Elba EH 733 BK is an electrical three burner built-in glass hob with 3 burners (2 triple ring), electronic ignition and safety devices. IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE OF
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
Use of any electrical appliance implies
the necessity to follow a series of
fundamental rules.
In particular:
Never touch the appliance with
wet hands or feet;
do not operate the appliance
barefooted;
do not allow children or other
incapable people to use the
appliance without your
supervision.
The manufacturer cannot be held
responsible for any damages caused
by improper, incorrect or illogical use
of the appliance.

IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
AND RECOMMENDATIONS
After having unpacked the
appliance, check to ensure that it
is not damaged. In case of doubt,
do not use it and consult your
supplier or a professionally
qualified technician.
Packing elements (i.e. plastic
bags, polystyrene foam, nails,
packing straps, etc.) should not
be left around within easy reach
of children, as these may cause
serious injuries.
Do not attempt to modify the
technical characteristics of the
appliance as this may become
dangerous to use.
Do not carry out cleaning or
maintenance operations on the
appliance without having
previously disconnected it from
the electric power supply.
If you should decide not to use
this appliance any longer (or
decide to substitute an older
model), before disposing of it, it
is recommended that it be made
inoperative in an appropriate
manner in accordance to health
and environmental protection
regulations, ensuring in particular
that all potentially hazardous
parts be made harmless,
especially in relation to children
who could play with unused
appliances.
TIPS FOR THE USER
During and immediately after use
some parts of the hob can reach
very high temperatures. Do not
touch them.
Keep children away when the hob
is in use.
After using the hob make sure
that the knob is turned off and
turn off the main tap of the gas
supply pipe or the cylinder tap.
When you are not using the hob
it is a good idea to turn off the
gas supply tap.
Regular lubrication of the gas
taps must only be performed by
specialised engineers. If the gas
taps are not working properly call
the After-Sales Service.
Make sure that the electrical
cables of other appliances
installed nearby cannot come into
contact with the cooktop.
Do not allow heavy or sharp
objects to drop on the glass hob.
If the hob is cracked or otherwise
damaged by falling objects etc.,
disconnect the electrical power
cord and call Customer Service.
CAUTION:
If the burner is accidentally
extinguished, turn the gas off at the
control knob and wait at least 1
minute before attempting to relight.
Gas hobs produce heat and
humidity in the environment in
which they are installed. Ensure
that the cooking area is well
ventilated by opening the natural
ventilation grilles or by installing an
extractor hood connected to an
outlet duct.
If the hob is used for a prolonged
time it may be necessary to provide
further ventilation by opening a
window or by increasing the
suction power of the extractor
hood (if fitted).

USE OF COOKING HOB

To light one of the gas burners, hold
a flame (e.g. a match) close to the top
part of the burner, push in and turn
the relative knob in an anti-clockwise
direction, pointing the knob indicator
towards the large flame symbol (i.e.
max. gas flow).
To reduce the gas flow to minimum,
rotate the knob further anti-clockwise
to point the indicator towards the
small flame symbol.
The maximum aperture position
permits rapid boiling of liquids,
whereas the minimum aperture
position allows slower warming of
food or maintaining boiling conditions
of liquids.
Other intermediate operating
adjustments can be achieved by
positioning the indicator between the
maximum and minimum aperture
positions, and never between the
maximum aperture and closed
positions.
GAS BURNERS
Gas flow to the burners is adjusted by
turning the knobs illustrated in fig. 2
which control the safety valves.
Turning the knob so that the indicator
line points to the symbols printed on the
panel achieves the following functions:
– full circle = closed valve
– symbol = maximum
aperture or flow
– symbol = minimum
aperture or flow

Lighting the burners

These models can be identified by the
symbol near the flame position
symbol (Fig. 3). To light one of the
burners, press and turn the
corresponding knob to the maximum
flow position (large flame) and keep the
knob pressed down until the gas is lit.
Turn the gas tap to the position required.
Whenever special conditions of the gas
supplied locally make it difficult to light
the burner with the knob in the
maximum flow position, repeat the
operation with the knob in the minimum
flow position.
The device shall not be operated for
more than 15 seconds. If after 15
seconds the burner has not lit, stop
operating the device and open the
compartment door and/or wait at
least 1 minute before attempting a
further ignition of the burner.
Lighting the burners

These models can be identified by the
symbol near the flame position symbol
(Fig. 3).In order to light the burner, you
must:
1 – Turn the knob in an anti-clockwise
direction up to the maximum
aperture, push in and hold the
knob (fig. 3); the sparks produced
by the electrode situated next to
the burner will light;
2 – Wait for about ten seconds after
the gas burner has been lit before
letting go of the knob (valve
activation delay);
3 – Adjust the gas valve to the desired
position.
If the burner flame should go out for
some reason, the safety valve will
automatically stop the gas flow.
To re-light the burner, return the knob
to the closed position and repeat the
operations for lighting.
If your local gas supply makes it
difficult to light the burner with the
knob set to maximum, set the knob to
minimum and repeat the operation.

ATTENTION:
The cooktop becomes very hot
while in operation.
Keep children away.
CHOICE OF THE BURNER
On the control panel, near every knob,
there is a diagram that indicates which
burner is controlled by that knob.
The suitable burner must be chosen
according to the diameter and the
capacity used.
As an indication, the burners and the
pots must be used in the following way: Fig. 4
It is important that the diameter of the
pots or pans suitably match the
heating potential of the burners in
order not to jeopardise the efficiency of
the burners, bringing about a waste of
gas fuel.
A small diameter pot or pan placed on
a large burner does not necessarily
mean that boiling conditions are
reached quicker.

Do not place anything, e.g. flame tamer, asbestos
mat, between pan and pan support as serious
damage to the appliance may result.
Locate pan centrally over the burner so that it is
stable and does not overhang the appliance.
Use only a wok support supplied or recommended
by the manufacturer of the appliance.
Do not remove the pan support and enclose the
burner with a wok stand as this will concentrate and
deflect the heat onto the hotplate.
Do not use large pots or heavy weights which can
bend the pan support or deflect the flame onto the
hotplate.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
GENERAL
Cleaning and maintenance should be
carried out with the appliance cold
especially when cleaning the
enamelled parts.
Avoid leaving alkaline or acid
substances (lemon juice, vinegar etc.)
on the surfaces.
Avoid using acid or chlorine-based
cleaning products.
ENAMELLED PARTS
All of the enamelled parts must be
washed only with a sponge and soapy
water or with non-abrasive products.
GAS TAPS
Periodic lubrication of the gas taps
must be carried out by specialist
personnel only.
In the event of operating faults in the
gas taps, call the Service Department.
BURNERS AND GRIDS
These parts can be removed and
cleaned with appropriate products.
After cleaning, the burners and their
flame distributors must be well dried
and correctly replaced.
It is very important to check that the
burner flame distributor F and the cap
C has been correctly positioned (see
side figure) - failure to do so can
cause serious problems.
Check that the electrode S is always
clean to ensure trouble-free sparking.
Check that the probe T is always
clean to ensure correct operation of
the safety valves (mod. EHS 733 WH,
EHS 733 BK with safety valve device).
Both the probe and ignition plug must
be very carefully cleaned.

GENERAL ADVICE
When the appliance is not being
used, it is advisable to keep the
gas tap closed.
If the gas tap becomes stiff, it is
necessary to dismount it
accurately, clean it with gasoline
and spread a bit of special
grease resistant to high
temperatures on it. This
operation must be executed by a
qualified technician.

The triple ring burner must be correctly
positioned (see fig. 7); the burner rib
must be enter in their logement as
shown by the arrow.

not rotate (fig. 8).

CLEANING THE TRIPLE RING
BURNER
Pay special attention to this burner: the
four holes around the outside of the
crown must always be kept clean.
When cleaning, remove the flame
divider (fig. 9) and use a cotton bud,
toothbrush, or some other item to clean
out any incrustations or dirt from the four
holes marked “H” (fig. 10).
This procedure is necessary to ensure
the burner functions correctly.

IMPORTANT
The appliance should be installed, regulated and adapted to function with other
types of gas by a QUALIFIED INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN.
Failure to comply with this condition will render the guarantee invalid.
The appliance must be installed in compliance with regulations in force.
Always unplug the appliance before carrying out any maintenance operations or
repairs.
The appliance must be housed in heat resistant units.
The walls of the units must not be higher than work top and must be
capable of resisting temperatures of 75 °C above room temperature.
Do not instal the appliance near inflammable materials (eg. curtains).

Foreword:
These tops are designed to be
embedded into kitchen fixtures
measuring 600 mm in depth.
In order to install the cooker top into
the kitchen fixture, a hole with the
dimensions shown in fig. 11 has to be
made, keeping in consideration the
following:
within the fixture, between the
bottom side of the cooker top and
the upper surface of any other
appliance or internal shelf there must
be a clearance of at least 30 mm;
the cooker top must be kept no less
than 100 mm away from any side
wall;
the hob must be installed at least
50 mm from the wall.
there must be a distance of at least
650 mm between the hob and any
wall cupboard or extractor hood
positioned immediately above.
It is essential to install a heat baffle
between the bottom of the hob and
the underlying unit.

INSTALLATION IN KITCHEN CABINET
WITH DOOR (fig. 13)
The fixture has to be made according
to specific requirements in order to
prevent the gas burners from going out,
even when the flame is turned down to
minimum, due to pressure changes
while opening or closing the cupboard
doors.
It is recommended that a 30 mm
clearance be left between the cooker
top and the fixture surface (fig. 13).
SETTLING THE HOB FOR
INSTALLATION
Every cooker top is provided with a set
of tabs for fitting to the unit with
thickness from 3 to 4 cm and a seal
with adhesive on one side.
Remove burners and grids.
Turn the cooker top over and rest
the glass side on a cloth.
Apply the self-adhesive seal “G” as
illustrated in fig. 14.
Slot the cooker top into the unit and
position.
Position the cooker top in the recess
and secure by means of the brackets
as shown in fig. 15 (for 3 or 4 cm
thick work top).

INSTALLATION ROOM
The room where the gas appliance is to
be installed must have a natural flow of
air so that the gas can burn.
The flow of air must come directly from
one or more openings made in the out-
side walls with a free area of at least 100
cm2.
If the appliance does not have a no-
flame safety device this opening must
have an area of at least 200 cm2.
The openings should be near the floor
and preferably on the side opposite the
exhaust for combustion products and
must be so made that they cannot be
blocked from either the outside or the
outside.
When these openings cannot be made
the necessary air can come from an
adjacent room which is ventilated as
required, as long as it is not a bedroom
or a dangerous area.
In this case the kitchen door must allow
the passage of the air.

DISCHARGING PRODUCTS OF
COMBUSTION
Extractor hoods connected directly to
the outside must be provided, to allow
the products of combustion of the gas
appliance to be discharged (fig. 16).
If this is not possible, an electric fan
may be used, attached to the external
wall or the window; the fan should
have a capacity to circulate air at an
hourly rate of 3-5 times the total
volume of the kitchen (fig. 17).
The fan can only be installed if the
room has suitable vents to allow air to
enter, as described under the heading
“Installation room”.

GAS SECTION
TYPES OF GASES
The gases normally used may be
grouped, in view of their features, in
three families:
- L.P.G. (in cylinders) G30
- NATURAL GAS (methane) G20
- CITY GAS G110
INSTALLATION
The appliance is predisposed and
adjusted to operate with the gas indicat-
ed on the specifications plate applied
onto the appliance.
If the appliance must be operated with
a gas different than that indicated on the
plate, it is necessary to execute the fol-
lowing operations:
– gas connection
– replacement of the injectors
– regulating of the minimum
GAS CONNECTION
The connection must be executed by
qualified technician according to the rel-
evant standard.
The fitting (fig. 18) is made up of:
1 elbow fitting “A
1 adapter “B” for natural or city gas
1 adapter “C” for L.P.G.
gaskets “D”, “E” and “F
The hob must be installed in a room
with adequate ventilation (see page 13).

Remove the adapter “C” using two
spanners.
Connect the cooking hob to the gas
net by a suitable rubber tube (inside
diameter 13 mm).
Make sure the tube is snugly fit at both
ends and use a standard tube clamp
(not supplied) to fasten it.
L.P.G. (in cylinders) G30
Fit up the adapter “C” to the adapter
B” interposing gasket “E”. Tighten
using two spanners.
Connect the cooking hob to the
cylinder pressure regulator by a
suitable rubber tube (inside diameter
8 mm).
Make sure the tube is snugly fit at both
ends and use a standard tube clamp
(not supplied) to fasten it.

IMPORTANT:
Never attempt to turn the elbow
“A” without having first slackened
off the relative lock nipple.
The seals “D-E-F” (fig. 18) are the
elements that guarantees the seal
in the gas connection.
It is recommended that they be
replaced whenever they shows
even the slightest deformation or
imperfection.
After connecting to the mains,
check that the couplings are
correctly sealed, using soapy
solution, but never a naked flame.
The connection with rigid metal
pipes should not cause stresses to
the hob ramp.
If the rubber tube is used for the
gas connection:
- Make sure the tube is snugly fit
at both ends and use a standard
tube clamp (not supplied) to
fasten it.
- The rubber tube must be as short
as possible, without contractions
or kinks.
- The rubber tube must never be at
any point in its lenght in contact
with the “hot” parts.
- From time to time check to make
sure that the rubber is in perfect
condition and substitute it at
printed due date or if it shows
signs of wearing or damage.

Orientation of the elbow
The appliance is supplied with a gas con-
nection oriented towards the centre of
the cooking hob. The connection to the
gas supply must be effected only from
this side or in vertical position by turning
the elbow downwards. To turn the elbow,
follow these operations:
loosen the nut
turn the elbow
lock the nut
make sure that there are no leakages
by a soapy solution
ATTENTION:
DO NOT FORCE THE
ELBOW ROTATION
PRIOR TO LOOSENING
THE NUT.

OPERATIONS TO BE PERFORMED
WHEN SUBSTITUTING THE
INJECTORS
If the injectors are not supplied they
can be obtained from the “Service
Centre”.
Remove the gratings and the burner
covers;
Using a wrench, substitute the
nozzle injectors “J” (Fig. 20) with
those most suitable for the kind of
gas for which it is to be used (see
Injector table).
The burners are conceived in such a
way so as not to require the
regulation of the primary air.
