Using the Eurotech Product Run-Times
The Eurotech Product Run-Times are customized Wind
River Linux images that have been configured to include
additional features not present in the Catalyst TC BSP:
Ethernet is automatically configured using DHCP.
sshd is started automatically.
X Windows is included. Use “startx” to start it.
Device drivers and network features have been
enabled to support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wireless
modem devices, NAT, NTP, etc.
The root account password is “IsiTech”.
This run-time image is ready for deployment as a product
platform and is the base run-time used by Eurotech’s ESF.
Installation
1. Insert the bootable Utiliboot USB flash drive, attach a
keyboard, and power on the system.
2. Log in on the console using the root account with the
password “IsiTech”.
3. To install to on-board media, continue with the next
step. Otherwise, insert your removable media now
and allow the system to detect the drive. You may use
your own media, however Eurotech only provides
support for media we supply.
4. Install the Eurotech Product Run-Time by following the
instructions in the README.txt file. The install
process normally takes four to ten minutes. There are
a number of options not used in the README.txt file.
To display all the options, run “make-media.sh –h”.
5. Use the “poweroff” command to safely shut down.
Updating Your Development System
To install the Eurotech Product Run-Time, use the
Utiliboot USB flash drive as described previously.
To re-install the Wind River Linux LiveUSB run-time
evaluation, follow the instructions in Appendix A of the
getting started guide.
To update the BIOS, contact Eurotech Support for
BIOS update files and utilities. You will install these
files on the bootable FreeDOS USB flash drive.
Hardware Features
For details about the hardware features, see the
Catalyst TC Development Kit User Manual, #110125-9000.
Module Compatibility
The Catalyst TC does not support all connectors on the
carrier board. For details, see the Catalyst TC
Development Kit User Manual.
Note that the Catalyst TC will not boot in designs for the
Catalyst Module, Catalyst XL, or Catalyst LP. The
Catalyst TC Compatibility Technical Bulletin,
#110125-5002 describes these compatibility options.
Troubleshooting
If you are directed to use Maintenance port P2 while
working with Eurotech staff, use the black DB9FF cable
supplied in this kit. P2 is not for application use and does
not follow the EIA-232C standard.
See the support forums for additional tips.
