Information manual for the Aristo
®
Tech HD welder protective helmets complies with Par. 1.4 of
Appendix ll of the EC regulations. The Aristo
®
Tech HD welding helmets are high quality products that
c
ontribute to the comfort and safety of the welder.
Information
Aristo
®
Tech HD welding helmets and filters afford reliable protection for the eyes whilst electric arc
w
elding. When used as instructed they offer constant protection against UV/IR rays, heat & sparks.
Do not look directly at welding rays with unprotected eyes. This can cause a painful inflammation and
possible irreparable damage to the eyes. Aristo
®
Tech HD welding helmets allow the welder to see the
p
oint of arc strike more precisely. Both hands are kept free, because the helmet does not have to be
flipped up and down during welding. The helmet’s light weight reduces neck fatigue.
Range of application
Refer to shade table below (based on EN 169 Table A.3). CAUTION: Filter not suitable for use with
laser systems and oxy-acetylene (welding) applications. Do not use for any purpose other than arc
welding and related processes. Never use when driving as this could lead to incorrect identification of
the color of traffic light.
Warning
Materials which may come into contact with the wearer’s skin could cause allergic reactions to
susceptible individuals.
Replacing the Outer Spatter Lens
Ensure the helmet is always equipped with a clean front and inside cover lens (Drawing 2).
Warning
Toughened mineral filter oculars shall only be used in conjunction with a suitable backing ocular.
Replace front and inside cover lenses regularly with certified Aristo
®
Tech HD cover lens if broken,
damaged, or spatter filled. Use of non-Aristo
®
Tech HD cover lens voids warranty.
Before using Aristo
®
Tech HD helmet for the first time remove the protective film from the Front Cover
Lens (Drawing 1). Refer to below instructions for cover lens removal and installation. Refer to
maintenance (Page 4) for cleaning instructions.
Removing and installing a new front cover lens (Spatter Lens):
Turn the 2 retainer knobs ¼ turn away from the filter inside of the helmet. Pull
the filter out and push out the old front cover lens. Insert the new front cover
lens under the tabs. Install the filter and turn the ¼ turn knobs to lock the filter
in place.
Operation
Adjustment of headgear (Drawing 3):
Adjust crown height of helmet with top strap.
Fit helmet to head size by pushing and turning ratchet knob.

X-TIG and Grind Modes:
Sensitivity (External Control Knob)
Turn Sensitivity Knob up until digital display shows “X-TIG”. Ideal for low amp TIG.
Turn Sensitivity Knob down until digital display shows “GRIND”.
Sensitivity (Internal Control Panel)
Press “M” mode button till Sensitivity flashes then use “+”/”-” buttons to increase/decrease
sensitivity.
Before using the filter we recommend the following initial settings are used:
Set sensitivity to maximum.
Adjust the Sensitivity down until the filter switches to the clear state. The filter is now set to its
optimum sensitivity for the surrounding light conditions.
Setting the delay:
Push “+” or “-“ button until you reach desired delay (8 intervals between 0.1 and 3.5 seconds).
Servicing and maintenance
Do not drop helmet or place heavy objects such as tools on or inside the helmet. Doing so may
damage the electro-optical filter.
Make sure helmet is equipped with a front and inside cover lens (Drawing 2). These protection lenses
must be replaced if damaged in any way (Page 2).
Clean the helmet and filter, including sensors, when changing cover lenses by any of these methods:
Wipe with a clean, dry piece of non-abrasive cloth.
Clean with a non-abrasive cloth moistened with either pure alcohol or commercial disinfectant
Use only components specified in this manual. Use of other components not listed negates all
approvals and may be harmful. Dispose of filters in accordance with local regulations. If used properly
the welding filter requires no further maintenance during its lifetime.
If filter flickers, does not return to light state after welding and delay, or fails to turn dark, check for
obstructions and cleanliness of front cover lens. Remove obstructions and clean or replace front cover
lens. If this does not correct the issue contact ESAB customer service.
