GENERAL INFORMATION

SECURE VENT® SQUARE

TERMINATION GUARD KIT

The Secure Vent® square termination guard may be used to cover the

Secure Vent and Secure Flex® square termination to minimize exposure

to the hot surface of the termination.

This kit contains one square termination guard and these instructions.

If you encounter any problems, need clariﬁcation of these instructions or

are not qualiﬁed to properly install this kit, contact you local distributor

or dealer.

Read this instruction sheet in its entirety before beginning the installation.

TION MANUALS PROVIDED WITH THE APPLIANCE APPLY TO THESE

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR SECURE VENT® SQUARE TERMINATION GUARD KIT

(MODEL NO. SV4.5HGS) (CATALOG NO. 87L02) USED WITH DIRECT-VENT GAS FIREPLACES

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1. Turn off the ﬁreplace and allow the termination to cool before

proceeding.

Step 2. Position the termination guard over the vent termination as shown

in Figure 1. Ensure that the rear bracket of the termination guard

sits on the top edge of the vent termination base.

Step 3. Secure the termination guard to the exterior wall of the house

using screws (ﬁeld-provided) suitable for the type of wall ﬁnish-

ing material encountered. Use six screws, each driven through a

pilot hole provided in the guard. See Figure 2.

THE TERMINATION GUARD PROVIDES A BARRIER TO PREVENT

DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE HOT TERMINATION EXCEPT AT

THE TOP PORTION OF THE TERMINATION GUARD. THIS AREA

IS EXTREMELY HOT DUE TO THE DISCHARGING FLUE GASES.
