ESET HOME features

ESET HOME connects multiple features to help you navigate and get the most out of your ESET products for

homes.

ESET HOME provides the following features and applications:

Device management

Device management enables you to access information about devices with ESET products connected to your ESET

HOME account or computers activated by licenses managed by your account, as well as to deactivate your ESET

product on a device.

License management

License management enables you to see essential information regarding each license, the license status, the

license expiration date, the number of activated devices, and, if applicable, license overuse or expired license

warnings. You can also share a license with other users.

ESET Anti-Theft

ESET Anti-Theft is a specialized feature of ESET security products for home users. ESET Anti-Theft uses

technologies such as geographical IP address lookup, web camera image capture, user account protection, and

device monitoring. These features may help you and law enforcement organizations locate your laptop or mobile

device if ever lost or stolen. ESET Anti-Theft connects your ESET product with the ESET HOME portal to let you see

the activity taking place on your computer or mobile device in a web browser on any device, making it easier to

track down your device.

ESET Anti-Theft is not available as a standalone application but as a feature in the following products:

• ESET Smart Security Premium (Windows)

• ESET Internet Security (Windows)

• ESET Mobile Security (Android)

ESET Parental Control

ESET Parental Control web service works in addition to the ESET Parental Control application that protects

children from threats on their smartphones and tablets. The application is a standalone Android application

completely integrated with ESET HOME so that parents can monitor and adjust their child's online activity, not

just from the ESET Parental Control application but also any web browser by signing in to their ESET HOME

account.

ESET Password Manager

ESET Password Manager is a part of the ESET Smart Security Premium package. This feature protects and stores

your passwords and personal data and includes a form completion feature that saves time by completing web

forms automatically and accurately. You can also add a password store to your email or your family and friend's

emails. ESET Password Manager handles all your added password stores.

ESET Password Manager is available as an application for iOS and Android systems and as a browser extension.

App settings

Tap the main menu button > App settings, to adjust your app language and push notifications.

App language – There are 40 languages available for the app. Select the app display language here.

Receive push notifications – Enable or disable brief messages and alerts (related to your licenses and devices) to

be sent through the ESET HOME app to your device.

Getting started

By creating the ESET HOME account, you can get an overview and manage your licenses and connected device

protections. ESET HOME also provides multiple features, such as ESET Parental Control, to protect your children

from threats on their smartphones and tablets; ESET Password Manager, to protect and store your passwords and

personal data; and ESET Anti-Theft, to locate your laptop or mobile device if ever lost or stolen. Read ESET HOME

features for more information.

After creating your ESET HOME account, add the license and protect your devices. On the ESET HOME home

screen, click Get started and continue according to your preferences below:

Add a license and download protection

1. Select Add a license & download protection, and click Continue.

2. Type your License Key and click Add license. If you do not have a license yet, go back and choose

Purchase a license or get a free trial by clicking Try protection for free.

3. Now that your license is active, you can:

a)Add another license using the process in step 2.

b)Protect device—Download the ESET product directly from ESET HOME and connect your device to

the ESET HOME account to view and manage all features. You can protect your current/other device

or share the protection with your family by following the instructions below:

Important

You can only connect Android and Windows devices to your ESET HOME account.

Protect this device—Download the ESET product installer to the device you are currently on and activate the

ESET product.

4. To download the installer on the current device, click Protect this device and click Continue. If you do

not have license units available, remove some devices, purchase a new license or increase your existing

license capacity.

Important

When your license is expired, click Renew or add a new license by clicking Already have a renewed

or new license?

5. Choose a license, and click Continue. If you protect an Android device, you will be redirected to Google

Play store to download the latest version of ESET Mobile Security or directly to the ESET Mobile Security

application if you already have downloaded it. After ESET Mobile Security activation, your device will be

connected to your ESET HOME account automatically.

Note

For Android device, also the free version of ESET Mobile Security is available.

6. Click Download protection.

Important

When downloading macOS protection, the License Key is displayed in the third step on the screen.

Enter the License Key in the installer during the product activation.

7. Click Got it.

8. Open the downloaded installer and activate the ESET product.

Protect another device

Get protection via email —Send the ESET product installer to activate protection on your other devices.

4. Select Get software installer via email, and click Continue.

5. Choose an operating system listed below, and click Continue. You will see the ESET product with the

operating system you want to protect.

Note

If you do not have an eligible license to protect the desired operating system, purchase a new

license and add it to your ESET HOME account.

• Windows—Send an installer that guides you through the ESET Windows home product installation.

• macOS—Choose a language and send ESET Cyber Security Pro or ESET Cyber Security protection. The

downloaded product depends on your license type.

• Android—Send the download link to the Android device. The link redirects you to the Google Play store

to download the latest version of ESET Mobile Security or directly to the ESET Mobile Security app if you

already have downloaded it.

6. Type an email address you can access on the device you want to protect.

7. Click Send protection, and protection will be sent to the entered email address.

8. Download the installer from the received email and activate the ESET product by following the installer's

instructions.

Important

When sending macOS protection, the License Key is displayed in the third step on the screen. Enter

the License Key in the installer during the product activation.

9. Click Got it.

10. After successful activation of the ESET product on your Windows or macOS device, connect the device

to your ESET HOME account. After ESET Mobile Security activation, your device will be automatically

connected to your ESET HOME account.

Share ESET protection—Share your license with a family member or a friend. Only devices with Windows

OS and macOS can be shared.

If your license is not overused and you have a free license seat, you can share a license with a family

member or a friend.

4. Select Share ESET protection with a friend, and click Continue.

5. Choose the license, and click Continue.

Note

You can only share a license with one or more free license units. To free up license units, remove

devices you no longer use.

6. Using the + and - buttons, choose the number of devices you would like to protect.

7. Type the email address to whom you want to send protection and click Share protection.

8. Click Got it.

Purchase a license

After selecting Purchase a license, click Continue, and you will be redirected to the ESET eStore, where you can

purchase the license. Then log in to your ESET HOME account to protect your device.

Download trial protection for free

1. Select Download a free trial, and click Continue.

2. Select the device's operating system you want to protect, and click Continue.

3. Click:

a)Download protection—The installer will be downloaded to protect your current device.

b)Send email—The protection will be sent to the entered email address.

Requirements and limitations

ESET HOME web portal and applications for Android and iOS are only available from a specific software version, as

shown in the table below.

License limitations

The number of licenses per one account is limited to 10 licenses.

If you want to manage a higher number of licenses and devices, ESET recommends switching to ESET

business products and using ESET Business Account for license management.

I forgot my ESET HOME password

Looking for information about common password-related issues?

• My Username, Password, or License Key is not working

• Unlock your settings password in ESET Windows home products

I cannot find my ESET HOME account credentials

1. Visit ESET HOME.

2. Type the email address you registered into the ESET HOME in the Email address field.

3. Click Send.

4. After you click Send, an email containing a link to your account and instructions on resetting the password

for your ESET HOME account are sent to the email address you supplied.

5. Log in to your email account and open the Account password change request - ESET HOME email.

6. Follow the instructions in the email. You are redirected back to ESET HOME.

7. To set up a new password, type your desired password into the Enter new password and Confirm new

password fields and click Confirm change.

I need to retrieve my password from the application

1. Open the ESET HOME application.

2. Tap Log in.

3. Tap I forgot my password.

4. Type the email address that you registered into the ESET HOME in the Email field.

5. Log in to your email account and open the Account password change request - ESET HOME email.

6. Follow the instructions in the email. You are redirected back to ESET HOME.

7. To set up a new password, type your desired password into the Enter new password and Confirm new

password fields and click Confirm change.

I have not received an email with instructions for resetting my password

In this case, try one of the following until you receive the instructions:

1. Ensure that you typed the corresponding email address you entered during the ESET HOME registration

process or the activation of the ESET Anti-Theft feature. The ESET HOME web interface does not tell you

whether the email address you typed into the system is the correct one due to security reasons.

2. Look for:

• Spam or Junk folder in your email account.

• Any other secondary inbox folders. Mark [email protected] as a safe address in your email client.

• Gmail users: Check your Promotions folder. See How do I access the Promotions folder?

a.Open your web browser and log into your Gmail account.

b.Click the + icon to the right of your tabs.

c.Select the check box next to Promotions and click Save.

3. Re-type the email address and click Submit. Ensure you are typing the email address you used when you

purchased your product (as mentioned in step 1.).

4. If you still cannot resolve your issue, contact ESET Technical Support.

FAQ

Application

I forgot my PIN to the ESET HOME application.

If you forgot the PIN to your ESET HOME application, you must uninstall the application and install it again.

However, you will not lose any of your data by uninstalling your ESET HOME application.

What are "push notifications"?

Push notifications are messages that pop up on mobile devices.

Are the ESET HOME applications and portal free?

Yes, the use of ESET HOME is free.

Account

I do not want to receive special offers. How can I opt out?

In ESET HOME, tap on the menu in the application or click the username in the portal, go to My account settings,

and deselect the I would like to receive special offers… option.

At the end of any promotional email from ESET, there is an Unsubscribe button.

What happens with my devices if I delete my ESET HOME account?

Devices are disconnected from ESET HOME but remain activated, and devices remain protected. However, shared

protection with others is deactivated.

I received: "We detected an unusual login to your account. Please review all logged-in devices."

message. What should I do?

To improve your account's security, ESET HOME detects your login device's IP address. If this IP address changes,

you will receive the above message. This message can mean someone signed in to your account from a different

device or your IP address changed. If you have a dynamic IP address or do not have a static IP address, your IP

address can change daily, depending on your ISP and ISP policy.

I have places in my login history where I have never been.

The login location depends on the geographical IP lookup. This location does not have to match the device

location used to log in to your ESET HOME account. The current location depends on your ISP's IP address.

Licenses

Where is License Management?

License management integrates with the ESET HOME portal.

What do I do for an overused or leaked license?

See What to do if you have an overused/leaked license.

My license status is still "Waiting for verification."

You are trying to verify your license using the link in your email address more than 1 hour after receiving the mail.

In your ESET HOME account, in the Licenses section, click Show all licenses > Open License and scroll down to

Resend verification email.

What to do when my license is labeled as suspended?

ESET products activated by a suspended license no longer receive updates. We recommend you check your

payment details or contact your license distributor to resolve the license issue. For more information, visit our

Knowledgebase article.

Is an ESET license free?

Full licenses for ESET products are not free. If you are deciding whether to buy an ESET security product, you can

use a trial version, which is almost like a full license and free for a specific time period.

Internet sources might provide you with a "free" ESET license key, but remember:

• If you click a "Free ESET license" ad, you can compromise your computer or device and it may become

infected with malware. Malware can be hidden in unofficial YouTube videos, websites that display ads to

earn money based on your visits and so on. Usually, these ads are a trap.

• ESET can and does disable pirated licenses.

• A pirated license key does not align with the End User License Agreement you must accept to install an

ESET product.

• You must only purchase ESET licenses through official channels such as www.eset.com, ESET distributors

or resellers (do not buy licenses from unofficial third-party websites like eBay or shared licenses from a

third-party).

• You can download an ESET product for free. Still, activation during an installation requires a valid ESET

license key (you can download and install it, but without activation, it will not work).

• Do not share your license on the internet or social media (the license might become widespread).

Devices

Where can I see how many devices are activated with a specific license if I have more than one

license?

In Licenses, click Show all licenses > Open license. You can find all devices protected with your license in the

Devices section. Here you will only see the devices connected to the ESET HOME account.

I do not see my device under the Devices section, but it is fully protected.

Your device is probably activated with another license, which is not added in the Licenses section. After adding

your license to ESET HOME, a confirmation link is sent to the license owner. After that, it is up to the owner to

give you a management allowance.

How can I disconnect my device but not deactivate protection?

You can disconnect your device from the license in your ESET product. If you are not the ESET HOME account

owner, ask the owner to disconnect your device.

How do I connect a device to my ESET HOME account?

Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) increases the security of your ESET HOME account and the data you can access.

After activating 2FA, you must type a unique 6-digit security code generated by the authentication app on your

smartphone or tablet after entering the ESET HOME password. Set up 2FA anytime according to the instructions

below:

You must install an authentication application on your smartphone or tablet, for example, ESET Secure

Authentication . ESET Secure Authentication is a free authentication application, available in the

official app stores for Android, iOS, and Windows Phone. ESET HOME supports the TOTP (Time-based One-

time password) protocol for 2FA. You can use any compatible mobile application like Google Authenticator

or Authy.

Enable 2FA on the ESET HOME web portal

Note

Knowledgebase article. (This article is not available in all languages.)

1. Log in to ESET HOME.

2. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click your email address.

3. Click My Account.

4. In the Security settings section, click Set up next to Two-factor authentication.

If you have not created an ESET HOME password, you must create one. Click Continue and follow the

instructions in the email sent by ESET to your email address.

5. A QR code with the manual code displays on the screen. On your smartphone or tablet, open your

authentication app and scan the QR code or add the code displayed under the QR code manually to the

app.

6. In the ESET HOME portal, click Continue.

7. Type the 6-digit code from your authentication app and click Continue.

8. Ten one-time recovery codes are provided. Use a recovery code to log in to your ESET HOME account

when you do not have access to your authentication app. To save them securely to your device, click

Download codes & continue, store them in a safe place (for example, Vault) and click Finish setup.

9. Two-factor authentication for your ESET HOME account is enabled. Click Got it.

Edit 2FA on the ESET HOME web portal

1. Log in to ESET HOME.

2. In the upper-right corner of your screen, click your email address.

3. Click My Account.

4. In the Security settings section, click Edit next to Two-factor authentication.

5. Type your ESET HOME password.

6. Type a 6-digit code from your authentication app and click Continue.

7. Make applicable 2FA edits:

• Disable 2FA

8. Click Disable 2FA.

9. Two-factor authentication is disabled and no longer protects your account. Click Got it.

• Recovery codes

8. Next to the Recovery method, click Recovery codes.

9. To save the recovery codes to your device as a .

txt

file, click Download codes. If you have already used

most of the codes, click Get new codes.

• Forget remembered devices

8. To remove all remembered logins from the ESET HOME web portal and app and be prompted for 2FA

every time you log in, click Continue.

9. All remembered logins on all devices are forgotten. Click Got it.

Authentication methods to log in to your ESET HOME account

If you have 2FA set up for your account, use one of two methods to log in to your ESET HOME account:

• Log in with 2FA – You need to type an additional 6-digit code from your authentication application after

logging in with your ESET HOME password. Check the box Remember this device for 30 days, and you will

not be prompted to type 2FA for 30 days on this device. Click Continue to log in.

• Use one of your 8-digit recovery codes – Recovery codes are displayed when you set up 2FA. Type one of

these codes you downloaded and click Continue to log in to your ESET HOME account successfully.

ESET HOME account management

To manage your ESET HOME account you need to log in.

If you do not have an ESET HOME account, you must create one. To do so, click Create account. For more help

with ESET HOME account creation:

Creating an ESET HOME account, as shown in the diagram below, is quick and completely free.

You can manage your ESET HOME account via an application:

Select the check box next to Stay logged in to save your ESET HOME credentials and log in automatically in the

future. Do not select this option if you access ESET HOME from computers or devices that are not your own due

to potential security risks. In addition, your browser must have cookies allowed for this option to function.

Create a new ESET HOME account

Use one of the following methods to create a new ESET HOME account:

• On the ESET HOME web portal

• In the ESET HOME application

• In the main program window of ESET Windows home products

• During the activation process in the ESET Parental Control application

• In ESET Mobile Security

For ESET home products for Windows and Android to function properly with ESET HOME features, you must

create an ESET HOME account. To create an ESET HOME account, log in with your Google account, Apple ID or

email address and password.

If you use your Google account or Apple ID to create an account, you must create a separate ESET HOME

password to use ESET Anti-Theft, ESET Parental Control or to disassociate your Google account or Apple ID

from your ESET HOME account.

Create an account in the ESET HOME web portal using your email address

and password

1. Visit ESET HOME portal.

2. Click Create account.

3. Type a valid email address, and click Continue with email.

To create an ESET HOME account with a social media account, click the Google/Apple button and type your

Google account or Apple ID. You will be logged in to your ESET HOME account.

4. Type a password, and select the appropriate country. These fields are required for registration.

Your password must be at least 10 characters long and contain at least one of each of the following

characters:

• Lowercase letter

• Uppercase (CAPITAL) letter

• Number

5. Click Create account and log in.

6. A verification email will be sent to your email address. Click the link in the email to confirm your

registration. You will be automatically logged in to your account.

You can access all ESET online services when you create an ESET HOME account, including ESET Anti-Theft. For

more information, refer to the How to add a new device and activate ESET Anti-Theft Online Help section or the

ESET Anti-Theft Knowledgebase article (not available in all languages).

Create a new ESET HOME account in the app

To create an ESET HOME account in the application, follow the steps below:

1. Open your ESET HOME application .

2. Tap Create account.

3. Type a valid email address, and tap Save information.

To create an ESET HOME account with a social media account, tap Google/Apple button and type your

Google account or Apple ID. You will be logged in to your ESET HOME account.

4. Type a password, and tap Save information.

Your password must be at least 10 characters long and contain at least one of each of the following

characters:

• Lowercase letter

• Uppercase (CAPITAL) letter

• Number

5. Select the appropriate country.

6. Tap Create account. ESET will send you an email to verify and activate your account.

How to log in to your ESET HOME account

Use the ESET HOME web portal to log in to your ESET HOME account

ESET HOME email and password

1. Visit the ESET HOME web portal.

2. Type your email and password.

3. Click Log in.

Google account

1. On the ESET HOME web portal, click the Google icon .

2. Select your Google account.

3. If you are connecting for the first time to an existing ESET HOME account with your Google account, you

will be prompted to type your ESET HOME password.

4. Click Log in.

Apple ID

1. On the ESET HOME web portal, click the Apple icon .

2. Type your Apple ID and password.

3. Click Log in.

4. Type the code sent to your Apple device.

5. Click Continue.

6. If you trust your web browser, click Trust.

7. Tap Continue to access ESET HOME with your Apple ID.

8. If you are connecting for the first time to an existing ESET HOME account with your Apple ID, you will be

prompted to type your ESET HOME password.

9. Click Log in.

Reset your password (as needed)

I forgot my ESET HOME password.

Your ESET HOME email and password must be different than your ESET store email and password.

Log in to your ESET HOME application for the first time

1. Open the ESET HOME application .

2. Select the account you want to use:

ESET HOME account

a.Tap Log in to start.

b.Type your email and password.

c.Tap Log in.

d.Tap Continue.

Google account

a.Tap Continue with Google.

b.Select your Google account.

c.Tap Log in.

d.If you are connecting for the first time to an existing ESET HOME account with your Google account, you

will be prompted to type your ESET HOME password.

Apple ID

a.Tap Continue with Apple.

b.Type your Apple ID and password.

c.Type the six-digit two-factor authentication code sent to your Apple device.

d.Apple will ask you if you trust this browser, tap Trust. If you tap Do not trust, you will need to type the

authentication code with every login.

e.Tap Continue to access ESET HOME with your Apple ID.

f.If you are connecting for the first time to an existing ESET HOME account with your Apple ID, you will be

prompted to type your ESET HOME password.

g.Tap Continue.

3. Select your preferred login method for future use:

• Biometric login: Uses security features already saved on your phone, such as your face for face

recognition, fingerprint, or screen lock password. Tap Continue.

• PIN: Consists of a four-digit numerical PIN code:

1. Tap Continue.

2. Type a four-digit numerical PIN of your choice and tap Continue.

3. Repeat the PIN to confirm it, and tap Continue.
