TIPS FOR THE USER
During and immediately after use
some parts of the hob can reach
very high temperatures. Do not
touch them.
Keep children away when the hob
is in use.
After using the hob make sure
that the knob is turned off and
turn off the main tap of the gas
supply pipe or the cylinder tap.
When you are not using the hob
it is a good idea to turn off the
gas supply tap.
Regular lubrication of the gas
taps must only be performed by
specialised engineers. If the gas
taps are not working properly call
the After-Sales Service.
These instructions are only valid
for those countries whose identifi-
cation symbol appears on the cover
of the instruction booklet and on
the appliance.

GAS BURNERS
USE OF THE HOB
The flow of gas to the burners is adju-
sted by the knobs of Fig. 2 which control
the safety closure taps.
Line up the needle of the knob with the
symbols printed on the panel:
full disc
= tap closed
symbol = max. opening or
max. flow
symbol = min. opening or
min. flow
To light one of the burners, bring a
flame close to the upper part of the
burner, then press and turn the
corresponding knob anticlockwise
until the symbol representing a large
flame (max flow) lines up with the
panel reference.
For reduced flow, turn the knob
further until it stops at the symbol
representing the maximum flame.
Use the maximum flow to bring liquids
to the boil quickly and the reduced
flow to heat foods slowly or for
simmering.
All the operating positions must be
chosen between the maximum and
minimum positions and never
between the maximum position and
off.

These models can be identified by the
symbol near the flame position symbol
(Fig. 3). To light one of the burners,
press and turn the corresponding knob
to the maximum flow position (large
flame) and keep the knob pressed down
until the gas is lit.
Turn the gas tap to the position required.
Whenever special conditions of the gas
supplied locally make it difficult to light
the burner with the knob in the maxi-
mum flow position, repeat the operation
with the knob in the minimum flow posi-
tion.

CHOICE OF BURNER
The symbols printed on the panel by the
side of the knob indicate the correspon-
dence between knob and burner.
Choose the suitable burner depending
on the cookware diameter and capacity.
The pan diameter should be suitable for
the burner power to make the most of
the burner's high efficiency and not
waste fuel.
A small pan does not boil more quickly
on the large burner.
Attention: During use the hob
becomes very hot under the
cooking zones.
Keep children away.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
BURNERS AND GRIDS
These pieces can be removed and
washed with suitable products.
After cleaning burners and spreaders
dry them well and replace them
correctly.
In appliances with electric ignition
keep the electrode clean so that the
sparks always strike.
Note: To avoid damage to the electric
ignition do not use it when the burners
are not in place.
GENERAL TIPS
Before cleaning the hob switch it
off and wait for it to cool down.
Clean with a cloth wetted with hot
water and soap or water and liquid
detergent.
Do not use products which are
abrasive, corrosive or chlorine based
or steel pads.
Do not leave acid or alkaline
substances (vinegar, salt, lemon
juice, etc.) on the hob.
ENAMELLED PARTS
All the enamelled parts must be
washed only with a sponge with
soapy water or other non-abrasive
products.
Dry carefully.
STAINLESS STEEL HOB
Clean with special products which
are available on the market.
Clean preferably with chamois
leather.
Note: regular use could cause
discolouring around the burners,
because of the high flame
temperature.
GAS TAPS
Regular lubrication of the gas taps
must only be performed by specialised
engineers.
If the gas taps are not working
properly call the After-Sales Service
HOBS WITH GLASS COVER
Do not close the glass cover when the
burners or electric hot plate are still
hot and when the oven under the hob
(if installed) is on or still hot.
Do not place pans or heavy objects
on the cover.
Dry any liquid spilt on the cover
before opening it.

CORRECT POSITIONING OF THE
BURNERS
It is very important to check that sprea-
der F and cap C of the burner (see Figs
5 - 6) are perfectly in place because if
they move out of place serious problems
could arise.
Make sure that electrode "S" (Fig. 6) is
kept clean so that the sparks always
strike.

TIPS FOR INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT
The hob should only be installed by a
qualified installer.
Failure to observe this rule leads to
cancellation of the guarantee.
The appliance must be installed cor-
rectly, in compliance with the regula-
tions in force and following the manu-
facturer's instructions.
Any operation must be performed with
the appliance switched off.
These appliances have been
designed and manufactured to be
fitted into heat-resistant units.
These hobs are designed to be fit-
ted into 600 mm deep kitchen
units.
The unit walls must not be higher
that the working surface and must
withstand a temperature of 75°C
more than room temperature.
Avoid installation near inflammable
materials (e.g. curtains).

To fit the hob into the unit make an ope-
ning of the dimensions given in Figure 7,
remembering that:
Inside the unit there must be a space
of at least 30 mm between the bottom
of the hob and the top of a shelf.
Any wall to the side and above the
hob must be at least 100 mm away
(Fig. 7).
The wall behind the hob must be at
least 35 mm away (Fig. 7).
When there is a wall unit or hood
above the hob there must be at least
650 mm between the hob and the unit
or hood (see also Fig. 8).
When the hob is installed without an
oven, a distance piece must be used
between the bottom of the hob and
the unit where it is being fitted.
If an oven and hob are being installed
(which is thus possible) the distance
between the two appliances must be
at least 30 mm. Work downstream of
the gas mains independent connec-
tions.

INSTALLATION ON UNITS WITH
DOORS (fig. 9)
The unit must be so constructed that the
pressure and depressure caused by clo-
sing and opening, even violent, of the
doors does not cause the burners, set
both to the minimum and the maximum,
to go out.
Leave a depression space of 30 mm
between the bottom of the hob and the
top of the unit (Fig. 9).

MOUNTING THE FASTENING TABS
(fig. 10)
Each hob is supplied with a set of tabs
and screws to fasten it to units from 2
to 4 cm thick.
Turn the hob over and put tabs "A" into
the mountings; only tighten screws "B"
a few turns.
Make sure that the tabs are mounted
correctly as shown in Figure 10.
FASTENING THE HOB (fig. 10)
Stretch gasket "C" above the unit
along the edge of the hole made,
being careful to overlay the joining
edges.
Put the hob into the hole cut into the
unit and position it correctly.
Put tabs "A" into place and tighten
screws "B" until the hob is completely
secured.
Using a sharp tool cut off the part of
the gasket which sticks out from the
hob.

INSTALLATION ROOM
The room where the gas appliance is to
be installed must have a natural flow of
air so that the gas can burn.
The flow of air must come directly from
one or more openings made in the outsi-
de walls with a free area of at least 100
cm
2
.
If the appliance does not have a no-
flame safety device this opening must
have an area of at least 200 cm
2
.
The openings should be near the floor
and preferably on the side opposite the
exhaust for combustion products and
must be so made that they cannot be
blocked from either the outside or the
outside.
When these openings cannot be made
the necessary air can come from an
adjacent room which is ventilated as
required, as long as it is not a bedroom
or a dangerous area.
In this case the kitchen door must allow
the passage of the air.

DISCHARGE OF THE COMBUSTION
PRODUCTS
The gas appliance combustion products
must be discharged through a hood con-
nected directly to the outside (Fig. 11).
When this is not possible an electric fan
can be used, fitted on the outside wall or
the window, with output which guaran-
tees a daily exchange of air of 3-5 times
the volume of the kitchen (Fig. 12).
The fan can only be installed if there are
air inlet openings as described in the
"Installation room" section.

Connection to the gas mains

The gas connection must be made in
compliance with the local regulations in
force.
Be careful when flexible metal pipes are
used that they do not come into contact
with moving parts or can be nipped.
To maintain the thickness of 3 cm, the
hob is fitted with a channel to contain the
connection pipe.
The gas inlet union can be turned in the
direction required after the union C - nip-
ple A connection has been slackened
with two spanners (Fig. 14).
Never put it in the horizontal or vertical
position.

TYPES OF GAS
The hob is set up and calibrated for
use with gas "G25 at the pressure of
25 mbar".

IMPORTANT:
Never attempt to turn the fitting C
without having first slackened off
the relative lock nut (fig. 14).
The seal F (fig. 13) is the element
that guarantees the seal in the
pipe-ramp connector.
It is recommended that it be
replaced whenever it shows even
the slightest deformation or imper-
fection.
After connecting to the mains,
check that the couplings are cor-
rectly sealed, using soapy solution,
but never a naked flame.

REPLACING THE BURNER INJECTORS
Injectors can be obtained from the After-
Sales Service Centres.
Choose the injectors to be replaced
according to the table below. The injector
diameter, expressed in hundredths of a
millimetre, is marked on the injector
body.
To replace the injectors proceed as fol-
lows:
Remove the grids and burner covers,
pull off the knobs and any ignition
push-button
Using a box wrench replace nozzles
"J" (Fig. 15) with nozzles which are
suitable for the gas being used.

ADJUSTING THE GAS BURNER
MINIMUM
For taps with adjusting screw inside
the shaft (fig. 16):
using a screwdriver max. diameter 3
mm turn the screw inside the tap shaft
until the setting is correct.
For taps with adjusting screw on the
body (fig. 17):
using a screwdriver turn screw "A" until
the setting is correct.
in the models with ignition incorporat-
ed in the knob access to screw "A" is
via a hole of the microswitch.
LUBRICATING THE GAS TAP
If a gas tap is difficult to turn, disassem-
ble it, clean it carefully with petrol and
spread a little high-temperature-resistant
grease on it.
These operations must be performed by
a specialised engineer.

The appliance must be connected to
the earth.
The manufacturer declines all respon-
sibility for any problem caused by fai-
lure to observe this rule.
ELECTRICAL PART
IMPORTANT: The installation must
be made following the manufactu-
rer's instructions.
Incorrect installation can cause
damage to people, animals or things,
for which the manufacturer cannot be
considered responsible.
CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRICAL
MAINS - Only model
FGZ 3400 IN/01
The appliance must be connected to
the electrical mains by a qualified elec-
trician according to the rules in force.
The appliance must be connected to
the mains checking first of all that the
voltage corresponds to the value given
on the rating plate and that the section
of the electrical cables can take the
load indicated on the rating plate.
The two-pole plug must be put into a
socket connected to the earth system
in compliance with safety rules.
If the appliance is supplied without
plug, fit a standard plug which is suita-
ble for the power consumed by the
appliance.
The connection can be made directly
to the mains by putting an all-pole
switch with minimum opening between
the contacts of 3 mm between the
appliance and the mains.
The supply cable must not touch hot
parts and must be so positioned that it
does not exceed the temperature of
75°C at any point.
When the appliance is installed the
switch or socket must always be
accessible.
N.B. For connection to the mains do
not use adapters, reducers or
shunts because these can cause
overheating or burning.
If the installation requires modifications to
the domestic electrical system or if the
socket and the appliance plug are not
compatible, contact a professional electri-
cian. He must, in particular, also make
sure that the section of the socket cables
is suitable for the power absorbed by the
appliance.
If the hob surface is cracked discon-
nect the appliance from the mains.
