2 Connecting the Camera
Mount the dome using the guidelines provided in section 10.
The camera is prepared with all connection cables needed and the cable ends are hanging
out of the top of the camera housing. In detail this will be:
• Power connection cables, a single 24VAC power source
• RS485 Wires for controlling the dome
• BNC connections for each video out of the fixed cameras and one for the PTZ.
Take special note of the direction of the RS485 connections (i.e. direct or crossover) as this is device
dependent.

3 Preparing the cameras
Adjust the orientation and focal length of each of (up to 4) reference cameras for optimal tracking using
the chart below as a guideline.
Install the PTZ core and use
Set Tilt, Focus, Focal length of reference cameras
Insert PTZ dome and latch in place
Attach heater wire and safety

4 Basic Operation
On power-up the system enters a self test mode, tilting and rotating slowly to the home position and the
zoom function cycles between Wide and Tele mode. The diagnostic concludes with the following on
screen display message:
To configure the camera enter the main OSD menu by choosing the “95” or 9” preset twice in a row
within 3 seconds. Keyboard operations are as follows:

5 System Settings
This menu is for the system wide settings.
5.1 EDIT DOME LABEL
This option is used when there are many domes in the system and each need to identified. The label may
be up to 16 characters long. Use [OPEN] to scroll and spacebar to replace deleted characters. To exit
use [CLOSE].

5.3 Display Setup (OSD)
Determines what information is layered onto the video display. The information wil update pan and tilt
angles in degrees when the dome rotates.

5.4 Motion Dynamics Menu
The Motion Sub-menu has the camera dynamic control options – the Auto Flip option, Pan dynamics
(proportional speed), Idle behavior, Powerup behavior and Fan control. Note that the Auto Flip option
may occasionally lead to inverted video depending on the operation and the proportional speed function
makes the joystick non-linear in response and may be undesirable in Tele mode operation.

5.5 Park Time
The park function determines the IDLE behavior after the specified period in secondsthe system can
enter SCAN, TOUR, PATTERN, or PRESET mode.
5.6 Power Up Behavior
Following the Power-up sequence self-test the dome can automatically enter SCAN, TOUR, PATTERN,
or PRESET mode.

5.7 Internal Fan
In warmer climates the internal FAN should be enabled to help regulate internal temperature. The FAN
Behavior is selected in this menu based on the Temperature setting in °C. Default setting is 40 °C
(104°F).

6 Camera Settings
The EyeMax Camera Module has many adjustable parameters with slight variations between camera
module manufacturer. A SONY camera module is almost always used.

6.2 Digital Zoom Control
This options enables the digital zoom functions which multiplies the optical zoom rating of the camera
by a digital factor (see specifications.)

6.3 Back Light Compensation (BLC)
The function corrects for shadows created when the light source is behind the foreground objects using
the interplay of Auto-Iris and Exposure times and has a manual over-ride [0-255].

6.4 Slow Shutter Mode
This function increases the exposure time in low light situations to improve low light performance. Note
that in some applications this option may lead to blurry images.

6.5 IR Cut Off Filter
This function improves image contrast and noise by eliminating the IR portion of the spectrum from
reaching the CCD. Note that this function impacts both day time (Color) and night time (B&W) low
light performance.

6.6 LINE SYNC and WDR
When multiple cameras use a single AC power source this may introduce flicker so the LIN SYNC
option is a flicker control option in these situations. Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) deals with saturation
issues where bright and dark spots coexist in the image.
