Before starting the engine, read the oper-

ating instructions and note:

Warning

This symbol marks all paragraphs in the-

se operating instructions which concern

your safety. Pass all safety instructions to

other users and operators.

Also read and observe the safety regu-

lations in the operating instructions for

the engine.

Due Use

The weed brush in conjunction with a hand-

controlled single-axle drive unit, is intended

for the removal of weeds from areas not di-

rectly neighbouring water surfaces, such as

paved, concreted or asphalted areas. It is de-

signed for a power take-off input speed of 825

to 900 rpm and for a driving power of 6 - 10

kW. The area to be cultivated should be nor-

mally of a size equivalent to those found in

gardening and landscaping work. (Due use)

Any other type of operation is considered

undue. The manufacturer is not liable for

any damage resulting from undue use, for

which the risk lies with the user alone.

The weed brush is not intended for use

in areas such as those neighbouring on

water surfaces, on meadows or with a

two-axle prime mover unit.

Due use includes compliance with manu-

facturer’s instructions on operation, main-

tenance and repair.

Any unauthorized changes to the weed

brush render manufacturer liability null and

void.

General Instructions on

Safety and Accident

Prevention

Basic Rule:

The standard accident prevention regula-

tions must be adhered to, as well as all

other generally accepted rules governing

operational safety, occupational health and

road traffic regulations.

For drives on public roads, the latest traf-

fic code applies.

Accordingly, check the weed brush for

road and operational safety each time you

take up operation.

Only persons familiar with the weed brush

and instructed on the hazards of operati-

on are allowed to use, maintain and re-

pair the weed brush.

Young persons of 16 years or younger are

not permitted to operate the weed brush!

Only work in good light and visibility.

Operator’s clothes should fit tightly. Avoid

wearing loosely fitting clothes. Wear solid

shoes.

Note the warning and instruction signs on

the weed brush for safe operation. Com-

pliance is for your own safety.

When transporting the machine on vehicles

or trailers outside the area to be cultivated,

ensure that the engine is shut off.

Careful with rotating tools – keep at a safe

distance!

Beware of coasting tools. Before you start

any maintenance or repair on them, wait

until tools have come to a complete stop.

Foreign powered parts shear and squee-

ze!

Riding on the attachment during operation

is not permitted.

Implements and weights influence the dri-

ving, steering, braking, and tip-over cha-

racteristics of the weed brush. Therefore,

ensure steering and braking functions are

sufficient. Match operating speed to con-

ditions.

Do not change settings of governor. High

engine speed increases risk of accidents.

Working Area and Danger

Zone

The user is liable to third parties working

within the machine’s working range.

Staying in the danger zone is not permit-

ted.

Check the immediate surroundings of the

machine before you start it. Watch out for

children and animals.

Before you start work, clear the area from

any foreign object. During operation, al-

ways watch out for further objects and re-

move them in time.

For operation in enclosed areas, ensure

that a safety distance is kept to enclosures

to prevent damage to tools.

Operation and

Safety Devices

Before Starting the Engine

Become familiar with the devices and opera-

ting elements and their functions. Above all, learn

how to shut off the engine quickly and safely in

an emergency situation.

Ensure that all protective devices are

mounted and positioned to provide pro-

tection.

With no implement mounted, make sure

PTO-shaft is covered with the protective

cap.

Starting the Engine

Do not start engine in closed rooms. The car-

bon monoxide contained in the exhaust fume

is extremely toxic when inhaled.

Before you start the engine set all operating

elements to neutral or idling position.

For starting the engine, do not step in front

of the machine.

Do not use assist-starting liquids when

using electrical assist-starting devices

(jumper cable). Danger of explosion.

Operation

Never leave the operator’s position at the

steering handle while weed brush is at

work.

Never adjust the operating handles dur-

ing work – danger!

For all works with the weed brush, in par-

ticular for turning, the machine operator

must keep the distance to the machine

given by the steering handles.

Riding on the implement during operation

or in transport is not permitted.

Switch off the power take-off when trans-

porting.

If clogging occurs in the implement, shut

off the engine and clean the implement

with an appropriate tool.

In case of damage to the weed brush, im-

mediately shut off the engine and have it

repaired.

If steering causes problems, immediately

bring the weed brush to a halt and turn it

off. Have the malfunction removed without

delay.

To prevent the machine from sliding on slo-

pes make sure it is secured by another

person using a bar or a rope. This person

must stay at a higher position than the

vehicle and at a safe distance from the

attachment at work.

If possible, always work across the slope.

End of Operation

Never leave the weed brush unattended

with the engine running.

Before you leave the machine, shut off the

engine. Then close fuel taps.

Secure the machine against unauthorized

use. If the machine is equipped with star-

ter key, remove the key. For all other versi-

ons, remove spark plug connector.

Implements

Only mount implements with the engine

and the attachment drive shut off.

Always use appropriate tools and wear

gloves when changing implements and

parts thereof.

For mounting and dismounting implements

bring stand into proper position and ensu-

re stability.

Secure base machine and implements

against rolling off (parking brake, wheel

chocks).

Beware of injuries while coupling imple-

ments. Work with particular care.

Hitch implements as specified and only

couple at specified points.

Secure weed brush against unauthorized

use and rolling off when you leave the ma-

chine. If necessary, install transport or se-

curity devices and secure.

Observe the advice for blocking the over-

drive as shown in the operating instruc-

tions for the base machine.

Weed brush

When working, attention should be paid

to the correct alignment of the front

wheels.

During operation the protection liners

must be folded down to protect against

the rotating brushes and any material

which is thrown out of the machine.

The protection liners may only be raised

in exceptional situations, such as if the

machine is operated next to walls or at a

kerbside.

When operating the weed remover at

kerbs etc. with the protection liners rai-

sed there is a danger of injury through

material which is thrown out of the ma-

chine. Therefore protective clothing and

safety glasses must be worn.

Maintenance

Never carry out any maintenance or clean-

ing with the engine running.

Before you work on the engine, on the

tools, or on the weed brush, always remo-

ve spark plug connector or starter key.

Check regularly and, if necessary, replace

all protecting devices and tools subject to

wear and tear.

Replace damaged tools.

Always wear safety gloves and use proper

tools when exchanging tools.

Keep the machine and implement clean

to avoid risk of fire.

Check nuts and bolts regularly for tight fit

and re-tighten, if necessary.

Ensure that you re-install all safety and

protective devices and bring them into their

protective position after maintenance and

cleaning.

Only use original agria spare parts. All oth-

er commercial spare parts must corre-

spond to quality and technical require-

ments specified by agria.

Storage

It is not allowed to store the base machine

and the weed brush in rooms with open

heating.

Never park the machine in closed rooms

with fuel left in tank. Fuel vapours are ha-

zardous.

The maintenance intervals are between 2 and 50 hours, or 1 year, depending

on the component.

For safe transportation use the fixing points for lifting, loading, holding

in position and lashing down.

Never walk or remain under moving loads. Danger!

Translation of the original operating instructions

3.1 Connecting flange

Assembly:

 Coat the outside diameter of the connecting tube with grease

 Loosen the counter nuts (2) a little

 Unscrew the locating screws (1)

 Introduce the flange, turning the drive shaft a little until the shaft spline is able to be fitted

 Screw in the locating screws (1) to their limit and the screw back one turn

 Tighten the counter nuts (2)

The attachment flange is capable of being set to:

Fixed setting:

Locating screw screwed in below approx. flush with the nut, nut fixed with a locking nut

Movable setting (standard position):

Loosen the nut below a little, unscrew the locating screw to approx. the height of the nut and

then re-fix nut with a locking nut.

3.2 Mounting on the Base Machine

Set the machine down in a horizontal position using the parking support .

 Base machine, for two-wheeled tractors turn steering spar to mount from the front.

After mounting place the parking support

in a fully retracted position.

3.3 Setting of brush height

The brushes can be mounted on the brush shaft at 3 height settings using the linch pin and

the cross holes on the shaft and on the brush hub:

1 for new brushes where 10" tyres are used on the prime mover unit

2 for new brushes where 12" tyres are used on the prime mover unit and for worn brushes

with 10" tyres

3 worn brushes with 12" tyres

Wear gloves always when carrying out work on the brushes.

3.4 Setting of the downforce

The downforce of the brushes on the area worked upon and an incline for working on kerbs

can be set by adjusting the height of the front wheels.

 The height adjustment is made by turning the crank.

Setting of the brushes for working on normal surfaces

For working on areas fully covered with wild plants the brushes should be turned down and to

the front by a distance of approx. 2-3 cm. Where the brushes are worn adjust the brush

height as given in  Chap. 3.3.

When working on such fully covered areas turn the front wheels upwards according to the

nature of the area and the machine will then be positioned with its dead weight on the brushes.

Setting of the brushes for kerbs

The machine should be in a slightly inclined position above the front wheels for working on

kerbs.

 Lower the front wheel

so far that the brush does no longer lies on the area opposite the

kerbs

 Turn the front wheel

so high that the machine sits on the brushes in the kerb area.

3.5 Protection liners

The protection liners must be folded down to avoid the danger of flying objects and from

the rotating brushes.

The protection liners

may only be raised in exceptional situations

such as when working along walls or kerbs.

When the weed brush is being used on kerbs etc. with the protection liners

raised there is a danger from flying items. Therefore protective clothing and

safety glasses must be worn.

New brushes the protection liners

should be mounted using the lower holes on the joint

. Where the brushes are partially worn the protection liners should be mounted in the

upper holes.

Raising of the protection liners

 Pull out the spring cotter pin

, raise the protection liner and lock it in position by putting

the spring cotter pin through the two holes.

The protection liners are lowered in a similar manner.

3.6 Distance of brushes

By moving both of the angular gears in conjunction with the shorter V-belts (102852), the

forming of striped patterns as a result of brush wear when working on open surfaces can be

avoided.

 The exchanging of the V-belts and adjustment of the angled gears is carried out as for

tightening of the V-belts Chap. 5.2.

4.3 Danger zone

Remaining in the danger area of the

weed brush when it is being started

or when in operation is prohibited.

Check safety circuit function

- Only operate the machine if the

safety circuit is working!

Wear individual protective ear plugs and so-

lid shoes.

Operator’s clothes should fit tightly. Avoid

wearing loosely fitting clothes (e.g. scarves).

Before you start working, remove all hard ob-

jects from the area to be cultivated. While

working, watch out for hard objects.

Before moving off, check the immediate sur-

roundings, e.g. for children.

When using the weed brush at kerbs etc. with

the protection liners raised there is a danger

of flying objects. Therefore protective clothing

and safety glasses must be worn.

Upon cleaning, for reasons of safety, the en-

gine must be shut down and the spark plug

connector or the starter key be withdrawn.

4.2 Working

Check that all screws are fitted tightly before commencing work.

Adjust all safety devices to the secure setting.

If necessary apply the overdrive lock as per the operating instructions

of the base machine.

Beware of flying objects, in particular on stony ground. Keep your

distance when the engine is running.

Switch off the drive for transporting.

Check the amount of oil on the angled gears before starting for the

first time 5.3

4.1 Description

The weed brush in conjunction with a hand-controlled single-axle drive unit,

is intended for the removal of weeds from areas not directly neighbouring

water surfaces, such as paved, concreted or asphalted areas.

Removal of the weeds is achieved using

the rotating steel brushes.

By use of a height adjustment of the front

wheels the downforce of the brushes on

the area worked upon and an incline of the

brushes for working on such as kerbs may

set.

5.1 General Maintenance

Check all retaining screws after every 50 hours of operation for tightness , and in

particular tighten the brush mounting where necessary.

5.2 Brushes and Protection Liners

Before every start check the brushes and the protection liners for dama-

ge and wear and replace where necessary.

 Changing the brushes: place the front wheels down to their lowest possible

setting and move the front wheels onto a small platform of approx. 15 cm (e.g. a

palette)

 Remove the linch pin on the brush hubs and pull the brushes with the brush

plate out in a downward movement

 Remove the brushes from the brush plates

 mount and assemble the new brushes in reverse order as shown in the figure -

pay attention to the brush height Chap. 3.3.

When working with the brushes wear protective gloves at all times.

5.3 Gearbox

Oil level check at least after every 50 operating hours or annually, to do this

remove the housing cover by loosening the screws on either side



 check when still warm after operation

 clean screw plug and the area around it so no dirt comes into the gearbox

 Place the machine in a horizontal position; remove screw plug, - the oil level

must be at the level of the screw plug opening, fill up where necessary

 Screw down and tighten screw plug

Oil change for the first time after 50 operating hours, then after every 500

operating hours

 when still warm from operation siphon off gearbox oil through the screw plug

opening and fill up with new gearbox oil. Oil data Chap. 2

 Screw down and tighten locking screws.

5.4 Mounting flange

 Clean each of rotary flanges once a year and after every clean using a high-

pressure cleaner lubricate with grease

 Grease coupling sleeve after every cleaning.

5.5 Front wheels

Clean the axle bolts at least every year and smear with a little grease, in particular

after cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner

 for this set the front wheels to their lowest setting until the axle bolts are easily

accessible.

5.6 V-belts

Check the V-belts at least after every 50 operating hours. Replace worn or

damaged V-belts; for this remove the housing cover .

Check V-belt tension after the first 2 operating hours and then at least

every 50 operating hours: the depth of the V-belts (thumb pressure approx.

50 N) should be 5-7 mm, where necessary re-tension V-belts

 loosen the nuts by about 1 turn, loosen counter-nuts on the spindle and

then loosen or tighten the V-belts with the spindle

 Counter screw the counter-nuts on the spindle tighten the nuts ; replace

and fix down housing cover .

V-belt change is carried out as for the V-belt tensioning.

Danger of crushing! Do not place your hands into the V-belt

mechanism. Wear protective gloves.

Replace the housing cover before every start.

5.7 Cleaning

Spray down the machine with water after finishing work and spray the brushes

with organic corrosion protection agent, repair paintwork faults.

The engine must be switched off and the starter key or spark plug connector removed when

undertaking any work on the weed brush. Cleaning should not be done directly by hand where

possible but should instead take place using a suitable object.

Wear protective gloves!

Pay attention when performing all work that the machine is secured against unintentional overturning

and rolling away. When lifted secure with suitable chocks!
