above 50 °C.
Gas supply connection
l Check that the appliance is set for the type of gas
available and then connect it to the mains gas piping or
the gas cylinder in compliance with current regulations
and standards.
l This appliance is designed and set to work with the gas
indicated on the label situated on the actual hob. If the
gas supply is other than the type for which the appliance
has been set, proceed with replacing the corresponding
nozzles (provided), following instructions given in the
paragraph “Adaptation to different types of gas”.
l For trouble-free operation, suitable use of energy and
longer life of the appliance, make sure that the supply
pressure complies with the values indicated in the table
1 "burners and nozzles specifications, otherwise install
a special pressure regulator on the supply pipe in
compliance with current standards and regulations.
l Connect in such a way that the appliance is subjected to
no strain whatsoever.

Either a rigid metal pipe with fittings in compliance with the
standards in force must be used for connecting to the nipple
union (threaded ½"G male fitting) situated at the rear of the
appliance (fig.8), or flexible steel pipe in compliance with
the standards in force, which must not exceed 2000 mm in
length. Should it be necessary to turn the fitting, the gasket
(supplied with the appliance) must be replaced. Upon
completion of installation, check the gas circuit, the internal
connections and the taps for leaks using a soapy solution
(never a flame). Also check that the connecting pipe cannot
come into contact with moving parts which could damage or
crush it. Make sure that the natural gas pipe is adequate for
a sufficient supply to the appliance when all the burners are
lit
Important: A pressure regulator, in compliance with the
standards in force, must be inserted when connecting to a
liquid gas supply (in a cylinder).

Adaptation to a different type of gas
If the appliance is to be converted for use with a type of gas
other than that for which it was set in the factory (indicated
on the label to be found on the hob), the burner nozzles
should be replaced as follows:
l Remove the pan supports and the burners.
l Unscrew the nozzles "A" (fig.9) using a 7 mm socket
wrench and replace them with the ones which have a
diameter suitable for the type of gas to be used,
according to the table 1 (burners and nozzles
specifications).
l On completing the operation, replace the old rating label
with the one showing the new type of gas; the sticker is
available from our Service Centres.
Adjusting the low flame
l Put the tap to the low flame position;
l Remove the tap knob and turn the adjusting screw,
situated to the side of the tap stem (fig.10), using a
screwdriver (loosening the screw increases the height
of the flame, tightening decreases it).
note: the adjusting screw must be fully screwed down
for liquid gas.
l Having obtained the low flame setting required and with
the burner lit, abruptly change the position of the knob
several times from minimum to maximum and vice ver-
sa and check that the flame does not go out.

Electrical connection
THE APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
The cooktop is designed to work with alternating current at
the supply voltage and frequency indicated on the rating
plate (situated under the hob or at the end of the instruction
booklet). Make sure that the local supply voltage
corresponds to the voltage indicated on the rating plate.
The electrical cooktop is not supplied with a power supply
chord because the type of chord used depends on the type
of electrical connection (see the following connection
diagram).
Use a rubber cable of the type H05VV-F.
Open the terminal box following the instructions illustrated
in the diagram below:
To connect the supply chord, proceed as follows:
l Loosen the screws on the wire clamp “V”, as well as
the screws for the contacts.
l Insert the wires beneath the contact screws, as shown
in the diagram, and tighten them.
l Fasten the chord with the appropriate wire clamp and
close the cover.

Connecting the supply cable to the mains
Fasten the appropriate standard plug for the load indicated
the rating plate to the chord. If the appliance must be directly
connected to the mains, a multipolar switch must be installed
between the appliance and the mains. The multipolar switch
must have a minimum of 3 mm of space between the
contacts, be sized to the load, and comply with current
regulations (the switch must not be able to disconnect the
earth conductor). The supply cord must be positioned so
that no part of it reaches a temperature of 50 °C higher
than room temperature. Before making the connection, make
sure that:
l the limiter valve and the residential wiring can support
the appliance load (see rating plate);
l the mains system is properly earthed in compliance with
current regulations and provisions;
l there is easy access to the socket or the multipolar
switch after the appliance is installed.
Attention: If the cooktop is installed above a built-in oven,
the electrical connection for the cooktop must be
independent of that for the oven, both for safety reasons
and to facilitate the removal of the oven for maintenance,
repair, etc.
