4. SYSTEM CONSTRUCTION
Basic connection examples are shown for use when creating a Network camera system. Refer to the Setting
Manual (PDF file) for representative connection examples.
4.1. Before Making Connections
4.1.1. About the PoE* switching hub
Because the N-VT2010 Network Video Transmitter, N-VR2010 Network Video Receiver, and N-CC2360
Network Color Camera are compatible with PoE Standards, power can be supplied to them using a single
network cable. This eliminates the necessity for preparing a separate power supply in each camera installation
location, and greatly improves installation freedom. (*PoE : Acronym for Power over Ethernet. This complies
with the IEEE802.3af standard and allows simultaneous transmission of both normal data and DC power
using a 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX network.)
4.2. Basic Connection Examples
The connection of a basic system is shown below.
The analog CCTV system is comprised of conventional cameras and switchers.
When using a PoE-compatible hub, the power supply need not be connected to the N-VT2010 Network Video
Transmitter, N-VR2010 Network Video Receiver and N-CC2360 Network Color Camera.
When using a hub not supporting PoE, power must be independently supplied to each device. Connect AC
MAINS to N-DR2000 Network Video Recorder.
Connect 24V AC to the N-CC2564 Network Combination Dome Camera.

Notes
For more details about connection terminals, refer to the installation manual for the Combination dome
camera.
The method used to connect the N-VT2010's front panel to the PoE-compatible switching hub is the same as
the method used for connecting the CV series camera.
5. MAKING CONNECTIONS
Refer to the following connection examples in addition to the basic system example when making connections
between devices. For more details, refer to the instruction manual for each device.

[ About point view and zoom view functions ]
Point view and zoom view functions are available for the type B protocol compatible combination dome
cameras. Perform settings as follow.
Set the camera control system to type B using the DIP switch.
(Set DIP DW2 switch No. 6 to the ON position.)
Perform the electronic zoom setting to X2Cont, X4Cont, X8Cont, or X12Cont. Perform camera menu
operation with the software decoder via a network.
For details, refer to the N-SD2000 instruction manual and Combination dome camera setting manual.

5.3. Network Combination Dome Camera Connection Example
Note
Because the power to the network combination dome camera is supplied from the existing AC line power
source, the PoE switching hub need not be used.

5.4. Network Video Recorder Connection Example
Note
Because the power to the network video recorder is supplied from the existing AC line power source, the PoE
switching hub need not be used.
5.5. Network Video Receiver Connection Example
[ About point view and zoom view functions ]
Point view and zoom view functions of the software decoder are available for the network combination dome
cameras. Perform settings as follow.
Perform the electronic zoom setting to X2Cont, X4Cont, X8Cont, or X12Cont. Perform camera menu
operation with the software decoder via a network.
For details, refer to the N-SD2000 instruction manual and network camera system setting manual.

Click on “OK.”
Click on “N-SD2000.”
A “Setup language selection” dialog is displayed.
Click on to select “English,” then click on “OK.”

SETUP : Opens the Setting Manual.
N-SD2000 : Opens the Software Decoder Instruction Manual.
[Installation]
N-SD2000 : Begins to install the N-SD2000 software.
Adobe Reader : Begins installation of Adobe Reader.
DirectX : Begins installation of DirectX.
6. INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE DECODER
Install the N-SD2000 software decoder on a PC.
1. Insert the CD-ROM into the PC’s optical drive. When the PC recognizes the CD-ROM, the “Netcansee
Setup Launcher” is automatically started.
Note
If the CD-ROM drive is not compatible with AutoRun, the Setup Launcher will not start when the CD-ROM is
inserted. If this happens, simply click on “Autorun.exe” in the CD-ROM to start the Netcansee Setup Launcher.
2. Click on “N-SD2000.”

3. The “InstallShield Wizard” window is displayed.
Click on “Next” according to the on-screen instructions, then install the software decoder. (For the details
about installation screen, refer to the software decoder instruction manual.)
Click on “Next”
4. Complete the installation.
Restart the PC after the installation is completed. The “N-SD2000” shortcut is created on the PC’s desktop
after restarted.
7. UNINSTALLING THE SOFTWARE DECODER
Delete the installed software decoder.
1. Click on “Start” and select “Control Panels.”
The items to be set using a PC are displayed from Control Panel.
2. Double-click on the folder “Add or remove programs.”
The “Add or remove programs” window is displayed.
3. Select “N-SD2000” and click on “Remove.”
The software is deleted.
Note: Be sure to exit the software decoder before uninstalling the software decoder.

Double-click on the icon.
8. OPERATION PROCEDURES
Basic operation procedures are as follows.
1. Start the software decoder. (Refer to the section “Starting the Software Decoder” below.)
2. Enter an appropriate password in the login screen.
3. Create a device list in the Device Manager window. (Refer to p. 12, Creating Device List.)
4. Display, record, or play back the desired images.
• Display live images using the PC.
• Display live images using a receiver.
• Record images on the network video recorder.
• Recorded images using the PC.
9. STARTING THE SOFTWARE DECODER
Once the software decoder has been installed, start (launch) it as follows:
1. Double-click on the “N-SD2000” shortcut on the desktop.
The N-SD2000 launches and a login dialog appears. It is also possible to start the N-SD2000 by selecting
“Start” “ALL Programs” “TOA” “Netcansee” “N-SD2000.”
Notes
• Before starting the software decoder, make sure that both Adobe Reader and DirectX have been installed.
Use the Setup Launcher to install these programs if necessary.
• The method used to connect the N-VT2010’s front panel to the PoE-compatible switching hub is the same
as the method used for connecting the analog CCTV system.
• When it is first launched, the software decoder automatically checks the performance specifications of the
installed graphics card. If the detected card is found to have insufficient performance specifications, some
functions may be restricted. In such cases, the warning “Some functions will be unavailable due to the
graphics card limitations” will appear. Restricted functions will include the following:
· Use of the Snapshot function during live or recorded playback
· Use of the Digital Zoom function during live or recorded playback
· Use of the Image Freeze function during display
· Use of the Rectangular Display function found within the Motion Detection setting screen
· Use of the White Frame display function used in the Zoom View function

2. Select a network card.
The network cards installed on the PC and their IP addresses are displayed in the Network card list. Select
the card to use from this list.
Notes
• The software may not function correctly if an incorrect network card is selected.
• Network cards with multiple IP addresses are duplicated in the list for each different IP address. Select the
IP address to use.
3. Start login.
Enter the appropriate password in the N-SD2000 login screen. If the correct password has been entered,
the software decoder’s main window is displayed.
Note
Depending on the specifications of the PC being used, there may be a slight delay before the main window
is displayed.

10. EXITING THE SOFTWARE DECODER
Click on the “X” button on the title bar to quit the software decoder.
Note
Turn off current on-screen images before quitting the software decoder. Failing to turn off images before
quitting the software decoder may cause delays in renewing connections the next time the software decoder is
started.
11. CHANGING THE PC IP ADDRESS
The method of changing the IP address differs depending on the Operating System (OS) installed on the PC
to be used. The following operation procedures use the Windows XP.
1. Select “Start” “Control Panel” “Network connections.”
2. Select “Local area connection,” then press the right-click.
3. Select “Properties.”
4. Select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP),” then press on “Properties.”
5. Perform IP address setting on the screen.

(1) Tree View area
Network cameras to be displayed in this area can be grouped together and registered to facilitate user
understanding of the camera composition in each view.
(2) Device Manager button
Detects network devices connected to the LAN and displays the registration window.
(3) Recording Search button
Displays a window to be used to search for recordings made by the network video recorder.
(4) Receiver button
Displays a window that enables the registered network receiver to display images.
(5) System Log button
Displays a system log window displaying log data pertaining to network devices.
(6) Device Maintenance button
Displays a window to be used for conducting maintenance on the configuration files and firmware of
network devices.
(7) General Settings button
Displays a window to be used for performing individual software decoder settings.
(8) Tool bar
Contains the operational buttons used to access functions including Image Cutoff, Snapshot, and Digital
Zoom.
(9) Control Buttons (p. 5-8, 5-10 and 5-29)
Includes buttons used to control audio communications and to switch the display screen format (single-
segment, 4-segment split, or full-screen).

Click on “Scan.”
Click on “Add to Device List
from Scan List.”
2. Click on “Scan.”
Devices connected to the network are displayed in the Scan List.
IP address of each device is factory preset to "192.168.14.1." Select the desired device, then right-click on
it. Perform each device's IP address setting in the network settings, taking care not to duplicate the IP
address of each device. It is also recommended that a list showing the relationship of camera installation
place to camera MAC address be prepared.
3. Select the device to be registered, then click on “Add to Device List from Scan List.”
The selected device is registered in the Device List.
Notes
To delete a device from the Device List, select the device and click on “Delete.”
Scanning a network detects all currently powered up devices installed on the network in locations within the
accessible local broadcast range.
Depending on the network environment, all relevant data may not be displayed in the Device List.
If a device with the same MAC address has already been registered in the Device List, this new device
cannot be registered in the list.
13. CREATING DEVICE LIST
Registering network devices in the Device List allows live image playback, recording search and recorded
image playback to be viewed on the software decoder as well as on a monitor connected to a receiver.
Devices can be registered in the Device List using either of two methods, by scanning or manually.

13.1. Registering Devices in the Device List by Scanning
This function scans the network to detect connected devices and registers these in the Device List
automatically.
1. Click on “Device Manager” in the administrator window.

13.2. Registering Devices in the Device List Manually
Use this registration method to register devices that are not currently connected to the network, or that are
installed in areas outside of the local broadcast range in the Device List.
1. Click on “Device Manager” in the administration window.
2. Click on “Add.”
A window for adding devices is displayed.
3. Set the model or IP address of the device to be added.
Enter the necessary items on the displayed window.
4. Clicking on “OK” registers the set device.
Note
To delete a device from the device list, select the device and click “Delete device.”

INSTALLED ON A PC
Display live images on the software decoder window.
1. Register the device from which live images are to be displayed in the Device List.
2. Register the device in the Tree View.
Place a checkmark in the “Design mode” checkbox in the Tree View, then drag the device from the Device
List to the Tree View.
3. Drag the device to be displayed from the Tree View to the desired view in the view window. The live image
will be displayed once the connection is completed.
Note: The N-VT2010, N-CC2360, and N-CC2564 can be registered in the Tree View.

15. DISPLAYING LIVE IMAGES VIA A RECEIVER
Display live images on the monitor connected to a receiver.
1. Register the receiver to be connected in the Device List.
2. Click on “Receiver” in the administration window.
3. Select the device to be displayed on the monitor from the Tree View, then drag it to the desired destination
device in the receiver window.
Once the connection is completed, the image will be displayed on the monitor connected to the receiver.

16. NORMAL RECORDING SETTINGS
Select the N-DR2000 recorder registered in the Device Manager’s Device List and right-click on it. From the
pull-down menu that appears after the selection, select “Browser connection (W).” The Web browser starts
and the connection authentication screen is displayed.
The authentication dialog is also displayed by directly entering the desired N-DR2000’s IP address in the Web
browser’s “Address” field and pressing the “Enter” key.
A user name and a password are preset by default as follow:
User : admin
Password : guest

Click on the “menu” and then “Camera preset.”
Enter the camera IP address to be recorded in the “IP address” column. If the network camera has been
connected to a network, clicking on the “Get” button allows the set camera name to be automatically retrieved
and entered. Click on the “Set” button after the camera name is entered.

Click on “Normal/Pre-alarm.”
Perform settings for “Recording mode,” “Resolution,” “Quality,” “Frame rate,” and “Audio” for each camera,
then click on the “Set” button.
After the settings are completed, click on the Recording button to begin Normal recording.
Clicking on “OK” the indication “Rec is stopped” to “Rec in progress.”

3. Select the network video recorder to be searched from the “Target.”
4. Click on “Search.”
Searched result is displayed in the Event Search List.
5. Select the desired recording to be played back from the Event Search List, then drag it to the desired view
in the view window.
Playback begins on the view window once the connection is complete.
17. VIDEO RECORDING PLAYBACK
Search and retrieve video recordings made by the network video recorder and play them back on the
software decoder.
17.1. Video Recording Playback
1. Register the network video recorder to be retrieved in the Device List.
2. Click on “Recording Search” in the administration window.

18. NETWORK VERIFICATION
Connections between two devices can be confirmed by means of a “ping” command, thereby allowing
confirmation of whether the device connected to a network is active or not.
Procedures to use Windows XP command prompt are described below.
1. Open a command prompt.
(Example) "Start Menu" "Run" Enter "cmd" in the name, then click on "OK."
2. Enter the device’s IP address after the “ping” command.
A response is received if the device is discovered.
(The figure shows a command prompt based on Windows XP.)
If there is no response, this means that the device’s address is not confirmed via a network. The following
causes can be considered for this:
The device is not correctly connected to the network.
Check the device for correct wiring.
The device is not correctly set on the network.
Check the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
