sicurezza adeguato, devono essere seguite le Norme sopra riportate.
GENIUS non è responsabile dell’inosservanza della Buona Tecnica nella costru-
zione delle chiusure da motorizzare, nonché delle deformazioni che dovessero
intervenire nell’utilizzo.
L’installazione deve essere effettuata nell’osservanza delle Norme EN 12453 e EN
12445. Il livello di sicurezza dell’automazione deve essere C+D.
Prima di effettuare qualsiasi intervento sull’impianto, togliere l’alimentazione elettrica
e scollegare le batterie.
Prevedere sulla rete di alimentazione dell’automazione un interruttore onnipolare
con distanza d’apertura dei contatti uguale o superiore a 3 mm. È consigliabile l’uso
di un magnetotermico da 6A con interruzione onnipolare.
Verificare che a monte dell’impianto vi sia un interruttore differenziale con soglia
da 0,03 A.
Verificare che l’impianto di terra sia realizzato a regola d’arte e collegarvi le parti
metalliche della chiusura.
L’automazione dispone di una sicurezza intrinseca antischiacciamento costituita da
un controllo di coppia. E’ comunque necessario verificarne la soglia di intervento
secondo quanto previsto dalle Norme indicate al punto 10.
I dispositivi di sicurezza (norma EN 12978) permettono di proteggere eventuali
aree di pericolo da Rischi meccanici di movimento, come ad Es. schiacciamento,
convogliamento, cesoiamento.
Per ogni impianto è consigliato l’utilizzo di almeno una segnalazione luminosa nonché
di un cartello di segnalazione fissato adeguatamente sulla struttura dell’infisso, oltre
ai dispositivi citati al punto “16”.
GENIUS declina ogni responsabilità ai fini della sicurezza e del buon funzionamento
dell’automazione, in caso vengano utilizzati componenti dell’impianto non di
produzione GENIUS.
Per la manutenzione utilizzare esclusivamente parti originali GENIUS.
Non eseguire alcuna modifica sui componenti facenti parte del sistema d’au-
tomazione.
L’installatore deve fornire tutte le informazioni relative al funzionamento manuale
del sistema in caso di emergenza e consegnare all’Utente utilizzatore dell’impianto
il libretto d’avvertenze allegato al prodotto.
Non permettere ai bambini o persone di sostare nelle vicinanze del prodotto
durante il funzionamento.
L’applicazione non può essere utilizzata da bambini, da persone con ridotte ca-
pacità fisiche, mentali, sensoriali o da persone prive di esperienza o del necessario
addestramento.
Tenere fuori dalla portata dei bambini radiocomandi o qualsiasi altro datore di impul-
so, per evitare che l’automazione possa essere azionata involontariamente.
Il transito tra le ante deve avvenire solo a cancello completamente aperto.
L’utente utilizzatore deve astenersi da qualsiasi tentativo di riparazione o d’intervento
e deve rivolgersi solo ed esclusivamente a personale qualificato GENIUS o centri
d’assistenza GENIUS.
Tutto quello che non è previsto espressamente in queste istruzioni non è permesso.

GENERAL SAFETY REGULATIONS
ATTENTION! To ensure the safety of people, it is important that you read all the
following instructions. Incorrect installation or incorrect use of the product
could cause serious harm to people.
Carefully read the instructions before beginning to install the product.
Do not leave packing materials (plastic, polystyrene, etc.) within reach of children
as such materials are potential sources of danger.
Store these instructions for future reference.
This product was designed and built strictly for the use indicated in this documen-
tation. Any other use, not expressly indicated here, could compromise the good
condition/operation of the product and/or be a source of danger.
GENIUS declines all liability caused by improper use or use other than that for which
the automated system was intended.
Do not install the equipment in an explosive atmosphere: the presence of inflam-
mable gas or fumes is a serious danger to safety.
The mechanical parts must conform to the provisions of Standards EN 12604 and
EN 12605.
For non-EU countries, to obtain an adequate level of safety, the Standards mentioned
above must be observed, in addition to national legal regulations.
GENIUS is not responsible for failure to observe Good Technique in the construction
of the closing elements to be motorised, or for any deformation that may occur
during use.
The installation must conform to Standards EN 12453 and EN 12445. The safety level
of the automated system must be C+D.
Before attempting any job on the system, cut out electrical power and disconnect
the batteries.
The mains power supply of the automated system must be fitted with an all-pole
switch with contact opening distance of 3mm or greater. Use of a 6A thermal breaker
with all-pole circuit break is recommended.
Make sure that a differential switch with threshold of 0.03 A is fitted upstream of
the system.
Make sure that the earthing system is perfectly constructed, and connect metal
parts of the means of the closure to it.
The automated system is supplied with an intrinsic anti-crushing safety device
consisting of a torque control. Nevertheless, its tripping threshold must be checked

as specified in the Standards indicated at point 10.
The safety devices (EN 12978 standard) protect any danger areas against mecha-
nical movement Risks, such as crushing, dragging, and shearing.
Use of at least one indicator-light is recommended for every system, as well as a
warning sign adequately secured to the frame structure, in addition to the devices
mentioned at point “16”.
GENIUS declines all liability as concerns safety and efficient operation of the automa-
ted system, if system components not produced by GENIUS are used.
For maintenance, strictly use original parts by GENIUS.
Do not in any way modify the components of the automated system.
The installer shall supply all information concerning manual operation of the system
in case of an emergency, and shall hand over to the user the warnings handbook
supplied with the product.
Do not allow children or adults to stay near the product while it is operating.
The application cannot be used by children, by people with reduced physical, men-
tal, sensorial capacity, or by people without experience or the necessary training.
Keep remote controls or other pulse generators away from children, to prevent the
automated system from being activated involuntarily.
Transit through the leaves is allowed only when the gate is fully open.
The User must not in any way attempt to repair or to take direct action and must
solely contact qualified GENIUS personnel or GENIUS service centres.
Anything not expressly specified in these instructions is not permitted.

L’installation doit être effectuée conformément aux Normes EN 12453 et EN 12445.
Le niveau de sécurité de l’automatisme doit être C+D.
Couper l’alimentation électrique et déconnecter la batterie avant toute interven-
tion sur l’installation.
Prévoir, sur le secteur d’alimentation de l’automatisme, un interrupteur omnipolaire
avec une distance d’ouverture des contacts égale ou supérieure à 3 mm. On recom-
mande d’utiliser un magnétothermique de 6A avec interruption omnipolaire.
Vérifier qu’il y ait, en amont de l’installation, un interrupteur différentiel avec un
seuil de 0,03 A.
Vérifier que la mise à terre est réalisée selon les règles de l’art et y connecter les
pièces métalliques de la fermeture.
L’automatisme dispose d’une sécurité intrinsèque anti-écrasement, formée d’un
contrôle du couple. Il est toutefois nécessaire d’en vérifier le seuil d’intervention
suivant les prescriptions des Normes indiquées au point 10.
Les dispositifs de sécuri (norme EN 12978) permettent de protéger des zones
éventuellement dangereuses contre les Risques mécaniques du mouvement, comme
l’écrasement, l’acheminement, le cisaillement.
On recommande que toute installation soit doté au moins d’une signalisation lumi-
neuse, d’un panneau de signalisation fixé, de manière appropriée, sur la structure
de la fermeture, ainsi que des dispositifs cités au point “16”.
GENIUS décline toute responsabilité quant à la sécurité et au bon fonctionnement
de l’automatisme si les composants utilisés dans l’installation n’appartiennent pas
à la production GENIUS.
Utiliser exclusivement, pour l’entretien, des pièces GENIUS originales.
Ne jamais modifier les composants faisant partie du système d’automatisme.
L’installateur doit fournir toutes les informations relatives au fonctionnement manuel
du système en cas d’urgence et remettre à l’Usager qui utilise l’installation les
“Instructions pour l’Usager” fournies avec le produit.
Interdire aux enfants ou aux tiers de stationner près du produit durant le fonc-
tionnement.
Ne pas permettre aux enfants, aux personennes ayant des capacités physiques,
mentales et sensorielles limitées ou dépourvues de l’expérience ou de la formation

Eloigner de la portée des enfants les radiocommandes ou tout autre générateur
d’impulsions, pour éviter tout actionnement involontaire de l’automatisme.
Le transit entre les vantaux ne doit avoir lieu que lorsque le portail est complète-
ment ouvert.
L’utilisateur doit s’abstenir de toute tentative de réparation ou d’intervention et
doit s’adresser uniquement et exclusivement au personnel qualifié GENIUS ou aux
centres d’assistance GENIUS.

1. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
We thank you for having chosen one of our products. GENIUS is certain that from it you will obtain all the performance you
require. All our products are the result of years of experience in the field automated systems, with the added advantage of
being part of one of the sector’s leading groups.
The Sprint 10 SW control unit is designed for controlling sliding gate operators powered using 230V~ or 115V~ voltage by means
of automatic voltage and network frequency recognition, therefore a single board regardless of the input voltage.
The innovative power switching circuit makes it so the board is not affected by mains voltage variations, keeping the motor
and accessories output value constant.
Thanks to the powerful microprocessor the unit is equipped with, detailed personalisation of gate operation is made possible
by setting the operating parameters to adapt it to your needs. In addition to allowing setting and displaying of the operating
parameters, the large backlit display also constantly shows the status of the gate and provides instructions in case of
malfunction.
A series of built-in LEDs guarantee immediate diagnostics of the safety devices, limit switches and STOP input.
Thanks to encoder management and the possibility to adjust the motor power and sensitivity of encoder operation on four
levels, the Sprint 10 SW unit also allows, if correctly installed and set, to reduce the number of accessories required for installation
compliant with the safety regulations in force.

2.1. SAFETY FUSES
The unit features 6 safety fuses for protecting the power supply and various accessories connected to the board:

The high level of safety of the self-resetting fuses makes it possible to protect the board from overloads or short circuits, by opening
the contact. Unlike replaceable fuses, where you see the broken element, the action of the self-resetting fuses is noticed only
when the accessories protected by the fuse malfunction. To check if the fuse has been blown, proceed as follows:
Cut power from the board.
Check the connection of the accessories that are not working, paying close attention to any short circuits.
Check the max allowed load described in the instructions.
Wait at least 5 minutes and restore power.
3. PREPARATIONS
For safety reasons, it is important for people to carefully follow all the warnings and instructions contained in this booklet.
Incorrect installation or incorrect use of the product can cause serious harm to people.
Keep these instructions for further reference.
Ensure that upstream from the system there is a suitable differential switch, as provided for in current safety regulations.
The power grid must feature a magneto-thermic switch with omnipolar cut-off.
Check that an adequate earthing system is present.

For cable installation use adequate rigid and/or flexible tubes.
Always separate the 230/115 V~ power cables from the low-voltage ones using separate sheaths, to avoid possible
interference.

5. CONNECTIONS AND OPERATION
5.1. TERMINAL BOARD M1 (Fig. 2)
5.1.1. Open A
Terminals OPA & COM2”. Normally open contact. To these terminals, connect any pulse generator (e.g. button, key switch,
etc.) which, by closing the contact, must command complete opening of the gate. Operation of this input is determined by
the parameter “d” (see paragraph 9).
More than one pulse generator connected to this input must be connected in parallel.
5.1.2. Open B
Terminals OPB & COM2”. Normally open contact. To these terminals, connect any pulse generator (e.g. button, key switch,
etc.) which, by closing the contact, must command partial opening of the gate.
Complete opening always has priority over partial opening of the gate.
Partial opening of the gate equals approximately one metre.
More than one pulse generator must be connected in parallel.
5.1.3. sAFety edge
Terminals “COSTA & COM2”. Normally closed contact. To these contacts, connect any sensitive safety edges installed on the
gate. Activation of the safety edge causes the immediate stop of gate operation and a brief 2-second reversal. Following this,
the unit places itself in STOP, disables automatic closing, if set, and waits for an OPEN command to resume normal operation.
The status of this input is indicated by the “COSTA” LED.
More than one safety edge must be connected in series.
If safety edges are not used, these two terminals must be jumpered, the “COSTA” LED must be on.
5.1.4. stOp
Terminals “STOP & COM2”. Normally closed contact. To these terminals, connect any pulse generator (e.g. button, key switch,
etc..) which, by opening the contact, must command the immediate stop of the gate disabling all automatic functions.
Only an OPEN pulse will cause the gate to resume the normally programmed cycle. The status of this input is indicated by the
STOP” LED.
More than one pulse generator must be connected in series.
If STOP devices are not used, these two terminals must be jumpered, the “STOP” LED must be on.
5.1.5. ClOsing phOtOCells FsW Cl (Fig. 4)
Terminals “FSW CL & COM2”. Normally closed contact. To this contact, connect any photocells that must work during the gate
closing motion. For information on how the photocells connected to this input work, see paragraph 13 (Operation Logics). The
status of this input is indicated by the “FSW CL” LED.

Terminals “ FSW OP & COM2”. Normally closed contact. To this contact, connect any photocells that must work during the gate
opening motion. For information on how the photocells connected to this input work, see paragraph 13 (Operation Logics).
The status of this input is indicated by the “FSW OP” LED.
The opening photocells must be positioned so as to protect the gate opening area, see Fig. 3.

5.1.7. Opening And ClOsing phOtOCells (Fig. 6)
By making the connection shown in figure 5, it is possible to connect photocells that are active both during closing and opening
of the gate. For information on how the photocells work, see paragraph 13 (Operation Logics). Activation of this photocell
causes both the “FSW CL” and “FSW OP” LEDs to go off.
Photocells having the same function must be connected in series.
If the photocells are not used, it is necessary to connect the unused inputs to terminal COM2(see Fig. 7). The corresponding
LED must be on.
The max number of photocells that can be connected to the unit depends on the load of the accessories connected to
the terminals “+24V & -24V”, which must not exceed 300 mA.
5.2. TERMINAL BOARD M2 (Fig. 8)
This terminal board is for connecting the motor control encoder. The encoder is active both during gate opening and closing
and works as follows:
When opening: When an obstacle is detected, the unit immediately stops movement of the gate and performs a brief movement
in reverse. Later it will place itself in STOP and disables automatic re-closing. The display will briefly read

indicating that the encoder is being used during the opening phase. To resume normal operation it is
necessary to send the unit an OPEN A or OPEN B command. Once it receives the pulse, the automatic system
will resume normally programmed operation and will close until it reaches the closing limit switch.
When closing: When an obstacle is detected, the unit immediately stops movement of the gate and performs a brief movement
in reverse. Later it will place itself in STOP. The display will briefly read

indicating that the encoder
is being used during the closing phase. To resume normal operation it is necessary to send the unit an OPEN
B oror OPEN B command. Once it receives the pulse, the automatic system will resume normally programmed
operation and will open the gate completely.
If the obstacle is detected 4 consecutive times (the obstacle has not been removed) the unit will place itself in STOP
without reversing. At the next OPEN A or OPEN B command, the unit will realign slowly in order to memorise a new
end-of-travel position. During realignment operations the display will read “
EM
”.
To correctly connect the encoder, follow the table below:

For correct operation of the unit, use of the encoder is required.
5.3. CONNECTOR JP1
This connector is for connecting the operator opening and closing limit switch.
The connector can be inserted only in one direction, therefore do not try forcing it.
For correct operation of the unit, both limit switches must be present.
5.4. TERMINAL BOARD M3 (Fig. 9)

Terminals “SP/LC & COM”. 24V max 15W output. To these terminals it is possible to connect an indicator lamp or an indicator
for remote signalling of the status of the gate. This output is enabled by setting the parameter “G”, see paragraph 9.
The COM terminal is the negative pole
Do not exceed the max load of 15W.
5.4.2. FlAshing lAmp
Terminals “LAMP & COM”. These terminals are for connecting the flashing light with 24V power and max 15W power. During
the unit programming phase, the flashing light stays on fixed.
Use a fixed light flashing light: flashing is controlled by the control unit.
The COM terminal is the negative pole.
5.4.3. mOtOr
Terminals “CHM1 & APM1”. These terminals are for connecting the motor power supply cables.
Depending on the cable connection sequence, the gate will close to the right or the left with respect to the motor.
5.5. TERMINAL BOARD M4 (Fig. 10)

Terminal -TST”. This terminal is for connecting the photocell power supply negative pole. With this connection and enabling
the parameter “S(see paragraph 9), before every manoeuvre the unit will perform an operation test of the corresponding

Before closing, it will perform an operation test of the closing photocells, connected to the input “FSW CL”.
Before opening, it will perform an operation test of the opening photocells, connected to the input “FSW OP”.
To connect the photocells, with Failsafe enabled, see figures 3, 4 and 5.
If you do not wish to use the Failsafe function, it must be disabled using the parameter “

”, and the photocells negative
power supply must be connected to the terminal “-24V”.
5.5.2. BAttery pOWer (BAtteries nOt supplied)
Terminals “ +BAT & -BAT”. ”. These terminals are for connecting the wires coming from the buffer batteries, if used (not supplied).
Use of the buffer batteries makes it possible to make up for electrical power interruptions. During normal operation, the unit, thanks
to the built-in battery charging circuit, keeps the batteries charged. These start working when electrical power is interrupted.
Using the parameter ”, see paragraph 9 - it is possible to select how the automated system should behave if mains power
is interrupted.
The number of cycles that can be performed by the unit using buffer batteries depends directly on the battery charge,
the amount of time that has elapsed since the power was interrupted, the type and number of connected accessories
and the type of gate.
For the type of batteries that can be used, please refer to the automatic system’s instructions.
During battery connection, pay attention to the polarity of the terminals.
Operation of the automatic system using only buffer batteries should be considered an emergency situation.
If batteries are used from a remote position, and not on board the machine, the housing the remote batteries are installed
in must feature a hole, as provided for by the regulations in force, to avoid a build-up of potentially explosive gases
inside the housing.
5.5.3. ACCessOries pOWer supply 24V
Terminals “+24V & -24V”. Use these terminals for powering external accessories.
The maximum load that can be applied to these terminals is 300 mA.
The output of these terminals is direct current; pay attention to the polarity of the accessories power supply.
5.6. TERMINAL BOARD M5 (Fig. 11)
5.6.1. mAins pOWer supply
Terminals ,N & F”. These terminals are for connecting the mains line power cable to the 115/230 V~. The earthing cable
coming from the power supply line must be connected to the provided terminal on the body of the gearmotor (see the related
instructions). This connection is required for correct operation of the unit.
6. INSERTING THE RECEIVER BOARD
The unit is designed to house a 5-pin radio receiver, which must be connected to the provided connector “JP2”.
To connect the receiver board it is necessary to remove the cover on the unit, following the procedure below:
Remove the two fixing screws located at the top of the cover, see Fig. 12 ref. a.
Remove the bottom cover, Fig. 12 ref. b.
Remove the cover paying attention not to damage the two hooks at the bottom of the bracket, Fig. 13 ref. a.
Insert the board in the direction shown in Fig. 14.
Replace the cover first by inserting the two bottom hooks and then securing everything using the two top screws.
The receiver board can be inserted only in one position, therefore do not try forcing it.
In order to avoid irreparably damaging the receiver board, insertion and removal must be done only after cutting off
system power.
The unit cover features a cable runner for passage of a series of cables. This must be used to connect an external antenna,
if used, and the OPEN B command by means of radio command (only with two-channel receivers)
7. CONTROL LEDs
The unit features 6 control LEDs, which give constant indication of the status of the STOP input, the safeties connected to the
unit and the limit switches. The table below describes the meanings of the various LEDs.

8. DISPLAY OPERATION
The control unit features a large backlit display for displaying and programming the various operating parameters of the
automated system. Also, during normal system operation, it constantly displays the status of the automated system. The table
that follows describes the meaning of all the indications provided by the display during normal operation:

The operating parameters and their settings are shown on the unit display using two characters, a letter - lower case or upper
case - and a number. The letter identifies the operating parameter that is being modified and the number indicates the set

9.1. RESETTING THE ASSISTANCE REQUEST CYCLE NUMBER
Once the set number of cycles is reached, it is necessary to manually reset the counter, following the procedure below:
Go to the operating parameter phase (see paragraph 9).
Scroll through all the parameters until you reach the number of cycles.
Press and hold P1 and P2 for approximately 10 seconds.
When the display reads “
00
” deletion is complete.
Press P2 again or wait 60 seconds to return to normal automated system operation.
10. POSITIONING THE LIMIT SWITCH MAGNETS (only with magnetic limit switch)
Sliding gearmotors use, as a limit switch, a magnetic sensor that works combined with two magnets positioned on the gate
rack. The two magnets are duly polarised and activate only one contact, either the closing limit switch or the opening limit
switch. The magnet that activates the opening limit switch displays an open padlock icon, while the one that activates the
closing limit switch contact displays a closed padlock icon. For correct operation of the unit, the magnet with the open padlock
must be positioned by the gate opening edge, vice versa the magnet with the closed padlock must be by the gate closing
edge. See Fig. 15.
11. PROGRAMMING
Never program the unit when it is powered using only the batteries.
The first time that the unit is started, the programming procedure must be completed in order to memorise the desired operating
function. To program, follow the procedure below:

Manually position the gate approximately half way from the desired opening.
Power the system and check that the control LEDs correspond to the description contained in paragraph 7.
Press and hold P2 until the first parameter is displayed.
Send an OPEN A pulse by activating any device connected to this input. The unit will go into programming mode and
the display will read “Pr”.Pr”.”.
The automated system will begin a closing manoeuvre until it reaches the closing limit switch.
If the first manoeuvre that the automated system performs is opening, stop movement of the gate by pressing RESET. Cut
off the system power, reverse the cables connected to the terminals CHM1 and APM1, and resume from step 1 .
Once the closing position has been reached, the automated system begins an opening phase until it reaches the
opening limit switch.
Once it reaches the opening limit switch, the unit will begin counting the pause time. The elapsed time is shown on the
display expressed in seconds.
Once the desired pause time has elapsed, if an OPEN A command is given, the gate will start the closing phase.
Once the closing limit switch has been reached, the unit exits programming mode and, for a fraction of a second, the
display will read the software revision and then “

For the entire duration of the programming phase, the unit will read “

The entire programming procedure is performed at slow speed.
For the best results of the programming phase, we recommend that, during programming, no safeties (e.g. photocells)
connected to the unit, are engaged.
12. PARTICULAR SITUATIONS
Following a RESET command or when mains power is restored (without the buffer batteries), the automated system will behave
as follows:
Gate closed: The gate will resume normal operation, the gate is on the closing limit switch and therefore recognises the
position.
Gate open: The gate resumes normal operation on the basis of the selected logic (with automatic re-closing, the pause time
count starts and then closes, vice versa it will wait for an OPEN A or OPEN B command before re-closing), the gate
is on the opening limit switch and therefore recognises the position.
Gate statio nary in any position (excluding the above-described cases): at the first OPEN pulse (OPEN A or OPEN B) the gate
will perform the opening phase in slow mode. Once it has reached the opening limit switch, the resetting cycle will
be complete and, depending on the selected operating mode, it either re-closes after a pause time or remains
waiting for an OPEN A or OPEN B pulse to close the gate.
For the entire duration of the resetting manoeuvre, the unit disables all the connected pulse generators, keeping only the
safeties enabled. Once the resetting phase has been completed, normal operating conditions are restored.

14. DISPOSAL
The trash container symbol shown on the product label, on the product or in the instructions indicates that
the product, at the end of its life, must be disposed of separately from other waste products.
The user must therefore bring the equipment that has reached the end of its life to an authorised electri-
cal and electronic waste disposal centre, or return it to the dealer when new equivalent equipment is
purchased, on a one-to-one basis.
Proper separate collection for the recycling, treatment or compatible environmental disposal of the
equipment no longer in use contributes to avoiding negative effects on the environment and health and
favours reuse and/or recycling of the materials with which the equipment is made.
Unlawful disposal of the product by the user is subject to fines provided for by the regulations in force.
