Please observe the prescribed safety instructions and stipulations from the
vehicle manufacturer and service workshops.
The manufacturer will not be held liable for claims for damage resulting from the
following:
z Damage to the product resulting from mechanical influences and excess voltage
z Alterations to the product without express permission from the manufacturer
z Use for purposes other than those described in the operating manual
3 Scope of delivery
4 Intended use
The MagicSafe ABL100 emergency brake light (item no. 9101600006) is a
supplement for the brake light of your vehicle.
If the brakes are applied with full force, all brake lights are set to flash at a certain
frequency.
The MagicSafe ABL100 is suitable for installing in passenger cars, caravans and
vans with an approved overall weight of up to 3.5 t.
The vehicles may have a maximum of three brake lights.

NOTE
If you do not have sufficient technical knowledge for installing and
connecting the components in vehicles, you should have a specialist install
the emergency brake light in your vehicle.
Your vehicle must have a 12 V operating voltage so that you can connect the
emergency brake light.

Check whether your vehicle is equipped with a CAN bus:
With a CAN bus: proceed according to fig. 3 to fig. 8
Without a CAN bus: proceed according to fig. 9 to fig. d

Select the installation location for the control unit (1):
With a CAN bus: in the boot in the vicinity of the brake lights
Without a CAN bus: in the vicinity of the brake pedal
Not in areas where strong electrical fields could cause interference, e. g.
ignition cables or central control electronics
Not directly next to other control units in order to prevent them interfering
with each other (this can result in malfunctions)
Not directly next to ventilator nozzles.

Connect the red wires of the ABL100 to the third brake light.
If your vehicle is equipped with a trailer coupling:
Connect the trailer coupling’s brake light cable to the ABL 100.
Note that the trailer coupling’s brake light cable is connected either to the left or
to the right brake light.
Supplementary to fig. b
Insulate the two blue/black wires as well as the two black wires.
If your vehicle is equipped with a trailer coupling:
Connect the trailer coupling’s brake light cable to the ABL 100.
Travel speed signal
The black/yellow wire can be connected to the speedometer signal of the vehicle.
This is not necessary for vehicles registered in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Press down the brake pedal for 5 s.
The system calibrates itself automatically.
Test the system by pressing down the brake pedal again.
The green LED of the control unit displays the system condition:
The LED glows: the system has been set correctly.
The LED flashes: the system has not been set correctly.
If the system has not been set correctly:
Unscrew the control unit.
Press the brake pedal and hold it down.
With the wires attached, turn the control unit 180° around its own axis.
The calibration is deleted.
The LED goes out.
Release the brake pedal.
Turn the control unit over again.
Fasten it in place again.
Repeat the calibration.
9 Maintaining and cleaning the ABL100

Do not use sharp or hard objects to clean the device as these may damage
the components.
10 Guarantee
The statutory warranty period applies. If the product is defective, please contact the
manufacturer's branch in your country (see the back of the instruction manual for the
addresses) or your retailer.
For repair and guarantee processing, please send the following items:
z Defect components
z A copy of the receipt with purchasing date
z A reason for the claim or description of the fault

Place the packaging material in the appropriate recycling waste bins wherever
possible.

If you wish to finally dispose of the product, ask your local recycling centre
or specialist dealer for details about how to do this in accordance with the
applicable disposal regulations.

The device has a general operating licence for Germany. For emergency braking
signals, it conforms to directive ECE R13 and is based on directive ECE R48.
The E8 mark refers to approval regarding electromagnetic compatibility.
