Class-top dust collecting performance
Each of the Models CM 5SB, CM 9SR and CM 9UBY is equipped with a high-performance dust collection
cover as a standard accessory. Following is a comparison data on dust collection rate when the cutting
depth is 10 mm. The dust collection rate of the Models CM 9SR and CM 9UBY is 4% higher than that of C,
and the Model CM 5SB is 10% higher than that of C.
High stability with wider base (For the Models CM 9SR/CM 9UBY)
Each base of the Models CM 9SR and CM 9UBY is
1.3 times wider than that of C for more stable cutting
operation.

Each of the Models CM 9SR and CM 9UBY is
equipped with a pocket guide at the tip of the base.
The movable pocket guide is retracted in the base as
cutting proceeds. The pocket guide prevents dust from
scattering to the outside at the start of cutting for more
efficient dust collection.

In the interest of promoting the safest and most efficient use of the Models CM 5SB, CM 9SR and CM9UBY
Cutters by all of our customers, it is very important that at the time of sale, the salesperson carefully
ensures that the buyer seriously recognizes the importance of the contents of the Handling Instructions,
and fully understands the meaning of the precautions listed on the Name Plate.
A. Handling instructions
Although every effort is made in each step of design, manufacture and inspection to provide protection
against safety hazards, the dangers inherent in the use of any electric power tool cannot be completely
eliminated. Accordingly, general precautions and suggestions for the use of electric power tools, and
specific precautions and suggestions for the use of the Cutters are listed in the Handling Instructions to
enhance the safe and efficient use of the tool by the customer.
Salespersons must be thoroughly familiar with the contents of the Handling Instructions to be able to offer
appropriate guidance to the customer during sales promotion.
B. Caution on name plate
Each tool is provided with a Name Plate which contains the following basic safety precautions in the use of
the tool.
(1) For Europe
(2) For the U.S.A. and Canada (Model CM 5SB)
C. Precautions on usage
Never press the pushing button while the diamond wheel is rotating.
If the pushing button is pressed while the diamond wheel is rotating, the spindle will stop immediately.
In such a case, there is a danger that the wheel nut may be loosened so that the diamond wheel flies off
unexpectedly to cause possible serious injury.
PRECAUTIONS IN SALES PROMOTION

Always use guards and wear eye protection.
Use only accessories rated at least 12000/min.

Before attempting disassembly or reassembly, ensure without fail that the switch is turned off and the plug
is disconnected from the power source outlet.
1. Precautions in disassembly and reassembly
The [Bold] numbers in the description below correspond to the item numbers in the Parts Lists and the
exploded assembly diagrams for the Models CM 5SB, CM 9SR and CM 9UBY.
The main bodies of the Models CM 5SB, CM 9SR and CM 9UBY are common to those of the base Models
G 13SB3, G 23SR and G 23UBY respectively. Therefore, only the disassembly and reassembly procedures
of the newly designed dust collection cover unit are described below.
A. Dust Collection Aadapter Ass’y [65] (Model CM 5SB)
(1) Loosen the Knob Bolt M5 [66] and remove Cover
(A) [38].
(2) Loosen the Wheel Nut 5/8”-11UNC [37] using the
attached Wrench [502]. Remove the diamond
wheel and the Wheel Washer [30] together from
the Spindle [29].
(3) Loosen the two Machine Screws (W/Sp. Washer)
M5 x 16 (Black) [32] and remove the Dust
Collection Adapter Ass’y [65] (Dust Collector
Cover (A) [34]) from the Packing Gland [26].
(4) Loosen the Wing Nut M6 [41] and remove the
Sleeve [40], Bolt (Square) M6 x 20 [35] and Slide
Guide (A) [36] from Dust Collector Cover (A) [34].

B. Dust Cover Ass’y [88] (Model CM 9SR) [92] (Model CM 9UBY]
The [Bold] numbers and the circled numbers in the descriptions below correspond to the item numbers in
the Parts List and the exploded assembly diagram of the Model CM 9SR. (The dust cover ass'y is common
to that of the Model CM 9UBY.)
(1) Loosen the Wing Nut M6 [48] and lower the
Base [68] in “G” direction.
(2) Loosen the two Knob Nuts [37] and remove
Cover (B) [35].
(3) Loosen the two Wheel Nuts M14 x 2 [59]
using the attached Wrench [502] and remove
the diamond wheel and Wheel Washer (A)
[58] together from the Spindle [13].
(4) Open the Lever [52] and loosen the Bolt
M8 x 22 [53] to remove the Dust Cover Ass’y
[88] (Wheel Guard Ass’y [56]) from the
Packing Gland [15].
(5) Loosen the two Wing Nuts M6 [48] and
remove the two Bolts (Square) M6 x 57 [41]
and the Sleeve [47] from the Wheel Guard
Ass’y [56].
(6) Remove the Hose Band [33] from the Dust
Duct [34] to remove the Adapter [38].
(7) Loosen the U-Nut (B) M8 [93]. Remove Bolt
(A) [57] from the Holder [61] to remove the
Wheel Guard Ass’y [56], Cover (A) [60] and
Dust Duct [34].
(8) Remove the eight Retaining Rings (E-Type)
for D7 Shaft [64] to remove the two Roller
Shafts [66] from the Base [68]. At this time,
remove the four Rollers [65], Holder [61] and
Pocket Guide
[63] together.
Reassembly can be accomplished by following the disassembly procedure in reverse.
Refer to each TECHNICAL DATA AND SERVICE MANUAL of the base Models G 13SB3 (List No. E271),
G 23SR (List No. E273) and G 23UBY (List No. E282) for precautions in disassembly and reassembly,
lubrication points and types and amounts of lubricant, tightening torque, and wiring diagram.
